His children (my aunts and uncles) certainly do, although you wouldn't know it, because they all have diseases that can be tied to gluten allergies in one way or another, and yet they still eat it.
For my own part, I was raised on a wheat farm (!!) and spent my childhood running through the fields, shoveling the grain bins, and dusting the chaff off my clothing during harvest. It's only amazing I didn't start to feel the symptoms of GI a LOT sooner.
P.S. - The rice tortillas are the best. I would really have a hard time eating GF all the time if I had to give those up.
Hi Amber, welcome to a great and informative team. Does your family tree below your grandfather’s branch all know of his condition? I did not know about rice tortillas thanks for mentioning them but I did hear about teff grain tortillas from this team.

Hey there - I am new to SparkPeople, but not new to GF...My grandfather was a full-fleged celiac, and I am allegic to wheat (gluten itself in other grains is not so much my problem). At any rate, I've been eating GF foods for 6+ years, but after having my body nearly shut down on me with allergic reactions (and being mis-diagnosed as having lupus), I kicked the wheat and kicked many, many of the really life-clobbering symptoms. I loves me some rice tortillas and Glutino prezels these days! I'm anxious to find out if there are meal plans on SparkPeople that avoid glutinous foods? Anyone know?
