No, RLS hasn't crossed my mind, but I do have pain in my knees (diagnosed as osteoarthritis) and more recently weird pains "between" my knees and ankle. I don't know any other way to describe them. And, no, I haven't been back to the doctor to see what's going on, and I know I should. Linda C

Glad to meet you. I'm glad you're feeling better. :)

Why Linda - good for you! Do you have RLS? If so, ask doc to check ferritin levels or do an iron panel? Just a thought based on my experience with RLS (I even added it - in my fog - to my symptoms list at my first gastro appt before colonoscopy & endoscopy).

I decided to go GF about a month or so ago, and was doing a pretty good job. And, I had fewer aches and pains. This week, I got lazy and decided maybe it didn't matter; the past two nights my legs have kept me awake. Go figure!

I experienced the same thing when I went GF 18 months ago. My allergies are non-existent now too!

welcome,
I lurked at the beginning too.

With allergies being better - I asked my Dr about mine being better and only having an attack after a glutening. Mind you I was the person that was always asked why didn't I get shots, and all the allergists I saw always said I wasn't bad enough, it never made sense till going GF and my Dr's explanation. Anyway my Dr said to think of a scale with gluten on one side and allergies on the other, my body was fighting the gluten so hard that there wasn't a reserve for my allergies. Now that the gluten is gone it's more balanced or even tipped to fight the allergies instead of gluten.

Hello! I've been "lurking" for a few weeks now.

My son & I switched to a gluten-free diet 4 years ago this October. His was a doctor-recommended switch, and I went along so he wouldn't be "the only one in the world" to be GF. It was about 6 months later that I realized I had a legitimate problem with gluten myself - and I've been strictly following a GF lifestyle ever since.

I haven't been tested for Celiac - I just know that when I am free of all cross-contaminations:
* my migraines are less frequent & go away quicker
* I have fewer... digestive problems ;)
* my allergies are less pronounced
* my arthritis does not hurt as much
* and I have SO MUCH more energy!

I guess with results like that, I've not felt the need to have an actual test-result tell me what I already know - my body functions better without gluten!
