Hey Sally! You get a hug for the compliment; and also for just sharing your story. I LOVE stories. Too many people I meet don't believe me about celiac/gluten symptoms, and here it is in black and white for all to see.
I would love to meet Drs. Fasano or Green, or at the least even be a bug on the wall at their offices soaking up ... more stories and understanding the GI system!
What have you done for your osteoporosis and has it helped? Did you notice on the SparkTeam page where the list of threads are that you can tell when our team posts new recipes to SparkRecipes.com? Kittah posted one for "Gotta Have GF Lasagna" I thought was a good idea. Zucchini/summer squash slices instead of pasta. Maybe you've heard of that one.
Is your brother here at SP? We have a male member from Jersey here also.
We look forward to getting to know you. I would tell you to look around past threads to get to know us, but you beat me to the punch! :) Keep taking care!

Hi. My name is Sally and I am 58 yo. I was diagnosed as celiac 9 yrs ago. My brother was diagnosed over 30 yrs ago. He has been a big help to me. When I have any questions, I call him. He is the head of his local celiac support group in South Jersey. I was tested at the Univ. Of Maryland when they had free blood tests for research of relatives who were already diagnosed as celiac. I have read all 16 pages of this group before I decided to post an introduction. Dotslady, you are a wealth of information !!!!! I hope you still continue to lead this or co-lead with someone !!!!! My brother and I got the chance to go to the Univ. Of MD and tour the celiac research center with a group of people and got to meet Dr. Alessio Fasano and the other doctors there. It was an AWESOME experience !!!! They work in such tight quarters !!!!! I also have Type II Diabetes (from the weight gain), hypothyroid, and severe osteoporosis. Oh, and degenerative disks. The severe osteoporosis comes from all the years I was anorexic, bulimic and undiagnosed celiac. I have enjoyed reading everyones post and I hope to find new recipes because I am getting tired of eating the same things. I need to branch out !!!!! I am glad that I have found this group.
