LDADAR, what brought you to Japan? Were you teaching English? When I was teaching I lost a lot of weight from the active life style. Just watch your calories and it falls of you! But, now I am a stay at home mom, which hasn't been cutting it. :) Enter weight gain!
Welcome! I lived in Nirasaki in Yamanashi prefecture in 2001-2002. I loved shopping at Uniqlo. I could wear the large size. I didn't own a car when I lived in Japan so walking to the train station helped me stay in shape.

Welcome Nikki! Glad to have you in the Short team. We are definitely not short on encouragement though!!
Vivian, I turn 49 next month and I shop in the Jrs. dept at times too. Sometimes I find something that is "age appropriate". It's hard, because in our area clothes seem to be geared for older women or young girls. So hard to find something that is for us 40 somethings.

I remember weighing 113 when I was first married over 23 years ago. Oh, to be there once again! Welcome to the "little" team! One good thing about living there is you probably are able to eat healthier and you never have to worry about finding "petite" clothing!
LOL - can't say I've tried to buy clothes in Tokyo but I know I have a hard time finding stuff in the good ol' USA! The combination of being 5'0" tall and thin means I have to shop in the Junior's department and that can be rather amusing for a forty-nine-year-old woman!
Welcome to the group, Nicole - we do have challenges but with work and commitment they can be overcome, especially at your young age. Lifting weights is a wonderful way to tone your body and the site has lots of tools and information to help you on your way!
Hi all! I was so excited when I found this group! It's a unique challange losing weight on such a small frame, and I am glad there is a place we can encourage each other the world over! My name is Nicole and I am 24 and around 114 (a flabby 114 though . I want to tone up and to be more comfortable in my own skin. Living in a land of skinny-minis doesn't help me much (have you every tried to buy clothes is Tokyo?!).
