Yeah, it's cool being able to wear clothes that younger people wear!...I'm 20 which is still young but I'm not a teenager anymore and it makes me feel good to know that I can wear certain clothes someone 4 or even 5 years younger than me would be able to wear because their my size...But, being over weight and short doesn't help either...I used to be able to fit in those clothes alot better then I do now...Now, I'm leaning toward the older people's section of clothes...I'm a size 10 or 11 in pants...I used to be a size 7...Do you know how that makes me feel?...I want to cry...I am so desperate to be smaller...I want to wear more of those clothes again!!!...I enjoy looking tiny and being cute...How can I be cute in a size 11???...lol

Well, I'm not going to put myself down anymore than I already have. I need to face the fact that I AM overweight and that I DO need to lose this extra weight--- AND I WILL WE ALL WILL!!!...

You're Spark Friend,
Desiree

Hello! I posted this thread...And, I just love everyone's comments to it!...I know that being short has its pros and cons...Like, my boyfriend is 6'4 and I'm a whole foot an and inch shorter than him at 5'3 which isn't bad because I like being the tiny one...lol. The only reason I'd want to be taller is really because I'd like to look better in clothes and stuff...But, hey who cares we are who we are and that's all that matters...When it comes down to it we're not leaving this earth with these bodies are we?...So, being tall or short really doesn't matter...Just as long as your happy being who you are...Thanks guys! You really made me feel better about my height!...

Aw, c'mon, there's just something romantic about dancing with your head on the fellow's sternum! Hubby is 6'1" to my 5'. After 28 years, he's gotten accustomed to getting a pain in the neck when he tries to kiss me, and I'm fairly used to trying to point my chin at the ceiling to get the right angle. LOL There have always been dance moves we could execute better than couples who had a taller female, though.

Now if he'd just learn to hang things a little lower, we'd be in business!

Cheri, I know what you mean. My fiance is 6'2" and I'm 5' so I completely know how you feel. I sometimes wish I was closer to eye level... like when dancing or when we are standing and he kisses me... sometimes I wish he didnt have to bend over so far... or me have to be on my tip-e-toes. But God made me this way... and my fiance likes my size... so I'm content with it.

I totally agree with Villagecrone. The only times I ever wish I could be taller is when I have to suffer because engineers design stuff for taller folks or I fall in love with an outfit that is not petite.

I very rarely wish I was taller. Mostly when I'm reaching for something. Or when I try something on and it needs to be hemmed.

I'm 5'1" and my hubby is 6'1". There are times I wish I could dance with my head on his shoulder. (((sigh)))

Rarely - Mostly when climbing on the shelves in grocery stores! On the other hand, I have used it to my advantage... scope out the cute guy to reach stuff for me, then start a conversation. I'm also 4'8", so even the second shelf in my kitchen can be an issue, but I've got folding steps at hand for that!

Speaking of nicknames - my personal favorite was 'Three Apples High'! It evolved from Smurfette when I was in gradeschool. Both were friendly teasing and certainly didn't scar me, and you had to give them points for creativity and originality - at least with Three Apples High.emoticon

There have been several occasions in my life that i have longed to be taller...i find that if i was just a couple inches taller that the extra weight that i DO have would distribute itself better...and there's that thing of trying to reach something on the top shelf...lets just say that by the age of 22 im a damn good climber...my boyfriend's always trying to help and im like now...i got it...i might be short but imma big girl, lol! Now days i'm pretty content with my height...ive learned to embrace it...like some of u said...great things come in small packages! Oh and of course cant forget my infamous nickname...."Shorty"

Absolutely!! I'm 4'8" tall; so yeah, it's been a real pain, if I choose to let it be! When I was a kid, I had lots of problems with my legs, hip and foot. I had to have 2 operations to actually cut the growth cartilidge on my knee so the other leg wouldn't be 4" longer than than that one. The doctor who performed the surgeries presented me with the choice to be 2-3" BUT walk with a huge limp or have legs with even length but walk much better! See, there are more important issues than height. Obviously, I chose to have equal length legs and be short, BUT I CAN WALK!! I have exceeded all the doctors expections!

That being said, it is a pain sometimes when I can't reach stuff at the store. But, like the lady on "Little People, Big World" says, "We can do everything average height people can do, we just have to do it differently."

I make a lot of jokes about my height and have tons of "short" stories. Ya just gotta go with it!!

I used to wish I was taller when I played sports in high school. As I look back, I think my shortness gave me the drive and competitiveness to strive even harder. And as I stood in church yesterday behind a tall guy with leg problems, I thanked God for my short legs. I also prayed for him and his continued strength. It made me thankful that my short little legs could run 15 miles that morning.emoticon

Nope. I'm the shortest in both my family and my husband's at 5'3" (well, almost). My height isn't a problem to me at all.

That being said, my 5'0" friend has a 12-year old daughter who is quite tiny (not a surprise). Once, when the daughter was having health problems, the doctor said, "you know, we may be able to do something about her height." My friend was furious and said, "Listen, I'm the tallest woman in my family and her height is the least of our worries." Couldn't believe that a doctor was more concerned about something strictly about looks and not about her actual health problems. As if height is a medical condition. What an idiot.

Never wanted to be taller. I'm the eldest of 4 and the shortest as well, at 5'0" w/boots on. I have never 'felt short' either, even next to tall folks. I am who I am and I love me, make the very best of what I've been blessed with, never wanted for more height, and am stubborn enough to believe I can do anything I put my mind to regardless of my size.
I do, however, believe that we show weight gain more readily than those that are taller....just means we need to be more vigilant. Not a problem! All about perspective baby, it could ALWAYS be worse.

Every time i can't reach stuff and need a chair! even in my own kitchen. I bought a 2 step ladder for work last week-- and i wrote my name on it.
Also was a pain when my kids were taller (lucky stiffs) and were still in grade school.

Of course, I once had wished of becoming taller. I'm the eldest and at the same the shortest. emoticon Being just 4'11", I was always the center of attraction to cousins and classmates. But, I was able to embrace my height as people call me "Small but terrible". And being able to thank God of what I have being a person enable me to embrace that my shortness doesn't count much with my whole being. It's ME!!! And, I use my height as one matter I can be proud, that being handicapped with height does not mean I can't achieve my goals.... Whew!

I've wished a lot of things, but being taller has never been one of them because there are so many benefits to being short emoticon. And with a really good alterations lady, clothes aren't so much of a problem either. Embrace who you are. I found this on another thread tonite....

A Creed To Live By
By Nancye Sims

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give love. The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope; to be without hope is to be without purpose.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you're going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

Happiness is within us all, it's up to us to find our joy - we can't expect others to find it or provide it for us.

The only 'real' thing in our lives thats an absolute constant is CHANGE...and somehow, someway, me must be willing to except and adapt.

Sometimes being short is really inconvenient (BUYING CLOTHES is the biggest culprit) but overall I think I have embraced my shortness, or at least gotten used to it.

In fact, when I'm NOT shopping for clothes, I rather like it. I like being a good head and half shorter than most of the guys around me, it makes me feel dainty and tiny in a way my waist...doesn't. Plus, it's actually sort of benefit where I work--I'm a tour guide at a local show cave, and I'm actually short enough (5'1") so that I don't have to worry about walking into any of the overhangs!

I'm always wishing that I'll magically grow atleast two more inches but that'll never happen. I'm 5'3 and I can't stand it!...I feel like if I were taller then I wouldn't have to worry so much about what I eat. Although I know that isn't always true. I feel like shorter people gain weight faster. Am I alone in thinking that way?...I always see these beautiful tall women on tv or even in person and I'm like "Gosh, I wish I had long legs like her!" It isn't fair...lol. I don't want to be like 6ft or anything I just don't want to be 5'3...lol. I guess it isn't that bad but, a couple more inches wouldn't hurt.

Just thought I'd put this question out there. I know other women wish they were taller too so I'm not alone...lol.

Thanks!
Your sparkfriend,
Desiree
