Welcome Ariana! If you can recognize at 18 that you need to work on this, you are ahead of us! I have worked on my weight for a very long time and for the past 5 months I just decided the excuses were over. After all the weeks have gone by, suddenly patterns emerge and if you can develop a good habit, it goes a long way. Don't let yourself think in a negative way, positive energy will really help. Ariana, Welcome aboard to the 5' 3" and under team! The good thing is that you've already identified the problem and you know what you need to do so congratulations on making you first baby steps! You will see as you continue on SP that you will always find a buddy or someone who will just listen when you need to vent or if you need to cheer someone on! The good thing is that you have learned earlier in life what you need to do and be able to face it head on and work on your specific situation! You have many tools to help you through your life journey and it sounds like once you get on track with starting your fitness that will help with some of your emotional eating! Take care, keep in mind you are on the right track and always remember life is a journey, it has hills and valleys, and you occasionally have detours, just keep in mind this is a life process and don't beat yourself up over something that you did, that you didn't, or something that you should've, you always have the next day!

Hello!, I'm Ariana and in my senior year of high school. I joined Sparkpeople about the end of December and have had the worst time of keeping up on it. I want to lose weight, because at 5'1 140lb doesn't really work. It doesn't help that I have tendency to emotional eating. My goal is 120 before summer, but if not by then, at least before September, when college starts. I guess what I really want is someone to be a buddy with me? Or at least someone who wants to give motivation? Of course I would provide the same buddy system and motivation, ect back. Well, here it goes!
