It varies but pre-menopause begins around 45 or so... But, the important point about menopause is that you want to do all you can to accomplish your weight loss and fitness BEFORE it happens, because it gets harder to do afterwards... At 33, Leslie, you are in the prime of your life - that's when a woman's hormonal levels are at their peak, which is great!

One more thing - and don't hate me for saying this but it comes from experience and I don't think we talk about this enough. Menopause is a game changer - do everything you can to achieve success NOW because, after menopause, everything changes in more ways than one!
I will be 54 this July and I was 46 when I started my lifestyle change. I can definitely relate to how slow and difficult the process is and it boils down to being persistent and fighting to succeed. Patience is your biggest ally and if you stick it out, you will get there because it can be done!

Fun2read. I'm there also I'll be 45 in 7 months and I've now lost a total of 42 pounds since May of last year and looking at a few more but's it's been a challenge but nothing I can't overcome. I've had friends to lean on along the way and I'm also here if you need cheering on!
