Hi Mo. Welcome to the team. I'm only 4'11" so I understand your feelings exactly. It is hard to get the calorie range right. All the "experts" say no less than 1200 but I agree with you that I can't lose weight in that calorie range. And you're right age does matter! I'm 45 and it is harder every year!!! Sedentary lifestyle is no longer an option if I want to lose weight. I am finding that pilates is a great way to shape up without all the jumping up and down stuff. Good luck to you in your journey.

Hi! I'm Mo and I am 5' 1.5". I am 38 years old, soon to be 39 on Friday (yuck).
The reason I am so happy to have found this Team is because "average" sized people just don't understand the constant battle short people have with their weight, with trying to lose weight, and then trying to maintain that weight loss.
I am currently at my goal and am trying to maintain. My weight fluctuates a lot so when I say I am at my goal, it means that I am under 100 pounds. I seem to waiver back and forth between 96 and 99. If I had to give a specific number that is my goal number, it is 98.
I do very well during the week and am very disciplined; I usually relax a bit on the weekends and allow myself a few treats that I would never even consider during the week. On a typical day, I have been consuming between 800-1000 calories and that seems to be a good maintenance place for me. I know there are a lot of people at SP who are appalled by that range and insist no lower than 1200 calories per day, but at 5'1" with a small frame and a sedentary lifestyle, it's exactly where I need to be. I follow a low carb eating plan (I try to stay less than 50g per day ), with moderate fat/protein intake.
I am excited to be here and happy to have found this SparkTeam!
