Greetings all, Be gentle I am a new poster. I have been lurking around the sparkteams for about a year. I am really glad to find a vertically challenged team. I am 5' 2 1/2" and currently a whopping 170 lbs. I live across the Puget Sound from Seattle, WA. I am ready to get serious about becoming more healthy. I have really enjoyed learning about all of you from your posts.

Hi Patricia, I'm also a native Texan...I'm from a bit farther south, though. I currently live in Germany, but will return to Texas in a few years!
I wanted to encourage you to enter your food on your food log even on ugly days. It really helps to keep accountable and motivate you to make the right choices if you know you're going to see it in writing. I've been guilty of not posting my bad days, but I'm really trying to stay consistent with the posting (and with better choices).
One of the best choices I ever made, nutritionally speaking, was to cut out white sugar and flour. Not exactly low carb, but just making better carb choices. Bread, pasta, and rice are all brown (with WHOLE grain flour listed as the first ingredient). I try to only eat natural sweets (like fruits) and stay away from anything made with processed sugar (don't look too closely at my log from yesterday - I was BAAAAD and had 6 cookies!)....We all slip up every now and then..but it really does help to keep your food log current - even when you don't wanna see the numbers! For me, seeing a bad day, helps to make me wanna be extra good on the following day.

I'm Patricia from NE Texas. I am 5'2" and weigh 140 lbs. (Probably more after the last two days!).
I hope to get some major motivation from this group! I am looking for more nutritional support than anything! I do at least 30 min. of cardio 5 days a week at the gym. I know that I need to add some weights to that, and starting next week I am going to work that in.
I just can't seem to get my eating under control! That's one reason I don't post it here is because I know it's bad!
