Yes, being short does present a challenge. We can't indulge in the portions that our taller friends can enjoy and a couple of pounds on us really shows. But our height does not make weight loss nor fitness an impossibility. The truth is that it takes WORK, persistence, dedication and desire - and if I did it, anyone can do it. Give it your all!
Welcome! I have always loved being short, but I do agree with you on the gaining wait thing. This team is so good because we are comparing apples to apples when it comes to weights instead of our 5'9" friends who think we are crazy! Good luck!

Hi Raina, Welcome! You've found a great team to get support, motivation and information especially about weight loss, healthy lifestyle and issues that we as shorties have that a lot of people don't deal with. I'm also 4'11". I originally started at about 140 but by the time I found sparkpeople I was around 135. I began a serious lifestyle change in December because of my husbands diabetes. We are working together and have vowed to never "diet" again. So, glad your here and good luck with your journey! Check in with us often!
Hi everyone! My name is Raina and I'm 23 years old. I'm extremely short and overweight.
My height is 4' 11" (yeah, I told you). My current weight is 152 pounds. I want to lose over 50 pounds and to have my weight to be under 100 pounds. I've always hated being short cos I feel that if I eat a lot, it's easy for my to really gain weight. And my problem area is the thigh, hips, butt and tummy.
I'm so glad I found this team and I'm really excited to begin this journey.
