Hi, all. I'm Sharon. Always considered myself 5'2", but turns out I am apparently 5'3". I am in my 40s and looking for an active group to help keep me motivated. Seems like I might have similar dietary requirements to others in this group. :)

Hello everyone! I'm Donna, 60 years young, used to be 5'1" up until about a decade ago. Now I'm 5' even! I have osteopenia in my low back and in my right hip. I'm combating that with calcium supplements, drinking milk, and walking. Last DEXA scan showed an increase in bone mass so it must be working!

I've lost 34 pounds with SparkPeople and 15 before that on my own, so I've lost a total of 44 pounds. I need to lose 6 more to reach my goal and they are the hardest ones to lose! I've been sitting in the 130-133 pounds range for a year now and can't seem to get below that.

I strength train at home using hand weights and body weight. I walk at least 5 days a week on a paved walkway that runs along the beach. I live on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. I hope to join the local Y in the near future.

I'm a retired elementary teacher who loves to read, garden, travel, and play with my grandchildren!

Hey, all! I'm a short girl living in Alaska, where the snow drifts sometimes out-height me. I have been on this weight loss journey for 23 days, but finished the New People Spark People Challenge, and am looking for somewhere new to find active, interesting members to participate with. I have 84 pounds to lose, and I'm taking it one day at a time.

I have always hated going to the gym, in part because most gym equipment isn't designed for people as short as I am. My feet never reach the ground, when seated at half the equipment, which leaves my legs dangling and makes my knees hurt over time. I imagine ladies in general have trouble with man-sized gym equipment, but being on the small end of the scale even for a lady, I found it impossible to motivate myself to go to the gym.

Recently, I've invested in at-home gym equipment, instead. I need to stop making excuses and start moving forward.

May the Force Be With You!

Hi,

I'm Aplomb a wee bit under 5', and need to loose about 30 pounds. Have set an attainable goal, and am looking for daily buddies to check in with in a general way.

I do hope to use Spark for motivation and encouraging others to stay with which ever choices they make on how to reach and maintain their own goals.

emoticon Becky,

Are your students taller than you?

Glad you move around alot.

I've got about 10 stubborn pounds left to go.

There are SPteams helping to deal with sweets, emotional eating and loosing the last 10 pounds, that could be helpful for you.

Let me know how it goes....

Hi, I'm Becky. I'm 5'1" and have been a member since June. I've lost 5-6 pounds, but easily give way to sweets and emotional eating. I work as a teacher and do move around a lot, walk for exercise, and do some strength training at home. Anyone else have 10 pounds to lose?

Hello, I'm new to the team. I'm 4 ft. 11 1/2 in. tall and have been using Sparkpeople for a little over a year. I've lost 65 lbs. since last Sept. I have at least 60 more to go. I've been retired for 2 years and enjoy every minute of it. I exercise daily and go to the Fitness center 2 x a week for Silver Sneakers. I feel great since my weight loss and eating healthy.

Hi I am new to this team but not new to SparkPeople. I have tried this in the past did good then fell off. I am between 5'1.5" to 5'2" depending on what day and time the doctor measure me emoticon Right now I am at weight that is the heaviest I have been and based on my height is really big. I had did weight watchers last year and did well but gained it all back and more when I lost motivation. So I am really trying to stay focus and trying to stay motivated because I know its a lifestyle change. I have to pep talk with myself that it will take a slow time but a change will come.

Hi, I'm Kathy, and I'm 5'2" and a little bit. I was 5'3" at one point in my life, but somewhere I lost a touch. I need to lose 50 lbs., and it's going slowly and expect it will take a long time. I'm here for the encouragement so I don't get discouraged. I'd love to wake up and be my desired weight, but that ain't gonna happen. I've finally accepted the fact that I didn't gain this weight overnight, and it's not going off that quickly, either.

Losing weight is on the list, though it's not first obviously. I add to the challenge taking care of a house filled with a retired husband, four kids, six dogs, seven cats, and more. Every morning I remind myself of my motto -- NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER QUIT.

More soon.....

Hi all,

I'm Song, 5'2 and 35 years old. I've lost a lot of weight with SP already, though my body and my motivation both stalled for a couple of years after the first 80 pounds. Now I'm ready for round 2!

I'm an actress and singer by trade, a runner and fitness addict by hobby, but I tend to get derailed by food and wacky schedules.

Hey there! My name's Chianne, I am 20 years old (21 in about 2 months), 5'2'', and one of my long-term goals is to lose around 50 or so pounds.
I've been struggling with my weight for over half of my life and, as a result, i've never really been confident in myself. For as long as I can remember, i've weighed 200 or more pounds. I remember feeling down and sorry for myself a lot throughout the years, and then feeling more guilty when I would turn to food as a comfort for those feelings. But I never did anything about it. I realize now, that was my mistake. So, instead of feeling depressed and guilty, I got angry. And that's when I decided that my lifestyle choices were no ones fault but my own, and if I wanted things to change, I would have to change them.
So, I got up one morning, with determination, and made a few small changes. I quit drinking soda completely, and mostly just drink water now. I make sure to eat breakfast every day, and drink atleast 7 glasses of water a day. And I just started a Yoga program a few days ago.
With just those small changes, i've lost 22 pounds since January! I now weigh 182 pounds (something I haven't weighed since Middle School!). Now that I know I can actually do this, I just want to make sure I stick to it. And I was hoping joining a group of people with stories similar to mine would help me do that. I've read through some of the posts and I love how you guys motivate and stick with eachother. And i'm hoping this journey will be a little easier knowing I can turn to this place for support.

You guys are doing amazing.. Keep up the good work! And feel free to message me or anything, if you have any questions or just want to chat :-) Though, just a warning, i'm pretty much completely socially awkward..

Hi everyone, my name is Debbie and I am 4'11 and 50 yrs old. I am new to the team and SP.
Four years ago I started my journey of losing weight and toning my body.
I lost 25 lbs. over two yrs. I now am down to 95lbs. and have been able to keep
the weight off for over two yrs. My goal is to maintain my healthier eating habits, weight, and exercises. I still to this day struggle at times with eating healthy snacks . I find myself to be
an emotional type of eater. Binge eating is another problem that I have at times.
Although at times I struggle, I find this healthier lifestyle well worth the time and energy.

Hi,I'm back. here I go yet again.....5"1" , 43 years old, 187 lbs, looking to lost 75 lbs. In my head I know I can do what is needed to lose this weight. Yet I let my love for my hubby control what I do. He is disabled and gets frustrated when he can't do thing he use to so not to bruise his ego more I don't do as much exercise as I could. I know it is hurting me. It's a struggle that I am trying to over come.

Hi, everyone, I just joined this team, and just wanted to introduce myself and maybe get some feedback too. I joined Spark back on 1/25, joined a Gym on 2/19 and pretty much have been working out 4-5 times a week since. Total loss in inches 14 !!! havent checked my weight as of yet. But I don't feel I really have lost any weight. I need to lose at least 56 lbs. and that would put me at about 17% body fat. But I would still prop be Obese. I am 4'10 so I am super short, lol. Think I m the shortest one on the team. I have always been a thick girl. And worked out on/off my entire life. I'm a Medium/Large frame.
I was reading about everyones' calorie ranges, goals etc... and noticed the ranges are so low. This calorie range thing has me going a bit nuts to be honest and just worrying about it, I think I'm going to hit a plateau due to the cortisol that is being released from the stress. My concern is that due to my lean mass being so high at 150lbs for my size, my basic calorie ranges are 1480-1830 if I want to lose 2lbs a week. and these are the days I don't exercise. On some days that I do exercise the calorie ranges can jump up to 3500-4500 the highest. I have never eaten that much. So on top of the deficit that Spark as created for me to lose 2lbs a week. I am way under my calorie ranges when I exercise by 1000-1500+. That bothers me. I don't want my body to think I am straving, because I am not. I am eating ALOT. Any help Pleaseeee. thanks for taking the time to read this and for offering any advice if you have some.

Hugs

Hello! I am Sandra, 5'2' recently out of the 300 club. I have always been "heavy" but I am now more focused on loosing the weight and becoming "healthy". I have medical issues that are not always under control and loosing the weight will assist in some of them. I have been consistently staying on the "plan" and been successful with it. So far, I have lost 17 pounds since I restarted sparkpeople in January 2014. My goal is to loose as much weight as possible by August 2014. My target weight loss is 100 pounds from my starting weight.

Hi - I've been a member here for quite a while, I've lost a bit of weight, and am 5'1/2" tall ! I'm ready to lose a few more pounds and inches during this next year and hope to find support here with all the other 5'3" and Under folks.
It does seem to be an extra challenge when a few pounds looks like so much more on us shorter folks.
And when you go out to dinner, the portions are usually for 6 foot 200 pound men!!

Keep on Truckin'

Hey everyone!

I'm 4"11 and 3/4 so I just tell everyone I'm 5 foot! I'm trying to get back down to the weight I was in high school, and so far I'm about 1/3 of the way there. I am so excited to continue on this journey. I love eating well and working out- I wish I had more time to spend at the gym! My schedule is crazy. I also do "INSANITY" on days when I want to get a good work out in but do not have the time to leave the house and do a long work out routine.

I am confident that I will be able to meet my goals by the end of this summer! Good luck everyone :)

I am llou and have been on SparkPeople since late 2009. I am 58 years old, currently weight 153, and wear a size 14 petite. Having lost 50 pounds over the last few years, I am now trying to figure out what my maintenance weight should be. With disproportionately short legs, it's unlikely that I will be able to maintain a weight in the bottom half of the healthy range -- and maybe not in the upper half either! Let's face it, an inch of torso height weighs more than an inch of leg height on average.

I am also at the stage at which "extra skin" is also a problem.

I started my journey towards a health life style 6.5 years ago when I was diagnoses with Diabetes Type II. The weight loss and exercise has kept me off medication for that and my diagnosis has been officially changed to insulin resistance. So I watch my carbs.

Hi, My name is Colleen and I'm 5'1". Been a member since 2006 but not consistent. Not easy for me to get on the computer everyday. I have a school reunion this summer and really want to focus. The food and water part of my weight lose journey I've got but exercising regularly is my down fall. Shoveling snow is what I am doing now and not much else. My bad.

I have been on SparkPeople since 2009 and only just now saw this team!! So I joined!
I'm 5'2 3/4" ..... of course, I'm gonna claim every little bit that I can! I want to finish losing weight including the few I've gained back. Recently had a death in our family (my FIL) which has been devastating so I have definitely gotten off track. I have a bad back as well so I have to be careful however, I'm trying to exercise back to the point I was before where I felt stronger and my back felt better from the strength I gained through exercising and losing weight. Definitely needing some motivation!! emoticon

Hello all!

My name is Janel. I am 5'2'' . I want to lose weight because being overweight makes you look shorter and frumpy and I want to look athletic and healthy.

I'm 5'3". I am trying to lose 20-25 pounds. I want leaner thighs, a flatter stomach and toner arms. When I weigh less, I feel happier, prettier and more youthful. I am learning that eating well and getting regular exercise is the foundation of everything for me to feel great.

Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm 31 years old, very quickly approaching 32. I am 5'3 and 150 lbs. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager. My highest weight was 173lbs. My goal is to reach 135lbs which is a weight that I haven't seen in a long time. I'd like to hit this goal or come close to it by 3/30 which is my birthday.

Around xmas I was 153lbs and I weighed in at 149.6lbs this morning so I'm heading in the right direction which is certainly helping my motivation level. I usually do really well during the week and then destroy all of my progress over the weekend. Any tips that you may have to help me avoid this on the weekend would definitely be appreciated.

I have been doing pretty good lately. I'm getting better about taking my daily multivitamin, drinking enough water and watching what I eat. I go to the gym and do an hour of cardio about 4 times a week. I still have bad days where I find myself wanting to eat junk and I lose control. Typically this is when I'm stressed out or sometimes I eat simply because I'm bored.

One day at time....here we go!

Hi! I'm Megan, I'm 18 and I'm 5'2! I weigh 161 pounds and I'm trying to get down to around 130 depending on how I see my body then. My measurements are Chest: 37.5", Arms: 12.75", Tummy: 37" (ugh), Hips: (A whopping) 40.5" and Thighs are 20.25". I'd love to lose 15lbs by April, which is my birthday month. I see that goal as plenty of time to reach it. Right now I'm on day 4 of my new lifestyle. It's been a struggle, but I posted a blog post about it this morning. I was blessed by being built like my father, all weight in tummy and thighs, but I'm gonna work hard to make it even more beautiful than it already is. I believe in order to make a change, you have to love who you are to start with. Acceptance is key to moving on! :D I hope to get a buddy with similar goals or anybody who wants to be friends!

Hello, My name is Bri, and I am 5'3" and needing to loose 140 lbs believe it or not. I need to a complete ME. I love this site! I just started on 1/1/14. :) So far, I have been successful tracking my food and keeping within the recommended calories for my weight loss. I sometimes go under because I figure, I'm only 5'3, so not sure if I should think that way. Hope to meet new friends in this group forum!

Best to everyone in 2014,

Bri

Hi, I'm Pat from Michigan. I'm 5'1" now and trying to lose 100 pounds in a year. I just got tired of being fat last spring and I've dropped almost 30 pounds so far. I'm pretty proud of myself and I workout alot to reach my goal. I am very motivated.
Anyway I live with my DH and DD who attends our local college. She and I share a car so I either bike or walk home from work each day. It is only 8.5 miles and just a glorious route. I love biking and it is my preferred way to travel now. I try to walk at least 12,000 steps a day most days. Sometimes I don't hit it and I feel bad but I always have another day to try again!

This year is all about me and my quest to unload this extra person I have been hauling around.

Hi, I am Kat.
I am 5'1. I have never been overweight, but I have always been out of shape.
I am on here looking to lose a few pounds and tone up.
I do not have a scale but I am guestimating around 20 lbs of fat to lose or turn into a little bit of muscle.

I am the shortest of my friends and my family. For the longest time people did not know how short I was, because throughout high-school I wore 4-5inch heels daily. When I am at home, I am barefoot. The first time a friend would come over they would have a look of shock on their face when we walked in the door because within a second I "shrunk" to them.
Nowadays I wear flats, but that's more because I no longer have heels (due to a previous dog of mine and lack of funds).

=^.^= Meow
