Welcome to the "short people" team, Jennifer. I know what you mean about taller people. I will read about someone buying a pair of jeans in size 6 or 8 and they weigh what I weigh -- and I think "what the ---?" I sure can't fit into that size. But you're right, it's all relative. I see lots of people on here who's goal is the weight I started at.
Hope this works for you, as I'm sure you felt terrible at 212 or even 177. It is a lot harder when you are short -- and of course the older you get the harder it is. Try for short term goals, like maybe 1/2 a pound each week + a certain amount of exercise minutes. If you try to change everything at once, it's overwhelming!
Hugs, Eve

Hello, I am Jennifer. I'm 5' 2.5", and my starting weight and highest weight was 212 on scale at home. I am down to 177 now, and still trying my hardest to reach my goal weight of about 120-130 pounds. I joined sparkpeople on september 23, 2012. I've only struggled with weight after I started having kids, before that I was in underweight to healthy range all throughout my life.I'm new to the team, and thought all of us people who are on the shorter side need some support from each other. I see a lot of people who look skinny at 150 pounds but then they are 5' 10" wish I were taller sometimes. Wishing all my fellow teammates the best of luck.

Hi! I came back to SP in the beginning of February 2013 once again. I am 65 years old and 4' 10" inches tall. At my highest weight I was 170 pounds due to medication I was taking. Several years ago I was within 19 pounds of my goal when I had major oral surgery several times and had to be on soft food for about one year. That was the end of the new beginning for me. My last visit to my PCP had me at 160 at the end of January. Since February I have been eating and tracking my food as well as exercising more. With my history of medical issues I can not keep this weight on me. I am aiming for one pound a week. I know it won't be consistent but it will average out over time.

Hi Laura! Welcome to our Team! I am the same height as you, and when I was young I was one of those skinny people who could eat anything -- and tons of it. I paid no attention to what my BMI was, as I only weighed 105. But as I've gotten older and gained weight, I see that for a female who is 5'2" you have to weigh 135 or less to be at a healthy BMI -- so you and I both have a bit to go, don't we?
I think cold weather just tends to make you eat more too -- the comfort foods of winter!

Hi my name is Laura and I am 5'2 and weight 190. I was never really overweight according to the BMI scale until I moved away from the hot weather in Arizona to the horribly windy and cold Wyoming. I hated going outside and would always wear lots of bulky clothes to keep warm and that's when it all started to get out of hand. Since I had the exucse of not wearing bathing suits anymore I ate whatever I wanted. It wasn't until I had my daughter that I got close to seeing 200. I was 192 pounds after giving birth. I decided to get back into shape for my best friends wedding and got back to my prepregnancy weight of 165. Here recently I gained it all back. I want to be healthy and keep up with my child.

Welcome Faith! Isn't it funny how some of the shortest gals end up with the tallest husbands?
At one time I was married to a man who was 6'2" and I am 5'2" -- it always made me feel so dainty and tiny! lol

Hi Everyone!! My Name is Faith and I'm 25 years old & 4' 11". I was a cheerleader all through school and was always in shape and hardly ever worried about my weight. BUT once I graduated & stopped exercising I began to gain weight. I have been with SP for about a month now an I can already see the change. My goal is to loose 10 pounds and get back into athletic shape. Glad there is a group for shorter people. My husband is 6'3" and he doesn't understand an extra 10 pounds on a 4'11" body is like 20 on an average person...My weight all gets pushed into my stomach because I have NO waist..lol!! I hope everyone meets their goals...Good Luck!!

Welcome Jenny! That's a lot of weight to carry around for a little gal. Have you tracked your food or kept track of exercise -- there has to be a reason for such an astounding weight gain.
Best of luck at getting back to being petite. Hugs, Eve

Hello everyone! My name is Jenny. I am 51 and five feet tall. I'd gotten up to 210 and am currently 170. Before the holidays I was 158! My goal is 120. I never weighed over 98 pounds till I had my first child at age 32 and I doubled my weight to 198 in 8 months. I have struggled ever since to get back to a healthy weight. Any and all encouragement, motivation and support will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jessica! I'm the same height as you, but almost triple your age. At your age it should be fairly easy for you to get down to 120 in time for your wedding. Keep track of what you eat, and be sure to get exercise every day! It's an easy solution -- sometimes difficult to do, but always worthwhile!

Hello! Im Jessica, 26, 5'2 and currently 147 pounds. Im on here because i often find that diet and excersize can be very different for us shorties. For someone like me 3 pounds lost can be a noticable difference on my small frame but to someone of average height, not so much.
Im trying to lose weight for my wedding next year but also just want to get in shape and live a healthier lifestyle. I would love to get down to 125 or 120, but right now i focusing on the first 5 pounds. Nice to meet you all!

Hi! I'm Jennifer and I'm 4'10"! I'm looking forward to joining this team and having support from people who are just as short as me! I have a daughter who is 5 and is the smallest in her class so just might have Mommy's gene's. I've been married for 13 years to a wonderful husband who is much taller, but that doesn't matter to me.

Hi all - I'm 5'3" in the morning when my spine is uncompressed...and even then, I have to stretch pretty hard to meet the 5'3" mark. In my mind, I'm probably more like 5'10", so I still find myself getting surprised when people I know stand close to me and I realize that they are so much taller than me. You'd think I'd be over that since I'm 33.
I've also found a place where my height is an asset - I'm a coxswain for a rowing team. Mary Whipple, the cox for the women's 8+ boat that won the gold this year is just under 5'4". And I'm actually one of the taller coxes at my club. Horray! Now I just need to get my weight back into a coxswain range and hurry up and graduate so that I have time to actually get out and work with the team.
Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

Hi Julie! -- I'm 4 inches taller than you, and I usually feel pretty short. I guess the good thing about being as short as you are is you can date all the guys who are too short for the tall gals. I know it's a hassle to always have to hem your pants, etc. -- but it's just us. We're stuck with it.

Hi Limdur -- I think the thing about circling your wrist with your hand is if your thumb and little finger overlap you are small boned, touching medium boned, and not touching big boned. It is a bit misleading however because some people have very short chubby finger, some like me have long slim fingers. I go mostly by how tall you are. For example if I weighed 136 and I am 5'2" tall I would just make it into the healthy BMI, so obviously should try to get more in the center of that range. When you find the chart, keep changing your weight until it shows you at a healthy BMI == then you will know your weight range.

Hi there! Sounds like you’ve done really well so far. I’ve seen two approaches to working out an ideal weight to aim for. There is obviously standard BMI, which will tell you the healthy weight range for your height. I also came across one website that worked out a decent aim, based on what other people of your body shape were aiming towards, which is more encouraging as it shows how our aims and motivations adjust as our body does. For someone who only has 10 pounds to lose, they may as well aim towards the bottom of their healthy weight range, whereas someone who had a lot more weight in the first place will do amazingly well and feel the benefits even if they stop slightly earlier before choosing whether to continue or not. In terms of frame measurement, there is a trick where you find the boniest part of your wrist where the bones protrude, and then circle round it with your thumb and finger from your other hand (google this cause I can’t remember if it’s index or middle finger). If they significantly overlap, you’re small-boned. If they just touch, you’re medium-boned. If there is a big gap, you’re big-boned.

Hello, Limdur here. I'm 5'2" and 22 years old (though I keep getting mistaken for a 16 year old). I am hoping to lose about 20 pounds. I'm 155 currently and would like to get to at least 135 or 136. Not quite sure where I should be weight-wise, since I've been overweight for a good portion of my life (puberty is not nice to the women in my family, we just gain and gain and gain like crazy while the men stay like rails until their mid-40's).
I've so far been able to lose 45 pounds since August 2011, but have hit a bit of a weight loss rut. Part of it is probably because I'd been sick for about a month and then traveled a bit, so not many good eating options.
However, I'm planning to get back into my routine of exercising 6-7 days a week and eating healthier. I've been in charge of more meals at home recently, so hopefully I can make them a lot healthier.
(Also, about knowing what weight I need to be, I think I have a medium frame? I used to think that it was a large frame, but I don't think quite so much anymore. Is there a definite way to figure out what sort of frame that one has and what a healthy range in that height is? It has been driving me a bit batty.)

Hi there!
I am in my twenties and very short (4 foot...and not quite 11 inches!).
I have a very curvy figure - full breasts, big bum.
Up until a couple of years ago I was generally hovered around 8.2 - 8.4 and never tried deliberately to lose weight. Then, without trying, I lost lots of weight in my final year at Uni. I think it was a combination of eating sensibly most of the time and walking LOTS. I didn't ever weigh myself regularly, so I'm not sure what size I was, but imagine it was around 7 and a half stone and very happy with my body.
After uni I went travelling for a few months in South America, put on LOTS of weight, and then when I returned I started a job which doesn't allow me much time to be healthy (long hours, at a desk, lots of travel abroad and eating out in restaurants) and got even worse. I no longer fit many of my uni clothes. I weighed myself around a month and a half ago and realised I'd gone up even higher - above 9 stone (a lot for someone of my height), so I've decided to start making an effort to get healthy again.
My plan atm is to eat healthy and try to do an hour's brisk walking a day. I'm a pescatarian (no meat but fish ok). I've been being good for about 4-6 weeks now, and am down to 8.5 as of today :) My rate seems to be losing 1-2 pounds a week. I'm not sure if that will be easy to keep up as I go lower.
I think my first objective is 8.2, with my ultimate one 7.12.
My biggest concern is a. keeping the weight steady in the longrun and b. maintaining if I am sent to work away from home again

Hi all! I'm Angelina. I'm 4'11 and as of today 107 lbs. my goal was originally 105 but might for for a few more because I still have unwanted fat. I'm glad I found a group of shorties! I'm on some other spark teams and some people on them don't realize how short I am and leave me comments saying I should not be trying to loose weight. But other short gal knows every pound counts on a small frame. Other than that I'm a ok with my height! Right now my goals are to loose a couple more pounds and tone tone TONE!

Hi Kristin -- short but sweet, that's us (as a group)! We're just half an inch apart as I am a true 5'2, eyes of blue. lol
I have never minded being short, however I was always tiny all through my adult years, I didn't gain hardly an ounce until I hit 50 -- and due to circumstances began eating all my meals in restaurants. That's a good way to gain weight very rapidly! I went up to a bit higher than you (162) and although I'm losing very slowly, I'm back to 137 now, and aiming for at least 10 more pounds to come off.
Welcome to our Team, and have a happy day! Eve

Hi fellow short but funsized people( my friends call me FSO or fun sized one)! I'm Kristin, 22 5'1.5 or 5'2 to make it easier haha. Senior in college majoring in Speech Therapy, applying to Graduate Schools for next fall. I was heavy most of my middle school and high school years, got up to 155, then started college and got down to 120. Lowest I have been is 115, but at the moment I am 135 and want to get back to 125 to be comfortable. i'm short but have a stocky build which makes life a little more difficult, plus i'm sure we all know how it is, a five pound weight gain on someone who's 5'6 may not be noticed but on us its obvious, so frustrating! I also have the round face and I'm continually being mistaken for a 14 year old *sigh* Nice to meet all of you!

Welcome, SDLEE -- and the way you describe yourself I'd say you are already in MUCH, MUCH BETTER SHAPE than most of us. You could almost say you were in maintenance. So, you lucky gal -- all you need to tone up and get a little better definition.
You are a smart gal, and you've caught your problem early on, so you should have no problem with getting to your goal!

Hello fellow vertically-challenged! I'm 26 and 5'1" my height doesn't bother me that much, yes, I've gotten a lot of comments and it's annoying to use a step stool to reach things in the cabinet (that's where I should keep any food I shouldn't have!) but I'll happily wear both heels and flats. My boyfriend is 5'10" so its not too bad.
What really annoys me is that I'm a young professional, with a graduate degree, trying to advance my career and I'm always mistaken for a college kid/intern. Now it's not all due to height, I know I have a round face and I'm petite in general, but it's definitely a contributing factor, and if I had a dollar for every time someone told me in a few years I'll be thankful for looking so young for my age, I'd be rich!
Anyways, entering college I was around 108/109lbs and at my heaviest (also during college) I was probably around 120-125 (I didn't actually weigh myself as I was afraid to, but I've definitely been in the 118 range). In the years after college I've held steady around 115, but now I'm trying to tone up and lose those few pounds that I do feel make a difference on me, given my height/size. Hoping others out there can relate!

I'm 43, 5'1.5" and weigh 163 Lbs. Ive been on spark people for a while. A couple of years ago I managed to lose 15 lbs and it felt really good. I was more active and I could do more, running upstairs did not wind me and my knees never hurt. Unfortunately I fell of the band wagon-a factor of being short! I had to keep my calorie intake below 1200 to be able to lose and keep the weight off-and I was hungry all the time because of it. It was very difficult to keep going because of it. And it wasn't any much of a dramatic weight loss either-a pound a week. I think I eventually just gave up and went back to my bad habits. Now here I am-weight came back and then some. I'm going to try again, but this time up the calorie intake to between 1200-1400 and see how that goes. Even if its only half a pound a week, I need to find something that I can sustain over the long haul. Wish me luck :D

My name is Lisa (nickname is Kitten due to the fact I REALLY love Hello Kitty). I am in my middle/upper 30's, married for 15yrs to a wonderful supportive man that I met while in the Army. I have two beautiful children, a Daughter, just turned 13 and a Son who is 11. They are my entire world, I don’t have any "outside" friends to speak of and family, well there is big issues there. I have been on Spark for over 5yrs on and off, mostly off the last 3yrs. My first year I went from 180 to 135 (size 20W to 8) and I loved it, felt healthy even though according to the BMI I was still "fat" ...I am only 5ft tall, disadvantages of being short, ugh. Then life happened. I hit rock bottom with depression. By Oct 2008 I did the unthinkable and went back home, which I had promised myself when I left I would NEVER go back. So we left Oklahoma and went to Wisconsin. We ended up living with my parents 11months, however about 8 months into that my mother and I had a falling out, real bad. I started having panic attacks and wasn’t able to sleep, I would go days without being able to go or stay asleep. We moved again in Aug 09, just across town, so it wasn’t much better. We lived in such a small town everyone knew what everyone else was doing. My Dr suggested that I try to go back to work in an attempt to reverse my severe social anxiety and depression. Well it back fired, I found work in Feb 2010 and had to stop by Aug 2010. Things just went from bad to worse. By this time Sept 2010 I reached my heaviest weight EVER, including pregnancy weights, 186. I was on medications for Manic Depression, severe anxiety, CFS, Restless leg syndrome and developed Fibromyalgia. By Feb 2011 I was on disability and would only leave the house when absolutely necessary about once a month or less. March of 2011 I decided I needed a program to keep me on track so I started P90X which I completed in 113 days (normally takes 90 but I had to take it a lot slower due to my body hating me). After I finished in July I for some reason hit rock bottom again and haven't been able to pull myself up since. In Dec my DH's work contract ended and has been without work since. We have moved again, from Wisconsin to Texas, to be closer to his family and get me out of the toxic location(even my DR said I wouldn’t even have a hope of getting better until I moved FAR away). We have been in TX for a little over 2 1/2 months now and I am still in a "funk". I cant seem to get and stay started. It seemed as if every friend I had made in the last 5yrs disappeared and I was doing this alone. I am usually the one everyone turned to when they needed help and now that I FINALLY admit that I need that help returned no one is there. So I deleted my previous account and now am started fresh with EVERYTHING. I need some sort of kick start and I just have to find the right leg to give it to me.
If I get to wordy just let me know to "shut it" cause I can go when I get going. Oh and if I ramble I am sorry now, my brain gets foggy at times and may seem like it makes sense but I go back later and read and sounds awful...lol. Hope I am not scaring anyone from getting to know me and I would love to get to know each of you better .

Hi Cindi -- welcome to the 5'3" and Under Team. I'm fairly new here myself, and I'm the same height as you, and my long-term goal is the same as yours. Back 100 years ago when I was your age I weighed about 114, and even at 50 years old I was only 124. Soon after that I was in a position where it was necessary to eat ALL my meals in restaurants. Gained 25 pounds without hardly noticing. Then somewhere over the years I think another 10 or 12. I'm back down to 138 now and haven't been that low since 2002, so SP is working.
Being short some of the rules don't seem to apply to us. For example, SP advises me to eat 1200 to 1550 calories per day. In reality if I don't eat only about 1000 or 1100 I can forget about seeing the scale move. It's just how life is for us. Hope you get to your goal!
Hugs, Eve

Hi all! I'm 26, 5'-2" and have learned to love my height! What I don't love is how quickly any extra weight makes me too "soft." Officially I have been a part of Sparkpeople for a while, but have just recently rededicated myself to losing pounds and living healthy. I am very excited about finding a group of people who will understand my struggles with weight on a shorter frame!

Hi! I'm 4'10". It's so hard for other people to understand what it's like to lose weight or even maintain at my height. It seems like I eat so much less than everyone else. All of my friends and family are average height or above.

Hi Everyone! I am 5'1" and about 185 lbs in my early 40s. I was always 118 or less in highschool, 128ish in my early 20s and started putting on weight in my late 20s, early 30s. Around 34 I did weight watchers and lost 45 lbs and felt awesome. Then I met and moved in with my hubby and the weight climbed back on, plus more. Although my original goal was 120, I will be so happy to get back to 130.

I'm 27 years old and I am only 4'10, when I was younger i HATED being short. Now I definitely don't mind it. My finance is actually 6'5 so it looks hilarious! Being short and chubby is just not fun though. It looks awful :o( well to me it does. i did a weight loss challenge a while back and lost over 30 lbs in 3 months. I felt horrible inside, people told me I looked sick. But suffering with body issues since i was younger, i thought i looked good. Well, now I know what is healthy and what isnt and im on my way to lose a healthy 24 pounds!! It looks like sparkpeople has helped a lot of people, including my aunt who introduced me to this site so im looking forward to it!

Hi Fellow Petites! My name is Eve and I'm 5'2. I can't say that I really mind being short, as it makes me feel more feminine and dainty. Except when I'm painting -- I'd like to be 5'11 then so I could reach a bit higher. lol I'm also very thankful there is such a thing as "petites" when I'm out shopping for clothes. Although I do have a long body, my legs are short, which is not a good thing -- looks-wise. But we have what we have, so you need to accept that. My only daughter has really long legs, so at least she didn't take after me.
I just happened to notice this team today, although I've been on SP for over 4 years. You'd think in 4 years I would have reached my goal -- but no, I'm still working on it. Improvement has been made, but there is still another 15 pounds to go in my estimation.
I am the Leader of 5 different teams. Look at my profile page -- maybe you'd like to join one of them. See you around, and good luck to all of you. By the way, I'm a Senior and glad of it.

Hi everybody! My name is Brittni. I'm 5'3", 20 years old and I have been overweight for the past 4 years. It was slight at first but now after years of ignoring it, my weight is too out of control to ignore anymore. I lead a very active-less lifestyle, spending most of my time in front of a computer. But now I am looking to change that. To be at my ideal weight I need to lose about 50 pounds, but I would be happy with losing 30. I am hoping that this site can help me reach my goals.

Hi Everyone - I'm not new to SP but just saw this team. I am 5'0" and still need to get about 25 lbs. off. I used to be 5'1" when I was younger but suddenly I'm 5" even. I'm certain all of you can understand why I'm bummed about that because when you are this short loosing 1" is nothing to sneeze at! In looking at this thread, I can see there is a big age variance and so I'm sure there are many different goal weights based on those age differences - even for people who may be the same height. When I was 28 I weighed 105 lbs. but I would look awful at that low a weight now - I have 2 little grandsons and that's all I'm gonna say . Regardless of what our goals are, I am very happy to find all of you shorties because we have a particularly tough struggle with weight - we don't get much margin for error. Looking forward to reading your posts and finding out how you are handling these challenges, and maybe sharing some ideas with you all.

Hi, everyone I am so glad to have found this team. Sometimes I really don't like being so short. I have short legs and that makes it so hard to keep up with my husband . My husband is almost 6 feet while I am only 5'2. We have a 21 month old baby girl right now who will probably surpass me in height by the time she is a teenager.

Hello, everyone! My name is Tiffany and I stand at 5'0" tall. I was excited to see that this group existed, especially because it's difficult to find individuals that are right around my height. I currently live right outside of Chicago, IL but I'm planning on moving to the Phoenix area in July. My current goals are to eat healthier (and keep up with it for longer than a week!), tone those muscles, and lose 10 pounds. I look forward to getting to know you all and providing you with support during your journey!

Hello, I am Pamela, working on becoming the 'new Pamela'. I was last at my target weight (healthy bmi in 1999) waaaay too long ago. The weight has crept up on me so slowly I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. I have an amazing awesome hubby and he is very health conscious. He is my inspiration. However, inspiration alone didn't cause me to lose weight. So here I am trying to learn new tricks from similar minded folks. I really wish there was some calorie counter that took into account height. I really cannot believe my calorie target is 1200-1500 when I'm trying to lose pounds. I'm thinking 900-1100 is more realistic, but instead of arguing I am living by the plan, losing very very very slowly, and really focusing on making this a lifestyle change. Thanks for being here!

Hi all, my name is Michelle and I am 5'2. I have been with this team for a while but haven't introduced myself. I live in Kent, Washington, am married and have 3 children. I have been homeschooling them for the past 10 years. I want to lose about 40 lbs. SparkPeople is helping me do that. It has been pretty slow so far but that's ok.

I'm Brittany, and I'm 5'3 and 136 lbs. I was always really skinny until I met my now-husband 2 1/2 years ago. I gained about 20 lbs. since 2009, after my first year of grad school. I don't know what changed to make that happen, but I'm ready to be gorgeous for my husband again!
Like most (all?) of us wonderfully short women, I have a damn hard time finding pants too! I end up wearing skirts a lot out of frustration. I look forward to sharing those frustrations with you all and learning how to continue dealing with my vertical challenge!

Hi! My name is Vanessa and I'm 5'1 around 130 lbs. I'd like to lose around 10 lbs - or whatever amount of weight gets me down to the size where I feel and look good. I love exercising but am a picky eater so I have a harder time getting a variety of healthy foods in. Strength training (and feeling/looking strong) is something I enjoy, so I have no dreams of getting down close to 100 pounds.
Looking forward to getting some ideas and support from others who know what a difference 5 pounds can make on an itty bitty body frame!

Hello Everyone!
I'm Cin, I'm new to this awesome team but not to SP, I am 5'0" and currently 161 lbs. I've been this weight for a few years now, I can't seem to stick to any plan i map out. I'm hoping interacting with active groups will keep me motivated :) I can't wait to get to know everyone and maybe motivate everyone as You all are already motivating me!

Hi everyone, I'm Karen and 5'3" with shrinking a tad with being in my 50's! I'm so glad to find this team. How fun to relate to others that are short also in stature. My husband is 6'6", so yeah, you get the picture. A cute couple for sure! ha! I started SP in August of 2011 and have gotten almost 50# off total with 12 of those pounds before SP. I never thought I could ever lose weight any more with especially being on Prednisone for my Rheumatoid Arthritis, but I'm finding out that I actually can with stepping up on the moving around and eating more freggies and whole grains, lean proteins, etc. I love the program, it's just a matter of doing it. It seems to be more attainable for me with the food tracker and everything else and all this doesn't cost anything! That was the killer before with WW around 10 times and spending all that money and gaining it all back plus every time!! I'm hoping to lose 40# more, because I have to for my health. Diabetes is rampant in my family. My sister died of type 2, age 54 and that broke my heart, but it also go me more serious about myself!!

wow, spark really does have a team for everything - and everyone! i'm susan, 60 years young, and somewhere around 5'1" or 2" - not really sure, but it fits the bill. i was thin (105 lbs or less) until i hit 30, then had to work to stay around 107 through my 40s, but when i started working at the computer all day in my late 40s, the pounds started piling on - 162 at my worst. since then, it's been the yoyo, up and down a few times. in jan 2011 i hit my goal of 111, bought great clothes, and then went up again by summer of 2011 so they did not fit anymore. i had been on SP since 2006, but did not really participate until march this year. since then i have dropped about 10 lbs, and have just a few more lbs left until i hit the 111 goal - but since this has worked so well, i have a new sneaky goal, 108 lbs, behind there. we shall see!

I'm Ruthie, a tall 5'3". I retired from teaching last June, I should lose 50 lbs but would be happy to lose 30. I am married for decades, have an empty nest, love my life but can't seem to make the changes necessary to lose some weight. I learned how to sew so that I could shorten clothes and I have no sympathy for tall people who complain about not being able to find pants that are long enough.... :)

Hey everyone! I'm 19 years old and 5'1" (or well, close enough.) I weigh somewhere around 140 right now. My highest weight was 170 and for a bit, I was at 132-ish but I had about two months of being discouraged and not exercising and I'm back up on the scale again. I really need to work on consistency and not carb-binge eating when I'm sad (so I say, but I just had a bad day and had peanut butter toast... sigh). If anyone needs someone to kick them in the butt or if you wanna kick someone ELSE in the butt, just add me! I'm an open book!

Shout out to my fellow shorties!
I'm Gina, I'm new to the team but I've been Sparking since 2010. I'm 5'2 and I've been stuck right around 140 pounds for too many months now. I'm trying to shed those last 10-15 pounds of fat that are keeping me rolly, polly, and squishier than I want to be. 130 sounds heavy for a target weight on a 5'2 frame but I'm carrying around a good bit of muscle these days. :)
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi I'm Lucinda 5'1(use to be 5'3) and weigh around 140-145. Last year I weighed around 110 until I had my hysterectomy in February and over the next few months gained 30 pounds! I've been on SP for about 6 months and my first goal this year is to get healthier then go for the weight lose. I have to eat gluten free which is a challenge in it's self on a small budget with all the prepared food being very expensive. I do believe between the 2, SP and gluten free I should be able to loose some weight. Also started some strength training 3 days a week and of course the daily walks with my yorkie Toruk. Glad to join the site. Lucinda
I will do my best to meet and surpass my goal. Never stop learning or trying to achieve success. Never give up keep plugging away. If it is to be it's up to me. .

Hello! I'm Christal and I am 5' 1.25" but claim 5'2". I look 5'2" with my shoes on. I am 33, weigh 250 something, last time I knew was 255 last month at the dr's appt. Yes, I am going to gain a little bit of weight due to OB, but who says that I can not be healthy? I am fighting with COE/BED, whichever you whatever you want to call it, since 1989, at the age of 11. This ain't something I can live the rest of my life with. I am a grown woman with one, fixing to be 2 kids and need to live for them. Well, that is a bit and piece about me.

Hi all, I'm happy to find this group! I'm 37, 4'10", and currently weigh 140. I'd like to be closer to 125 by the start of the summer and I'm following the 17 Day Diet. I only found SP about 2 months ago and have really found it a great resource. I certainly gained most of my weight over the last few years, eating out a lot and enjoying an active social life (which often includes a lot of Wine). I'm trying to curb that by eating at home and staying away from wine, sugar and other refined carbs.
I have lived in Hong Kong for the last four years and originally from the states. Love living here!

Yay a team for people as my mother used to say "I'm not fat I'm under tall"-she had a Garfield night shirt with that printed on it or as I say "People whose legs don't go all the way up". I took after her-short and fat-need to loose 45 lbs

Hi team,
I'm Cindy. I am 4'8" - I currently weigh 118 and need to get to 103, per my doctor's instructions. (15 lbs? I thought she would say 5ish) LOL
I'm hoping to find some friends who like to work out. Most of mine are lazy smokers. If you live in N. Dallas area and are looking for a Spark Buddy I'm available. (Oh, and you have to be a woman...no male buddies! LOL)
Thanks for hosting this group! Cindy

Hi I'm new . I am 5'2 and 152.4lbs. That may not seem that big but because of being so short I learned that the highest I should way is 137 so I am trying to get below that so that I can be at a healthy weight for my height according to the charts.

Hi, my name is Tammy. I am 5'2" and 337lbs.. I have been on sp for 3mos and lost 27lbs so far... I love the teams, support, challenges, and trackers.. sp has really made a difference in my life.. I look forward to being an active part of the team...
Hi all! I've been on SP for a few months now, but only recently found this group. I'm 5'2" (well, actually 5'1 and 3/4 an inch, but I like to round up ;) and 36 years old. I need to lose at least 40 more pounds before making it to my goal of 120-125. I exercise at least 5 days a week (2 days of Zumba, 2 days of Jazzercise, 1 day of walking with my husband) and eat about 1200-1300 calories a day (as per SP) but tend to lose weight kind of slowly.
I'm glad that I found a whole group of people who are near my height, and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all! :)

I am Judy- Been a member of SP for a couple years however just become pretty regular in the past month. During my 13 yr tumultuous, abusive marriage I packed on a great deal of weight. My 5'1 frame carried a very ugly 177lbs. Post divorce and with a great deal of healing my inner self, I began to work on dropping some weight through exercise and strength training. I made it down to 123lbs but made the mistake of becaming complacent. Found out the hard way that maintaining weight also takes some work. Over time, due to unforeseen and overwhelming stresses the weight crept back on. Before I knew it I was back up to 164. As a single mom of 4, I learned there is little in this life that we have complete control of however our weight is something we have within ourselves to improve. My last weigh in, I was at 147. My 1st goal is to be at 130 by March 1st, 2012 but ideally I would love 120. I am trying not to be a slave to the scale but rather how I feel. Absolutely loving this site!

HI! Im am new to this team (but not new with sparkpeople). I have been a longtime spark people member. I started at 176 and am now down to 158. I am 5 feet and every "extra" pound is seen easily on my small frame. My trouble areas are my legs and stomach. My goal weight is anywhere between 120-115. My dream goal is 110. Glad I found this team!

Hi, I'm Cheri and I am 5 foot 2 . I weight 155 now but am trying to lose at least 5lbs before becoming pregnant with our second child. I got to over 200 lbs last pregnancy and I started that one at 165lbs so I am trying to change my bad habits now so that I will already be practicing good ones by the time I am pregnant with my second child. My ultimate goal weight is anywhere between 125 and 135lbs. Hope to be there by the time I am 36. That gives me a year and a half and if I don't let myself gain too much weight during the next pregnancy then it should be possible.

I'm 5 foot 1 inch and 180 pounds and will turn 50 on Sunday. I was 112 in my twenties and gained a lot very slowly after age 30 (it kind of snuck up on me!). I'm a medical transcriptionist for the past 15 years. I'm married and have 2 dogs, 5 cats, and an iguana. I'm trying to lose 50 pounds. Thats the last weight I can remember looking good in clothes! even though not so good out of them! I think its sad that I sometimes see before and after pictures and think the before pictures aren't so bad hehe

Hi everyone : ) My name is Denise. I am 46 and 5' 1"....mother of 2 young adult women, and have a 5 1/2 yr old granddaughter. I am celebrating my 29th wedding anniversary today. I was never overweight as a child, but have spent my entire adult life battling weight gain/loss. I lost 45 lbs eight years ago...and have slowly gained it all back, and then some. I have depression and anxiety which I am prescribed medication for. I have tried at least 9 different anti-depressants and they all stop working after a while even when the dosage is increased. I am currently taking 40 mg Paxil and I believe this has caused recent weight gain as I have continued to eat healthy and exercise. Back to my Dr. next week to discuss this and have complete blood workup to see if there are any underlying issues I am not aware of. I also have severe hearing loss which began eight years ago. It is a hereditary condition which has become considerably worse. Without my hearing instrument I have 95% loss in right ear and 85% loss in left. This also contributes to my depression and anxiety. I am tired of trying new medication...but I am hoping my Dr. will prescribe something that will not cause weight gain no matter what I do. I suspect I could have some hormonal issues as I had a hysterectomy eight years ago, and one ovary was left...I wonder if it has stopped producing enough hormones...we shall see. I think entirely too much...LOL...I just want to get to the bottom of this and feel good again. I currently weigh 190 lbs, which I have not weighed in 25 years...that alone depresses me...but I will try to be positive every day and continue to work on my goal of reaching 120 lbs. One day at a time! : )

My name is Celina, I'm 25yrs old and 5'3". I'm proportioned with a pear shape, I carry majority of my weight in my thighs and hips and then the remainder ends up on my midsection....I'm currently 155 lbs....and my goal is 120lbs, which is perfect for my height!! I joined SP in April 2008 when I was the exact same weight I am now, I did lose weight, I went down to 134lbs and stayed there for 2 years....until last year when 17 credit hours at college, 37 hours/week at work and a boyfriend that was nearly 700 miles away. I got very depressed being so far away from my boyfriend that I lost motivation and energy to workout and just focused on my schoolwork. At work we were so busy because of reduced hours that I didn't have the energy for much of anything when I came home. So, all my hard work at school paid off, I was awarded my Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences. So now, all I have to focus on is work.....and getting back into shape! I have difficulty staying motivated so I have made 2 goals this week that are fairly easy to stick to....exercise consistently 6 days this week, and since I'm doing 20-30 minutes of light walking with incline with my ifit workout card it should be fairly easy to stick to 6 days of exercise this week and my 2nd goal is no candy this week....at all!
My name is Tracey. I've been part of SP for years, and part of this Team for a while, but haven't known how to introduce myself. I am 35, and somewhere between 4'7 and 5'0. I'm hard to measure because my legs are different lengths, I have scoliosis, and I can't stand. So, that's why the uncertainty as to my height. Anyway, in December 2009, I weighed 210 pounds, my highest weight. I lost 60 pounds and went down to 140, but have regained about 10-20 of it, so I am about 150-160. My goal is to get down anywhere between 120-140. My doctor says 120 is the healthiest weight, but I've weighed in at 140 in the past and felt and looked great, so my first goal is to get back to 140. After that, anything else is a bonus! Since I use a wheelchair for mobility, and recently started using a motorized chair, exercise can be hard to come by... especially cardio. Right now I'm having some issues with my teeth, so I can't eat a lot of fruits and veggies. So, until I get all that sorted out (sometime this month) I am mostly focusing on improving my mental health. I have started doing deep breathing exercises on a daily basis (or at least trying to do them daily), and I have been trying to do more of the things that make me happy: namely crocheting, spending more time with my two best friends, and I just started taking walks down the walking path near our building. It's not giving me any exercise, but it is making a difference in my attitude, so that is a good start. Looking forward to getting to no everyone.

Hi Everyone! I'm brand new here. I've been on this journey for my whole adult life. Finally, last year, I started losing weight (20 lbs) and have kept it off. Seems I lose a few pounds and then hover "around" a certain point for awhile and eventually lose a few more pounds. I believe in and appreciate the power of prayer and the One who answers more than anything to help me along the way. But I also believe in and cherish connection with people going through the same things together. I hope to be an encourager her,as well as to be encouraged!

Hello Everyone!
My name is Irene and I'm 4'11.5". As we are all well aware, the smaller you are the more weight shows and effects your body. At 125 lbs my BMI states that I am overweight. While I am well aware that my BMI states I can be as small as 94 lbs, I am looking to reach a healthy 100-105lbs by the end of the year. I spent most of my high school years struggling between 115-120; college was 110-120; and my previous relationship was 125-130. My current boyfriend is much healthier than I am and I would like to keep up with him in many of the hobbies of which he likes to partake (hiking, cycling, snowboarding, running).
I commute to work and school on my bicycle most days (unless it's raining very hard), but it has proven to not be enough. I have ordered a new workout video set (Turbo Fire) and look forward to receiving it in the mail.... I work better with some guidelines. Once I'm in better shape I'd like to try to start running... perhaps participate in a 5k early next year (obviously with some training).
Thanks for taking the time to read, I know it was a bit lengthy! Feel free to message/friend me. I would also like to chat with people so message me if you'd also be interested.

Hi everybody. My daughter, MMINITEACH, had me join SP and it's been a terrific tool for keeping track of my calories, nutritional levels and choices. My being a true senior is just around the corner so keeping weight off, especially belly fat, is not easy. My daughter, sweet as she is, would also tell you I'm lazy when it comes to committing to exercise. Unfortunately she's right! I'm retired and have too much time on my hands. Aside from my daily aches - don't get me started - I should be paying much more attention to my activity level. Anyhoo, as long as no one calls me vertically challenged I'm good on a daily basis. Thanks for any support that can be thrown my way to lose about 7 pounds. At 4' 8.5" (more than likely 4' 8") I'm tinier than any of you so 7 pounds is a huge deal for me to carry around. My extra rolls will thank you.

Hi all, I'm a 5 foot 1 and a half (the 1/2 makes all the difference ). I am an ex professional dancer (used to be in CATS) and presently am a ballet teacher....a 110 kilo ballet teacher!! It has all gone on since I stopped being a working dancer, got pcos, had a baby and then the nail in the coffin....seriously damaged my achilles tendon which has meant no weight bearing exercise for 2 yrs now.Worse,I have become the kind of teacher I always hated...a sit in the chair teacher and all of this has exasperated the spiraling weight problem.Time to take control...I have already lost 9 pounds since i joined by daily swimming as it's something i can do without hurting the achilles tendon.Onwards and upwards......

HI everyone! What a great group! I'm 5' and I'm a dance studio owner/dancer/choreographer. I had a few surgeries on my knees over the past 5 years so I'm still working on rehabing both legs. I've lost almost 15 pounds so far and I'm looking to lose about 20 more. Spark has helped me get control over life in general and it has been great so far.

Hello ladies, I'm Elizabeth. Els to my friends and I hope we'll become just that. I've been here reading for almost an hour, relating to the clothes, weight-shows-on-us-shorties, short childhood stories, and other stuff. Not to sound too Bill Clintonish but, I feel what you're saying here. Always shortest in my class I grew to just under 5' 2" & at my largest weighed 245 pounds. Morbidly obese with a circumference exceeding my height I was motivated to loose nearly 100 pounds on the last one of many 'lifestyle' diet plans. That one was South Beach. I've learned a lot from each of those experiences & work to see them not as failures. But, here I am with a BMI just 2 points off of the morbidly obese range again. But something is different in me now that I'm counting on; part chronehood (which I adore being in my 50's) and part the results/payoff of learning to become genuinely happy not based on anything outside of myself.
You're welcome to come along on my journey. I'm being transparent, showing every bite and every minute I'm exercising...or not. I'm not relying on any plan but I know from a lifetime of experiences what works for me (we're all unique) and what doesn't and I'm open to learning new things. I'm making changes slowly & incorporating them one or two at a time until they become a habit then and only then adding another change. I'm counting on SP to be my social support since there isn't much from family or friends. My first goals are to Stay. Away. From. The. Scales. (eeeew that's hard) and make this all about developing Healthy. HABITS. I'm looking forward to getting to know each one of you beautiful women here. I love reading posts like the women who've said how they love being petite, it makes me stop and think about my height in a positive light. :) I wish everyone of you every success! Shorty, Els

Hey! I'm Caitlin. I'm a shorty like the rest, but I'm 4' 8"! I currently weight 143 pounds but my highest weight was 170. I lost 25 pounds in 09 and stayed at that weight for a while and put on 10 pounds and now I've been kind of stuck. I finally started trying hard at 155 and now have lost 13 pounds. I'm doing this for good this time! Feel free to add me and talk! :)

Hi Everyone,
My name is Samantha and I am 4'10". I am married and my husband is 6'3". I have always generally stayed within my "healthy" weight range, usually between 105 and 115. There have been a few times that I was around 90 lbs, but that happened in very unhealthy ways. I am currently at 148, but my heaviest was 156. I'm looking to get back down to around 115 and being healthy again. It's nice to meet all of you and I hope we all reach our goals!

A huddle is when American football players gather in a circle before a play and talk about the next play (plan). I think the analogy on SP is for like minded people to gather and discuss their plan to reach their goals.
I'm also new to the message board and have 40 more pounds to lose. I have a brother-in-law that lives in Portsmouth. My husband is from England. Where do you find the SP quizzes?

LOVE THIS!! I have been on SP about 6 months, and it has really helped me. I saw on my friend feed that a few of my friends have joined this team, and i thought " this is the team for me!" I am 5' 1-1/2", and have always loved being short, ( so much more comfortable on an airplane!) but it does make it harder to maintain weight. Even 5 extra pounds really shows...
My 18 year old daughter is 5' 1-3/4", and is SO happy to be taller than mom! My 16 year old is now 5' 5", and still growing, so she can't relate.
Glad to be here with all of you!!
I'm not losing weight- I'm GETTING RID OF IT! I have no intention of finding it again. (taken from a spark coach motivational message)

Although not new to Spark People, I am new to this team. I'm glad to have found this team because we're all in the same boat - always have to look up at people's faces, difficulty in finding clothing, difficulty in reaching high up in cupboards, etc.
I used to be slim, not skinny, but slim and yet I used to think that I could lose a little bit more. Anyway, time flew by and the pounds packed up on me. I tried to keep active as best as possible but I love to eat. I never refused food which was my downfall. Years of working did not help in the matter either as it gave me less time to exercise. Well, I no longer work and to date, I have lost 33 lbs thanks to my exercise schedule and watching my food intake. Today, I refuse food that I do not need. I measure my food and track it. I intend on losing 30 more pounds but I'm not putting a schedule to it but will be at 140 lbs by my birthday in September. Gotta work, work, work!
I'm glad to be here!
