Hello from Somerville, Ohio. I have so much to be thankful for.
I am glad that I found this group and hope to make some friends. What better group for me to join than with other fellow Christians. As the joke may be true how you can tell if a Baptist is in Heaven- they will be carrying a covered dish! That, until recently has been the church I attend. We used to have first of the month carry in ...all the fixings, but it is now to only a few times a year and I am so thankful that temptation is easier! I honestly and surprised that there is such a group here and until I seen it on anther's page I didnt know but so glad for it. Praise God.
I am a laid off local truck driver - love the job as I get a break in the winter - like now emoticon I am a Grandma to 8 that I treasure, a Mary Kay Consultant just getting started, and am awaiting the Sleeve surgery. I am a sunday school teacher, sing in the chior, hospital ministry, puppet ministry so very busy but appreciate where he has put me and all he has done. emoticon
I am so happy to be active in my life again. It has been a long time since I have felt well.
I havent lost much pounds but since I am working out it has been more inches and clothes are fitting better. Maybe I need a new scale too. I have many goals but the ultimate goal is to bring glory to my Lord in all ways and it looks like I am off to a good start!

Hi! My name is Beth. I'm a furloughing missionary, and one of my furlough goals is to change my habits to glorify Christ in taking better care of the temple He has given me. I started an exercise program on 5/24 and have been exercising 6-8 hours a week. I am still very sore, but determined to make this a habit. I found this site three days ago and am using the food journal and staying within my limits. This is going to be challenging next month when I start traveling to visit churches.

Hi! My name is Peggy, and I'm a friend of Tammy (TLANDERSON68). I have known about this group for a long time, but was a little disappointed that it isn't more active. Well, today I decided that I would join, and be active myself, and maybe we can get things going here. I like the idea of being on a team with like-minded people who encourage each other in the Lord. It looks like for many, He's the main reason for being here! I'm at the maintenance stage and am learning to eat and exercise in the right balance to keep my weight stable and stay healthy. Looking forward to participating here!

Peggy

Hello everyone, my name is Tammy. I trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour when when I was 10. The Lord has really been working in my heart lately about losing weight so that I have more energy to serve Him more. I live in NE Ohio and attend an independent fundamental Baptist church. I teach SS, sing in the choir and do whatever else is asked of me. I joined SparkPeople the beginnning of March but just found this group. At the beginning I mainly just used the nutrition and fitness trackers. I am excited to find a group of fellow believers.

Hi-I was very happy to find this team. My family and I moved to West Virginia a few months ago and the stress of the move has made me very lazy about healthy eating and exercise. I feel like I am finally getting back on track. My husband works for the Air Force and I get to stay home with our two teenage children. We homeschool and are very active in our Church. We work with the youth, teaching Sunday School, Wednesday night clubs, Boyscouts, etc. God has blessed me with a great life.

Hi! I'm Kristi. I am a stay-at-home mother to my two kids, my daughter is 4 and my son is 3. I am a (learning) helpmeet to my husband, Eric and we live in Olympia, Washington...for now. In two weeks we will be moving to Pueblo, CO which is such a blessing for us!!! We don't have a church home here in WA and I am looking forward to attending church again and fellowshipping with like-minded believers. So, I am really thankful that there is a Christian group here.

I have a few reasons for wanting to lose weight. First of all is to honor God in all that I am, and I truly believe that God wants us to be healthy. It honors our Creator and it honors our husbands (ladies...). The next reasons are a little more mundane. I would really love to have more children, but being at this weight poses so many health complications that we have waited. I would love to be blessed to have a large family. My last reason is actually my most pressing, while also being the most silly. My younger sister is getting married at the end of May and I am one of her bridesmaids (matron?), but the dress she has chosen does not come in plus sizes, so I really need to lose enough weight to get down to a regular size 16. The dress is also not up to my modest standards so I need to figure out how to put sleeves on it and add a camisole underneath....any suggestions?

Hello, I'm new to Spark People. I'm a 42 yr. old pastors wife from Big Bear, California. I'm a homeschooling mom of five great kids and need to get my act together as far as my health. I need to take care of the body God gave me. No more excuses!!!My husband, mtnpapa, just joined this group and encouraged me to join it also. This is all new to me, and I'm still trying to figure out all the great benefits of Spark People. It's great to see there's a IBSG!

Hi I'm Paula. I live in Maryland and "stumbled upon" this group this AM. I know it was by God's design, not accident, that this occurred. I have been saved since the age of 6 and am now a member of a large Independent Fundamental Baptist church in Westminster. I have had several brain surgeries, the cause for which keeps me from exercising aerobically. I also take a steroid drug for adrenal issues which has caused me to gain over 15 lbs in the last 4 years. And my BP has steadily been climbing, due to the adrenal problem, (it used to be so low I was passing out, now it's high enough to need medication to lower it.) I have been married for 25 years (this past August) and am a SAHM to a 10 yr old DD ( who was a blessing from God). I look forward to hearing from you on a regular basis. Thanks.

Paula, mom of a "big-little miracle"

Hey,
I'm Cara from Florida. I'll be 53 on Thanksgiving Day.
I'll be married to the love of my life 37 years Nov. 10th. We have 4 adult children, and 2 of the most precious grandchildren God could have blessed us with.
I received the Lord as my Savior when I was 28 years old. Jesus is my everything!
I have several health issues that keep me inactive and gaining weight. I can't exercise and I don't even drive a vehicle anymore.
I'm trying to lose weight by eating low carb and making healthy food choices.
So far I haven't made much progress. I still haven't given up though. This is the hardest time of the year for me to lose weight. Especially with the stress of what's going on in our Country. I tend to be an emotional eater. I think most people are.
I'm glad I know the Lord is in control.

Cara

Hi! My name is Chelsie. I am 24 years old and have been married to my wonderful husband for 5.5 years. We have three children ages 4, 3, and 2. (Two oldest are boys and the youngest is our girl.) I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and need to start taking care of my body through nutrition and exercise. I would also like to lose 20 pounds.

Thank you so much for this team! Hadn't joined any yet 'cause I was nervous about becoming too "yoked" with unbelievers. Praise the Lord for helping me find this team today!

My name is Yvonne and I am a mother of 7 and wife of 29 years. Between homemaking and home school I find very little time to exercise. To be successful I have been incorporating healthy life choices into our whole family lifestyle including exercising together and offering and requiring healthy eating before consuming treats. What I really enjoy about homeschooling is our daily time to read/study/discuss the Bible and pray together. An important part about good health is to maintain a well nourished spirit and soul.

I've been working on making permanent lifestyle changes since 1-19-06. So far I have lost and kept off 35 pounds. I still need to take off 20 more pounds to reach what is considered the maximum weight to be "healthy".

I hope I'm not too out of place here. I seem to be the only man around. I'm also trying to lose weight and keep my diabetes (type 2) under control. I actually came to this forum as I was searching for churches (independent Baptist) that are seeking pastors and were possibly considering closing their doors.

I have been seeking a church to pastor for several months. I would appreciate your prayers and any information you might have.

Hello. I am Steffani(pronounced Stephanie) I am a 37 year old stay at home mom of 4 boys ages: 9,8,4,and 2. My husband is a Youth Pastor and runs our Bible college at our church.(Parkside Baptist) I am struggling to lose my last 10 pounds. It has been a little harder lately b/c I have some major health issues going on(I posted about it in the prayer request thread) I was excited to see that there was a Fundamental Independent Baptist group.

Brenda,
You asked if it is important to God what we look like on the outside? I think it is. I don't feel like we should have to try to look like Hollywood....I don't think God ever really intended for us to look like that...and spend sooooo much time on our bodies and physical appearance....but, I DO believe that God intended for us to take good care of our bodies...after all, our boides are the temple of God, right? The truth is that most of us take better care of our houses and cars than we do our own bodies...and we only get one body! :) I think it is important to take care of ourselves so that we can have the energy to serve God and take care of our families and so that we can be a good testimony to the world. I understand what you are saying about having to devote soooo much time to trying to lose weight...I have felt that way in the last year also. This year I am trying to just eat healthy and squeeze in just a little exercise each day...or at least most days of the week....For example I am using Jorge Cruise's book called "8 minutes in the Morning" It only works out 2 muscle groups a day for 6 days a week and it only takes 8 minutes. It really seems to work. ....and then I try to walk for at leat 20 minutes a day. I usually have to divide it up into short segments. I guess the most important thing that helps me is that I wear a pedometer every day and strive to take 10,000 steps every day....these are ways that I have tried to stay at a healthy weight and hopefully, lose a few more pounds....yet, also stay balanced and not let the weight loss, diets, and exercise take total control over my life. After all, I have a husband to be a helpmeet to, kids to rear, and need to also serve God......I don't have hours to spend in the gym every day. Again, I understand you're struggle...and I hope this didn't sound "preachy" b/c I didn't mean it to sound that way....just saw your post and thought you might need a little encouraging. Have a great day!

Hi, I'm Brenda. I believe and put my faith in Christ Jesus, and I'm overweight. I am struggling with how important it is to Christ with what I look like on the outside, and how much of it is a ploy by Satan to keep us sidetracked from doing things that are truly important. If I am staying away from gluttony and laziness--then how much does the rest matter to Christ. Weight loss is taking a lot of my time, and I'm not sure if it really matters to Him... What do you think????
