Hey all, I'm not new to Spark People, but new to this team.

When I came back a few years ago I was over 200 lbs (at just 5' tall), I had gained so much weight after quitting smoking and knew I needed to do something. Once I got under 200 I promised myself I would not hit 200 again.

I lost almost 30 lbs and slacked off. I stepped on the scale one day and was at 198 (not 200) and said, you made a promise to yourself and you better get busy before you break it. I started again, got under 190, then 180 (where I am now) each time I pass a mile stone I tell myself we are not going back to it. It has worked this far and hoping I can keep it up enough to continue on to a healthy weight. I am feeling a lot better and it is so great when you haven't seen friends in a while and they tell you how great you look, it is probably my greatest motivation.

Weekends are my absolute hardest, my family is supportive but not on a healthy lifestyle (2 teenagers, a preteen and a husband who doesn't need to be) so it makes it difficult when they want to go out to eat or have pizza on Saturday night. But I have adjusted pretty well to that part, its keeping the workouts going on the weekends that I have been having the hardest time with lately but I know where I was and where I want to be so its just a one-day-at-a-time kinda thing right now.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this group and getting/giving the support that is needed.

Have a great day!

Leslie

Hi, my name is Andreja. I've been on SparkPeople for a year and a half, and have had "Just do it!" as a title on my page ever since. When I saw this team I said to myself, I want to start living by that quote again! Thanks for reminding me emoticon

Hey congrats on the weight loss Tina. Even more so on the continuation of keeping it off! You're with a good group of people here. We try and stay active on the minutes of fitness done daily along with starting up a new Questions and Answers thread we started up recently. Really hope we get it going, especially with all the knowledge of the 19,000 members who are all at different stages of weight loss. So welcome to the team and hope you enjoy it!

Hi everyone, my name's Tina. I've been looking around for a few new teams to join since my goals are shifting and this one seemed like a good fit. I lost 90 pounds a few years ago and have kept it off since March 2012. Now that I've got my sea legs on maintenance, I'm looking forward to taking on some new challenges. I just started a fitness boot camp program a few days ago with the goal of shedding a bit of fat and adding a bit of muscle, so keeping up with that plan and fueling my body appropriately are my short-term goals at the moment. My longer-term goals are to continue to keep my weight in check and to be as fit and healthy as I can be.

My name's Tina. I lost more than 90 pounds between March 2010 and March 2012 and have been keeping if off ever since.

Hey welcome Kelly! I also lost 50 pounds here on spark notes, but also managed to put back on another 25... Christmas food should really not taste that amazing. Anyways back on track and lost 20 again! :) You're in the right group, and hope we can help.

Hey :D I joined Sparkpeople today and this seems like the perfect team for me. For years I've been trying to lose weight so I plan, and plan and plan. The problem with that is after I plan, I don't do! Thats going to change right now. I'm going to be a do-er.

I would like to have some friends on here to keep me motivated, because no one in my family or friends circles know what its like or what to tell me when I lose motivation or need help.

Hey everyone! My name is Amanda. My main goal is to be more active, and to get back on the trails around my hometown. I miss being outdoors. I'm a full-time college student who works two part time jobs, and its difficult to find time to do anything for myself that doesn't involve mindlessly sitting in front of the television when I'm exhausted....

yeah, how about instead of mindlessly sitting in front of the television, I get up and do something, right?

That's exactly what I'm working on, and I am enjoying every minute of it!

Hi everyone,

My name is MJ and I just joined this team. I'm hoping it will provide me with some extra motivation. I'm just starting out on my journey to lose over 100 pounds. Some days it seems like I'll never reach my goal, but I'm trying to stick with it.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi, my name is Carolyn. I lost 14 lbs last summer, and put it all back on and more over the winter. I haven't been able to lose any weight so far this year, and I am hoping that this site will help me get motivated to eat right and exercise. I have depression (I am bipolar) so motivation is a challenge. Help! I need to lose about 60 lbs and it has been a long road. Hopefully September will be different!

Hi my name is Carmen I am new to this team. I have been on sparkpeople on and off for 3-4 years. I have been up and down and back up with my weight. I haven't even posted a pic in the past three years because I've been embarrassed with myself. Now I accept myself and am ready to take action to feel better, to look better, to have a better me.

Thank you all for having me in your group.

Hello everyone. I'm Jas. How's it going? I am on day 6 of my new journey to a healthier life and a healthy weight. I'm 5'2" female. Weighed in last Monday at 187.5lbs and really should be more like 117, although up to 125 would be ok. So, I am setting out to lose 60 - 70lbs. That's like carrying round a 10 year old boy all day every day!! I've had lots of attempts in the past with varying degrees of success, but eventually failed with them all. There are always genuine reasons and sometimes excuses, but this time, the excuses have to stop. I'm just going to do it! I know it won't be easy, and there will be times when it all goes wrong, but that's why I'm here. We're all on our own journey, but if we can each walk a little of the way together, the journey won't seem so long and so boring or tough. We can do it together. Good luck everyone. :) Just DO IT.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.
In half an hour, will you wish you hadn't eaten it?

I was going to say hi to all the new people, but then I realized... I never even introduced myself.

Hey guys. My name's August but ya'll can call me Auggie. Been on SP for about a week now and I'm already extremely excited by the amount of people that are just like me, wanting to get healthier. =) I have faith in all of us on this journey and know we can overcome anything!

Oh and... Hey other new people! =)

New here:) I just rejoined SP about 5 weeks ago and just wrapped up the 28 day boot challenge. I loved it and proud of myself for sticking to the program. I lost 6 lbs and clothes fit better. In truth, I just take this one day at a time and don't really think about my long term goal. I really define my goal as what I have control over, the food I eat and the exercise I get and that is the focus of why I am here. This is a journey from beautiful New England, where I live, to the other end of the country. Right now, I am enjoying the trip, but there have been times where I felt stuck at a traffic light in a nearby town for way too long:)

Somewhere in here is my long lost hourglass figure.

Hello, Team 'Just Do It!'. My name is Maria and I live in beautiful Ventura in Southern California. I have four grown sons and one grown step-daughter. All five make my husband and I very proud. I am fairly new to Sparkpeople. I joined in the middle of May, thanks to my son Eric (who is also on Spark). I have diabetes and had not been taken my meds or eating properly for the last 2-1/2 years. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER with elevated glucose levels. My son, god bless him, encouraged me to start SP and together we are supporting each other to meet our individual goals. I must admit, when I first started Spark, I used the Nutrition Tracker religiously and read many, many articles. However, I couldn't seem to get myself motivated enough to begin an exercise regime. A few weeks ago, I read an article that inspired me to 'Just Do It' and so I challenged myself to begin a walking regime for 30 days straight! I began with 10 minutes and am now to at least an hour a day. As for mileage, I began with .3 of a mile to walking 5 miles now. I feel exhilarated and better for doing something for ME! I saw the group/team and I had to join! Why? Because, my new motto IS: JUST DO IT! emoticon

Motivation gets us started. Habit keeps us going!

Hi all, and I am new as of today......not to Spark but to this group. I've been backsliding in my TOPS group, so I gotta get on the ball and get rid of the 8# I regained and lost my KOPS status. Too many emotions is what got me back up there, but I am determined to get rid of it! Hope you all are......JUST DOING IT!!!

Hey, new here. My name is Jenn, I am 26, and I need to lose 45 pounds for my health, happiness, and two weddings that I will be apart of. I have been trying to drop weight for about a year now with pretty slow results, but I need to kick it into gear. It isn't going to fall off on it's own. If you want to pop on bye for a friendly competition, please feel free, I could use the motivation.

I was always too thin until an early menopause. I`ve just gone through a year of cancer tests, surgery, chemo and radiation. Since I don`t drink, smole or take recreatioanal drugs I choose to lose weight and exercise more to help my health.

Hello All!

Kris from PA here...I am great at making plans, but also great at excuse-making! That's how I've managed to get to 230#...failure to stick with my best-laid diet and exercise plans. Having a team dedicated to excuse-busting and accountability is just what I need! Funny, just last week I actually put up sticky notes around the house saying "just do it" to remind my butt to get moving!

Hello All,

Need this "Just Do It" mentality to keep going and keep up the exercise. Wish me luck and Good Luck to you all!

Hi Justina, I can understand the cold keeping you inside. In New Zealand we are in the summer now but sometime even now we are having cold winds and I get on the cross trainer instead :)
Hold on to your determination. Once the weather changes it will be easier. Add me as a friend

Hi Clare, Rachel, Eflavin and Carolees,

I am Martha, 35 years old, recently married and live in Abuja, Nigeria. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teen and I currently weigh almost 100kg. I am always telling myself that I'll change my eating habits and eat right but always find myself over-eating or eating late. I am happy to be part of this forum and hope I'll find solutions to my problem. My major problems are portion sizes, eating late, indulging in sugary & fatty foods. I really need to lose weight for myself, husband and unborn children, I need all the help I can get. emoticon emoticon

Happy New Year everyone emoticon

Hi Rachel. Eflavin and Carolees,

I am Clare, 60 years old and live in New Zealand. I have always been up to double the size I should be.
Like you Carolees, I will be in a sedentary job from February onwards. I want to lose some kilograms before the job starts, to boost my health and sanity, (LOL) and am determined to just do it. No good waiting for inspiration, is it. I started on 30 December after a happy eating time over the Christmas holidays. emoticon

emoticon Looking at those tickers is really encouraging. This week I am aiming for 114kg

Hi, I have been with SP since Sept 12th. I have lost just over 16lbs and have so much more energy and pep in my life. Shortly after I started, I read an article or a blog that disclosed mantras and how they can help individuals with completing their goals. Within that article, they disclosed "Just Do It!" and since reading it that is exactly what I have been doing ~ Just Doing It!

Keep pushing and Just Do it!

I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off.
I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken.
My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.

Hi everyone,

My name is Sarah, I'm 22 and a full time student. I'm looking to get my eating habits under control. As well as working out regularly, but I'm doing fairly well with that one, most of the time.

I really want to try and change my views so that I'll be able to what is needed, for myself mostly, when it's needed/noticed instead of waiting until it becomes a major issue.

I'm hoping that by taking on the "just do it" attitude I'll be able to workout more and get my eating under control by eating better/not beige eating.

Hi! I really love the name of this team! So many times I have said to myself, "If you would just do what you say you want to do." I am hoping that I can get some support in this area. I am good about doing what I say I will do in areas of responsibility but not in areas of taking care of myself.

I want to weigh and measure and write down everything I eat and drink. I want to lose 15 pounds. It isn't a lot. But for me it is a lot. My clothes are all too snug and I don't feel comfortable when I do my sports. I will be checking in daily so I say. I hope I will do it. I would welcome any suggestions. THANKS! emoticon

Hi all! I'm Angelina. I'm 24 from northern Cali. I have been on spark people for about 2.5 months now. I'm just trying to find some new spark people groups that are fun and active to help me loose my last ten pounds. I reached my first goal weight a couple weeks ago and decided to go for 10 more pounds but haven't had quite the same drive I did before. Soooo hopefully this will give me the push I need :) I see there's actually recent post on here so that's a good start! I keep finding teams I think look fun and then they turn out to be totally dead! Good luck to everyone!!!

Hi ! I'm Celeste!

Just trying on different sparkteams to fit my needs. So far, the challenges look challenging and doable. Like that emoticon

I live in the Annapolis, Maryland area with my husband and 4 fur children (2 dogs and 2 horses to everyone else).

I've been working out since 1997 and have lost the weight but, over the last couple years put a good portion of it back on...while exercising. The hard part for me, honestly, is the food part. So, here I am on SP tackling that one....again emoticon

I love my workout DVD's and I have lots of them. I love Cathe, Kelly, Amy, Kimberly spreen, some of the firms...there's far too many to mention. And of course, I love a great horse back ride. Ponies are awesome.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi all! emoticon

I'm Kit...been a member here at SP for 4 years...but a lapsed member for quite some time now. But I'm back because I know it works. For the first time in my life, I've developed some health issues related to obesity and poor diet/lack of exercise...and I'm here to deal with those issues and regain my health.

Huzzah! Disclaimer: I am not a chef and not new to spark or weight loss. I have been more or less maintaining a major loss for almost two decades, although had a lot of ups and downs. Currently having a really hard time getting this last bit off after a regain. Tired of excuses. Love the title of this team. Woot!

Hi Team, My name is Justina and I am 25 this year. This time last year I was just finishing up Basic Training and was the fittest I have ever been in my life, after graduating AIT I came home (National Guard) and slowly but steadily have undone ALL the progress I made. But the one good thing that I know now is that I CAN do it cause I HAVE done it. I could really use the added motivation and accountability that a team such as this can provide. Here's to reaching our goals! emoticon

Hi folks! I've been a member here at SparkPeople off and on for ... years?... but I've never stuck with anything. I'm getting ready for a couple of big changes in my life in the next few weeks and now probably isn't a good time to worry about weight loss, but like my Spark page says, the "right" time has never come up in 20 years of being overweight!

My goals right now are simply to drink more water and start getting 8 hours of sleep each night. I've joined a challenge for each of them. The sleep challenge starts tonight. The water challenge has been going on for a few days--so far the most I've drank in 1 days is 7 cups. However, considering that I haven't been drinking ANY water, I'm happy with the 3 or 4 cups I AM getting.

I joined this team because this is what my husband tells me: Just do it. Stop planning it and DO it.

Hi everyone, I'm Fiona and I just joined SparkPeople last week. I need to lose 50 lbs and want to change my lifestyle to revolve around healthy living and physical fitness. My first goal is to workout six days a week (either gym or aerobics dvds at home), track my food, and to lose 10 lbs. To be sure that I don't get overwhelmed I'm just thinking of it as losing 10lbs at a time.
Good luck to everyone!

Hello Everyone,
I am fairly new to the website and I just joined the team today. I am trying to surround myself with individuals that understand how difficult it is to lose weight. I just want to try to utilize the site more and take advantage of all the tools. I have quite a bit of weight to lose and just have been finding it extremely difficult to stay consistent.

Learning to love me!

Hi My name is Anita I just joined the team.. I have been with spark for over two years.now and I will say my journey has gone very well, but I have been in a funk for about 6 months now.. just plugging along and really feeling like I am not getting any place.. I try real hard and I work real hard and sometimes I have the motivation and some times I don't I know one thing sometimes I make excuses of why I am not losing the rest of my weight.. but there is really no excuse and no reason why I am not losing the rest of this weight.. I need to get serious and get my spunk back .. It seems like it was so easy and fast in the begining and now I have been stuck at this weight gaining 1 pound lose two or gain two lose one.. I track my food daily.. like I brush my teeth.. I would not miss a day ... I know there are somethings that "bust" my diet so to speak and I can cut that out. I have gotten better in the past two weeks, about picking and giving in so easy to the quick pizza or someting that I should not be eating.. but I stay with my calorie range alot.. and I am active every day walking 3 miles riding my bike 10 miles.. going to strenght traning 2x weekly.. but I am left with the question of .... could I be doing more? is there something I could be doing diffrent? should I be doing this? it is driving me nuts and in sane..
sorry this is so long but I have been searching for answers on spark and searching for a new team to join for motivation.. and ideas and a kick in the you know what.
Glad I am hear and I am looking foward to getting to know everyone..
