I just joined sparkpeople because a friend told me about it. I have a lot of weight to lose and have been trying to figure out the best plan for me to be on. Thanks for having me.

Hello All!
Kris from PA here...I am great at making plans, but also great at excuse-making! That's how I've managed to get to 230#...failure to stick with my best-laid diet and exercise plans. Having a team dedicated to excuse-busting and accountability is just what I need! Funny, just last week I actually put up sticky notes around the house saying "just do it" to remind my butt to get moving!

Hi Justina, I can understand the cold keeping you inside. In New Zealand we are in the summer now but sometime even now we are having cold winds and I get on the cross trainer instead :) Hold on to your determination. Once the weather changes it will be easier. Add me as a friend

Hi Clare, Rachel, Eflavin and Carolees,
I am Martha, 35 years old, recently married and live in Abuja, Nigeria. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teen and I currently weigh almost 100kg. I am always telling myself that I'll change my eating habits and eat right but always find myself over-eating or eating late. I am happy to be part of this forum and hope I'll find solutions to my problem. My major problems are portion sizes, eating late, indulging in sugary & fatty foods. I really need to lose weight for myself, husband and unborn children, I need all the help I can get.
Happy New Year everyone

Hi Rachel. Eflavin and Carolees,
I am Clare, 60 years old and live in New Zealand. I have always been up to double the size I should be. Like you Carolees, I will be in a sedentary job from February onwards. I want to lose some kilograms before the job starts, to boost my health and sanity, (LOL) and am determined to just do it. No good waiting for inspiration, is it. I started on 30 December after a happy eating time over the Christmas holidays.
Looking at those tickers is really encouraging. This week I am aiming for 114kg

Hi, I have been with SP since Sept 12th. I have lost just over 16lbs and have so much more energy and pep in my life. Shortly after I started, I read an article or a blog that disclosed mantras and how they can help individuals with completing their goals. Within that article, they disclosed "Just Do It!" and since reading it that is exactly what I have been doing ~ Just Doing It!
Keep pushing and Just Do it! Dena

I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off. I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken. My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.

Hi everyone,
My name is Sarah, I'm 22 and a full time student. I'm looking to get my eating habits under control. As well as working out regularly, but I'm doing fairly well with that one, most of the time.
I really want to try and change my views so that I'll be able to what is needed, for myself mostly, when it's needed/noticed instead of waiting until it becomes a major issue.
I'm hoping that by taking on the "just do it" attitude I'll be able to workout more and get my eating under control by eating better/not beige eating.

Hi! I really love the name of this team! So many times I have said to myself, "If you would just do what you say you want to do." I am hoping that I can get some support in this area. I am good about doing what I say I will do in areas of responsibility but not in areas of taking care of myself.
I want to weigh and measure and write down everything I eat and drink. I want to lose 15 pounds. It isn't a lot. But for me it is a lot. My clothes are all too snug and I don't feel comfortable when I do my sports. I will be checking in daily so I say. I hope I will do it. I would welcome any suggestions. THANKS!
Let's go!!!

Hi all! I'm Angelina. I'm 24 from northern Cali. I have been on spark people for about 2.5 months now. I'm just trying to find some new spark people groups that are fun and active to help me loose my last ten pounds. I reached my first goal weight a couple weeks ago and decided to go for 10 more pounds but haven't had quite the same drive I did before. Soooo hopefully this will give me the push I need :) I see there's actually recent post on here so that's a good start! I keep finding teams I think look fun and then they turn out to be totally dead! Good luck to everyone!!!

Hi ! I'm Celeste!
Just trying on different sparkteams to fit my needs. So far, the challenges look challenging and doable. Like that
I live in the Annapolis, Maryland area with my husband and 4 fur children (2 dogs and 2 horses to everyone else).
I've been working out since 1997 and have lost the weight but, over the last couple years put a good portion of it back on...while exercising. The hard part for me, honestly, is the food part. So, here I am on SP tackling that one....again
I love my workout DVD's and I have lots of them. I love Cathe, Kelly, Amy, Kimberly spreen, some of the firms...there's far too many to mention. And of course, I love a great horse back ride. Ponies are awesome.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi all!
I'm Kit...been a member here at SP for 4 years...but a lapsed member for quite some time now. But I'm back because I know it works. For the first time in my life, I've developed some health issues related to obesity and poor diet/lack of exercise...and I'm here to deal with those issues and regain my health.

Currently having a really hard time getting this last bit off after a regain. Tired of excuses. Love the title of this team. Woot!

Hi Team, My name is Justina and I am 25 this year. This time last year I was just finishing up Basic Training and was the fittest I have ever been in my life, after graduating AIT I came home (National Guard) and slowly but steadily have undone ALL the progress I made. But the one good thing that I know now is that I CAN do it cause I HAVE done it. I could really use the added motivation and accountability that a team such as this can provide. Here's to reaching our goals!

Hi folks! I've been a member here at SparkPeople off and on for ... years?... but I've never stuck with anything. I'm getting ready for a couple of big changes in my life in the next few weeks and now probably isn't a good time to worry about weight loss, but like my Spark page says, the "right" time has never come up in 20 years of being overweight!
My goals right now are simply to drink more water and start getting 8 hours of sleep each night. I've joined a challenge for each of them. The sleep challenge starts tonight. The water challenge has been going on for a few days--so far the most I've drank in 1 days is 7 cups. However, considering that I haven't been drinking ANY water, I'm happy with the 3 or 4 cups I AM getting.
I joined this team because this is what my husband tells me: Just do it. Stop planning it and DO it.

Hi everyone, I'm Fiona and I just joined SparkPeople last week. I need to lose 50 lbs and want to change my lifestyle to revolve around healthy living and physical fitness. My first goal is to workout six days a week (either gym or aerobics dvds at home), track my food, and to lose 10 lbs. To be sure that I don't get overwhelmed I'm just thinking of it as losing 10lbs at a time. Good luck to everyone!

Hello Everyone, I am fairly new to the website and I just joined the team today. I am trying to surround myself with individuals that understand how difficult it is to lose weight. I just want to try to utilize the site more and take advantage of all the tools. I have quite a bit of weight to lose and just have been finding it extremely difficult to stay consistent.

Hi My name is Anita I just joined the team.. I have been with spark for over two years.now and I will say my journey has gone very well, but I have been in a funk for about 6 months now.. just plugging along and really feeling like I am not getting any place.. I try real hard and I work real hard and sometimes I have the motivation and some times I don't I know one thing sometimes I make excuses of why I am not losing the rest of my weight.. but there is really no excuse and no reason why I am not losing the rest of this weight.. I need to get serious and get my spunk back .. It seems like it was so easy and fast in the begining and now I have been stuck at this weight gaining 1 pound lose two or gain two lose one.. I track my food daily.. like I brush my teeth.. I would not miss a day ... I know there are somethings that "bust" my diet so to speak and I can cut that out. I have gotten better in the past two weeks, about picking and giving in so easy to the quick pizza or someting that I should not be eating.. but I stay with my calorie range alot.. and I am active every day walking 3 miles riding my bike 10 miles.. going to strenght traning 2x weekly.. but I am left with the question of .... could I be doing more? is there something I could be doing diffrent? should I be doing this? it is driving me nuts and in sane.. sorry this is so long but I have been searching for answers on spark and searching for a new team to join for motivation.. and ideas and a kick in the you know what. Glad I am hear and I am looking foward to getting to know everyone..

Hi everyone! I've been with SP for about two months now, and love love love the site! I started this journey one day by just putting on my running shoes and going for a run - on a whim - and have been at it ever since! I am ready to really crack down and hold myself accountable for working out and eating right...sometimes we can be our biggest demotivators, and I really want to combat that with positive thoughts and hard work!!

Well I feel like I have had soooo many millions of excuses...that this team sounds like it was made for me. I am married with one daughter who is 8 and my family and my full time job keeps me very busy. I do a great job motivating others and trying to encourage them to JUST DO IT... I however.... well you know the story. Now I am ready to JUST DO IT! So as soon as I am done with this post I think I will just go and exercise....

Hello. I switch my teams up every once in while and I liked the 'no excuses' thinking of this one.
Today I feel in control, but on some days I need reminders of that. This team seems like a great place for that.

Hi I am recently back to SP too after a long break. I know at the beginning it is easy for me to stay motivated. I am hoping that I can make a permanent life style change now. I think I am ready. It is hard to change bad habits that have been with me for my entire life. But maybe with small consistent changes I will be able to stick to the plan this time.

Hi All, I am Devon and I am great for being full of excuses. I have one for everything and frankly I am tired of hearing them myself. I have made a decision to get off my butt and do something about my weight. I have struggled with weight issues for quite some time and have come to the conclusion that it is not going to come off by itself. I am preparing myself to take major steps towards reaching my goal and I just wanted link up with others of like mind.... So glad to be apart

Hi! My name is Tiffany. I was on SP a while back but stopped due to alot going on in my life (divorce was the start of it). I let myself go during this past year. Now I am happy and in a wonderful relationship. But I am really depressed and down on myself for my weight and lack of self esteem so I came back to SP for the motivation and inspiration.
I am busy now with 4 kids (my boyfriends) so I don't have a lot of time to spend on SP but will make every effort to be as big a part of it as I can to keep me motivated as I know I will meet some wonderful people on here again that will inspire me.

Hello everyone! I have been making a lot of excuses lately. My friends and family have helped me make them as well. I gained 30 pounds in the last few months. No more excuses! It's time to get back on track. This week I have done a lot better but I have room for improvement. I need a group that is interactive.
I have health conditions and getting to my weight loss goals will help some of them. My name is Charm and I'm ready to kick fat's butt!I am so grateful for teams like this.
Hello fellow sparkers! I'm here to say "NO MORE EXCUSES!" I have been working out everyday for the last three weeks, and everyday I have said no more excuses even if I don't feel like it I do 30 mins of cycling, walking or some type of exercise.
I hasn't been this way always. I have been putting this off too long...My excuses were many and it's been strange but I look forward to my workouts now. I really feel great once I've completed my daily exercise. Hope to make new friends. I should introduce myself....My name is ML, I'm a mother of a teenage daughter and have been married for 22 years.
It's time to spark and get this weight down by making a lifestyle change! :)

Hello, I've been on Spark awhile, but decided to join a few more teams to add some depth to my Spark experience. I'm nearly to goal, although my goal has become a moving target of late.
I had been using BMI to set my goal weight, but thanks to ST, my lean muscle mass alone now exceeds my original goal weight. So although I put 150 as my goal for my Spark tracker, my ending weight will be whatever weight I am when I get to a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.80.
My current program includes kickboxing 3x a week, and resistance band strength / circuit training 3x a week. I'm also training for a week-long ride across Iowa in July (RAGBRAI), so trying to ride my bike most days. I've also recently joined an intramural sand volleyball team that plays weekly. We're awful, but we have fun and it's a fun way to meet new people for this recovering introvert.

Hi guys, I'm here because I'm always procrastinating and really need motivation. I've seen what I can do when I try but the sad part is, I don't put in as much effort as I should. I keep telling myself that I'll do it tomorrow but I never do. I hope that by joining a team and posting regularly I'll finally do something.
Thanks for reading, Have fun everyone!

Hi! I'm Nora and I just joined Spark. I need to try something new to stick to my weight loss goals. I'm a recreational triathlete and very active, but will often make excuses to skip a workout. This is my fourth season racing, and I am a bit overweight. I know losing some of those pounds will make my training much easier, and hopefully I'll do even better in my races this year. This seems like the right team for me!

Hi everyone! My name is Yia and you know what? I just need to get out there and RUN! Last year around this time, I decided to start running in hopes of running a marathon someday. And I felt really good out there on the tracks! For someone who could barely do two laps, I was able to do ten after a couple months! And then I stopped because the weather got colder and I got busier... And now, I'd like to get out there and run again. So wish me luck! This is probably...day five of making excuses??

(Sorry for the double posting) Hi there, I'm Sandra L. and I just joined Spark, hoping to, this time, with lots of support, finally make the turn for a healthy life that I can feel good about, I have two kids who are also without words, asking for this, because if I'm healthy they're healthy too. Anyway, I like exercise, that"s not much of a problem for me, I love running, I've ran two races so far, only 5k's, and I want to keep going until I can finally do at least a half marathon. My biggest problem and worst downfall has always been the food, I'm a sugar and carb addict that sometimes just gets out of control!, then I go back trying to be healthy but then the damage is done, that's where I need most help. I was attracted to this group by the name, I have nike t-shirts with that on them because I also believe that you just have to stop thinking so much about it and just get busy instead and do what you have to do! Anyway, I'm looking forward to this experience and meeting people with the same mind set and same positive mind.

Hello All.
I'm Zulma and I came to SP in August of 2011 with unhealthy levels of cholesterol. My numbers are better, and I'm glad for that. They need to become even better.
Like all of us, I've made numerous excuses to not work out, the one most often being I'll do it "later." Oftentimes, later hasn't come.
I've lost almost 30 lbs. since joining SP, but I know it could've been quite a bit more had I moved more. I'm here for that purpose.
Looking forward to sharing the journey with you.

Hi my name is Lizzy. I am brand new to this website but not to trying to lose weight. In 2007 I was involved in a car accident, that changed my life. I have a hip replacement and other injuries. I have also gained 100lbs. I have been on several diets, medications, personal trainers, and everything else and haven't been able to stick with it or lose anything. I am ready to get serious and stick with this website. I don't ever want to hear someone say "you are always pretty but fat" again.....

I have been a member of Spark People for quite some time. I fell off the wagon- partially due to some health issues and medication that assisted me in gaining a TON of weight. I have been away from SP for a long time, so I figured a re-introduction might be appropriate. I am 37 years old, and have approximately 80 pounds to lose. I have had enough- I am ready to really be here to give and receive support to the group. I am ready for some serious butt kicking. My body will never look like this again.

Hello, I'm a fairly active 53-year-old who has about 25 pounds I would like to lose. For the past year and a half I've been on Weight Watchers. In the first six months I lost about 20 pounds. I felt great about that and then for some reason let the weight creep slowly back. The thing that kills me is that I loved being thinner. I felt so much better about myself and had more energy. So I'm kicking myself for doing what I said I wouldn't do- I gained most of the weight back. I kept my membership to WW because I keep thinking I'm going to get back in the game. A friend recommended SP so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm hoping from support from this group, but deep down I know that this is up to me.
I may not want to change my habits, but it's the price I need to pay to get thin and healthy and stay thin and healthy.

I've tried it all: yo-yo dieting, pills, working out/pigging out, couch potato/starving myself, and everything else in between. I did a brief stint with WW and it was working, but then I had a car accident, and fractured my left kneecap. So now, I am limited to my workouts due to my knee, which is a shame because I really do enjoy a good bootcamp/circuit training, and high intensity cardio classes. Now I'm looking for ways to work around my injury while I simultaneously work on diet and rehabilitating my knee. I think SP and these team pages will definitely help me reach my goals!!! Good luck everyone :)))

My name is Mary and I just joined this team today, and its fitting its Valentine's day because I will give this Valentine to myself of joining this team. I have a tendency to write lists make goals and make excuse and the JUST DO IT just resonated with me and it made sense, so simple yet so profound. I look forward to becoming friends and supporting each other.
I have a great husband 3 grown daughters and 7 grandchildren. I am glad I married young and I am now "young" to enjoy them. Losing weight will help me to be healthy. Mary

Hi! My name is Aiste, I'm 30, married and I'm also a mom of a pretty daughter who will be 2.5 yrs old during Easter. I have been struggling with weight loss problems recently and I'm still trying to overcome binge eating. I really need to take charge of my life and to care more about myself and my body. I have booked an appointment with an eating disorder doctor in a fortnight, that's the first time I will be doing that but I have decided to seek help cause it's obvious I cannot cope with that myself for so long. However, apart from that I've committed myself to regular exercise (TurboJam as a start) and eating right and weighing once a week on Mondays. Good luck everybody! You are welcome to check my SparkPage ;)

Hi, Just Do It Sparkers! I've been a member of SP for months now but it was only this 2012 that I discovered how reaaally helpful it is to interact with other Sparkers and to join challenges! I'm a 22 year old college student living with my parents. I'm petite and have never weighed more than 55 kgs so I know that I should make use of the flexibility and energy that I have right now to be much healthier before I get old and busier! My goal may not be to lose weight but my figure gives people a different impression, that is, I look "fat" given my height of 5'2. Moreover, I also don't watch what I eat because, unfortunately, I have little control over what I can eat (my mother does the cooking). I'm also an expert procrastinator and losing in challenges doesn't feel that painful for me but I know that it's just a habit that I've had and that I can change that habit whenever I want to. And since taking care of our bodies is not just some graded exam or prerequisite course, I WILL be taking this seriously. I hope I can contribute as well to this SparkTeam!

I have been a member but not active. I just celebrated my 70th birthday!! I have bad knees and hip so exercise has been difficult. I bought a pedometer and I'm learning how to set it. I want to increase my steps. I don't want to lose my ability to walk. I am very over weight and that is another objective of mine. I am setting small goals to reach. If I lose 14 lbs I will weigh less than I have weighed in many years!!! :) Walking/measuring steps will help.
I am mom to 6, grandma to 16, great to 12. I'm retired from teaching special ed. I like to sew using upcycled materials, cook, garden, and help as I can my family and play with my grandchildren. Oh, I have a kitty. She was found abandoned along a road shortly after her eyes were open. I raised her from a bottle. She is my special friend.

Hi, I'm new here but not to Spark. I'm 48 and mother to 4. I've been on Spark about 2 years. I have some great streaks. 500 days drinking 8 cups of water and a little less than that for taking a walk every day. However... I have been slowly gaining weight since Easter. Good thing I kept moving or it might not be pretty. My main problem is eating while watching tv. I am working on tracking and staying in my calorie limit.

New Month - New Start. I started Spark back in 2008 and have been in and out of it ever since. Not able to find the right nitch, joining this team and that and never really making any true progress. I do well for a while and then the excuses start. I have my own excuses and even borrow some from others - why wallow in misery all by myself? Last year my sister and I decided to walk this journey together - neither of us have been very successful. I think we support each other a little too much - LOL. But she mentioned this team and sounded really excited about it, so I thought I would take a look. I didn't want to join just because she did, but after reading some of the other posts and forums, think this may just be what we are both looking for - some outside accountability.
So hello to everyone, my name is Deb. I am 53 years young, wife and mother. I want to be healthy and loose the extra weight that I have accumulated over the past few years. I want to finally stop making excuses and "Be the kind of woman that when my feet hit the floor each morning the DEVIL says - OH CRAP, SHE's UP!!"
Here's to our success!!

Hi everyone, my name is Tina, I am 48, married and mother of two. I have been a member of spark for a while and have not really committed to using all of the tools available here but have decided that it is time to get serious. I have used my chronic pain from arthritis as an excuse for many years but have decided that the extra weight does not help with that so it is time to stop using and making excuses and start doing something about it. I have tried many different teams here on spark and have not really had much luck finding the support and motivation I am looking for but I hope that I have found it in team "JUST DO IT". I look forward to getting to know you all and to finally get moving in the right direction.

Hey everyone my name is Marķa and I'm on my third day today. I'm feeling really excited and just bought myself a scale today. I've avoided diets, scales and everything else for years because I've been afraid to fail, also not ready to put myself 100% into reaching my weight loss goals. I really feel that now I have reached the place that I am ready, willing and able to put myself into it completely! I just found out about Sparkspeople and I think it's the perfect tool for me to check on my food intake since I'm usually an active person. I was hoping for these extra kg to magically disappear on their own before. Now it's my turn to make it happen. So "Hi everyone!!" :)

Hi everyone! I'm Betty and I have been a Spark member for a while but have been a slow starter! Every New Year I have the same New Years Resolution...you guessed it, loose weight! I know what to eat, I am able to exercise, I have support of family and friends but for some reason, even though I have good intentions, I keep procrastinating; tomorrow I will exercise, tomorrow I will eat healthy foods. Well, I realize I am not getting any younger (or thinner!) and I need to make this the year I get motivated, work hard and get into a routine of healthy living once and for all. I read some posts before I joined the team and everyone seems like they truly want to encourage everyone else; I think that will be a big help to me and hopefully I will be able to help some of you too!

Hi - Though Ive been on this team for quite a while, this is the first post I have posted on this team. Last year was really bad,but the ending was much better. I lost 3 lbs over the holidays, Thanksgiving through New Years, I went to the Dr yesterday and. got a good report. No gains and my blood pressure is good. What more could I ask for. Hugs - Loretta

I've been on SP a little over a year. Some big life changes happened and I gained back the weight I initially lost. I'm still working on reigniting that first Spark. I'm a master of excuses and procrastination and really need some help in the accountability arena, too. Sounds like this is the perfect team! I'm NOT giving up.
