Chocolate in itself isn't bad unless you are allergic to it. It's all the sugar that goes with it in most chocolate goodies. If you only like milk chocolate then slowly change over to a darker chocolate and then, maybe when you get used to that go even darker.
Whatever, eat sparingly because even dark chocolate has sugar, just a lot less than the darker kind. Coco nibs are the only way to get chocolate without the sugar but they aren't liked by a lot of people.

Always read the ingredients. A truly good dark chocolate will have simple ingredients (sugar, cocoa, cocoa butter, vanilla and not much else--except nuts!)

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Aloha Islandgirl -

It is hard to give up the junk because the more junk you eat the more you crave it. However, the opposite is true, too. Once you give up the junk, the cravings for it stop. I had NO IDEA that this was going on with me. My entire life I have been a chocolate/sweet craving girl - and then once I started eating clean, I stopped craving these things. I didn't know that was a side affect of eating clean it just happened. It is so wonderful! I know it seems hard - but do it in small steps and as time goes by it'll get easier and easier! Honestly!

Good for you Rachelle, the first step is always the hardest, most important but hardest. I am a fitness and nutrition specialist so feel free to ask anything that comes to mind, would be more than willing to help.

It takes a while to get the nutrition down but tracking is a key point. A good motivator is to track everything in Spark. Seeing how many calories and how much fat is in those foods can make you think twice about eating it.

Good Luck!

Hopefully the same thing will happen to you that happens to most - once you get used to eating healthy things, the yucky stuff won't even taste good anymore!

Hi there! My name's Rachelle and I've been a member of SP since Oct. '08. Unfortunately, I haven't been very active on the site since Jan '09 when I finally found a job here in NV. And before I knew it, life got busy with work, friends, family, etc.

But I'm back on SP and ready to be active on the site and this team so I can finally reach my weight loss goal emoticon !

My biggest struggle is the nutrition factor. After spending my whole life eating junk, it's damn hard to break the habit. I'm hoping to really get the nutrition part down this time around and this team looks like a great resource for that.

I hope you all are doing well and I can't wait to share this journey with you!
