Hi Gspeirs,This has really helped me in the past but I screwed up so I going right back on it. I bought the last one Tosca wrote: It's "The Eat Clean Diet Workout" I figured it probably has almost the same info, it has recipes and what I liked was that it has Tosca's workout "DVD" attached to the inside of the back cover. It shows you exercises & how there done in the book. I think it's very informative.
Also there's a Clean Eating magazine, which is great also. Good Luck and emoticon

Hi Thanks for sharing such great information! I'm new and have a lot to learn about Eating Clean. I have a lot of food allergies and had a SparkFriend tell me about Eating Clean. I think following the Eating Clean Plan I'll start feeling better and get healthier. I plan on getting Tosca Reno's Books. If you had a choice which one would you start with the Diet Book or would you wait until her new one comes out in August that has to deal with Families and children?

Take Care and Have a Great Week!

If you buy whole chickens and butcher them yourself, removing the skin, you'll avoid most problems with feed additives. It takes about five minutes and they're a lot cheaper that way. In my area, you can get a whole 4# chicken for about $3. I can get two solid meals out of that for my family - two whole legs with thigh attached, and two low-fat breasts. You can make soup or broth out of the wings and carcass, which is great for cooking (whole rice risotto, for example) or just ditch these pieces.

Arsenic, in the small amounts given to chickens in their feed, accumulates in the skin, so avoiding the skin on chicken means you can buy regular chicken instead of organic and enjoy most of the same benefits.

Thank you all so very much for you time and help. I'm a Christian and have been trying to eat the good clean food for a while now.

I can't afford organic Chicken...it's $20 for just almost a whole 3 pounder. I wish I knew some people in the country! emoticon

So I guess it's Tyson for me...didn't they have a scare not too long ago???

I will say this much...this group has taught me so much in such a short amount of time, and enough to know that it's a whole lot scarier food wise than even I thought, and I knew it was scary.

Thanks for the sites I will go and check them out this week when my dh goes back to work. I'm sorry I'm late in replying...for the 3rd time since I've joined SparkPeople I have once again stopped recieving the spark mailers informing me of new topics and replies...big sigh...I'm so tired of having to redo my email every month. lol

Anyway...I'm very glad to have joined up with all you experienced and caring people...thanks for all your help!

Yeah! I came across it by accident when I was looking for recipes for homemade nut butters... if you sign up for their emails, they'll send you an email on their "spotlight food" of the week (last week was spinach), and then every day you get a new recipe. I haven't tried any yet (haven't had time), but I they look DELISH! I can't wait to!

MICHTOTMAN, thanks for the website info. I am always looking for new recipes so I'm gonna go play around on that site some too.

Another resource is the "World's Healthiest Foods" website (www.whfoods.org) - it not only spotlights clean foods, is also gives you recipes and tips on how to prepare and cook them to bring out the most nutrients. I have enjoyed wandering through the site during the past couple of weeks!

Hi Pam! Here are a couple of web links that can give you an idea of clean eating. Basically, you have the idea...unprocessed foods without chemicals. At our house we call them "God-made foods". If they're in the same form as God made them, then they're o.k. I don't know about soy milk...I have thyroid issues and avoid processed soy because it is a goitrogen. I do sneak in edamame at least once a week!

Enjoy!

p.s.
If you are asking about the frozen skinless, boneless chicken breasts in the bags, they usually are pumped up with "broth" and preservatives to enhance the flavor. If you can buy the fresh, it's better and Organic is best. One interesting thing I just found out...Beware of very "pink" looking chicken. I just read an article that said a lot of the larger chicken processors feed their birds food laced with arsenic to make the meat look "pink", which consumers translate as fresher in the supermarket. Tyson brand is one that DOESN'T. On weeks when my grocery budget won't allow for organic, we buy Tyson or Amish.

Hi Pami, if you haven't already read the book, The Eat-Clean Diet by Tosca Reno would be a great place to start! Welcome to the team!

I joined and jumped right in without introducing myself...not meaning to be be rude, it's just I joined and left got busy, and belonging to over 30 teams I just forgot.
Here's the thing.

I am eating pretty clean, very basic food. Still, some of the posts I've joined in on I and have learned from has indicated I don't know hardly anything about eating completely clean. I won't eat processed food, I stick to mainly fruits and veggies, fish and organic omega 3 eggs, which I don't eat very often...Oh,and what about the skinless, boneless chicken breast in stores...are they okay? I also drink Silk Soy milk, vanilla...For some reason I haven't thought about it as possibley unclean because I was thinking healthwise. Is it clean and....

Where can I go to educate myself fully in all things clean?

Thank you so much in advance for your patience and help!

Pami xoxo
