Hi, My name is Tami. I'm 52 years old. I began changing my lifestyle in 2003 and have lost about 60 pounds, got off all my medications (blood pressure, water pill, etc.) and then plateaued for over two years although I was eating about 1000-1200 calories daily, strength training and walking. I still don't understand all that but never lost my resolve to keep off what I'd taken off.
Here's what brought me to this team. On March 28th I ended up in the hospital with c diff and pancreatitis. Supposedly the c diff was from taking antibiotics for dental work to be done and the pancreatitis has no explanation since it usually comes from heavy drinking (I don't drink at all), a rich diet, (my diet is composed of about 20-30% fats and they are almost completely good fats) and/or gallstones (I have no gallbladder since 1978). I think mine is called ideopathis (no explanation). After 12 days in the hospital I am still in a great deal of pain and have a long road ahead of me. I still haven't had the strength to exercise or strength train. The pancreas needs rest so I was told to go on a diet of lots of complex carbs, low fat and low protein. I used to really be into whole foods (in the 80's) but I lost all the weight on Weight Watchers and was eating lots of the fake fats
and diet foods. I'm trying to rest my pancreas by not eating any added dyes, chemicals, or sugar and I need help. I thought possibly some of you could help me because I'm afraid of gaining my weight back
if I begin eating nuts or whole grains. (My homemade wheat bread has 201 calories per slice and I was eating the 50 calories wheat bread with high fiber and lots of additions!) How do I do it and not starve. Thanks in advance...
p.s. I'm still having to steam my veggies to not have major problems with pain.
