Hi Aggie-nice to have another vegan here! Well, I'm still using up the rest of the whey protein I have but I'm 95% vegan although I've been vegetarian for 24 years. I've been eating clean most of my life without labeling it as that.

Hi,

Welcome aboard.

Wow... you've been dealing with quite a lot lately. Hope you are feeling well soon. Take it a day at a time and definitely with pancreatitis... don't rush the diet progression. You'll pay for it if you try to go too fast.

Take care!

Hi Tami and welcome to the team.
I'm sorry to hear you have been going through so much trouble. I hope that you find some type of eating plan to ease your pain and to rest the pancreas. My sister in law who is 31 yr has pancreatic cancer, so anytime I hear of people having issues with their pancreas my heart goes out to them. She suffered from the pancreatitis a few months back and that put her in the hospital for a few weeks. She was in so much pain, I do understand how painful that can be for you.

Take care of yourself,
Tracy

Hi Tami,

I think this team is a great place for you to get ideas. The only thing I wanted to add is to keep in mind that the eat clean "diet" by Tosca Reno that many here follow is high in protein. So you may have to modify that part until your restrictions are removed.

Whole Foods are the way to go. They give your body just what it needs. Nutrition. Think about the difference between enriched white flour and whole wheat flour or spelt. With the white flour your body processes it as sugar, it doesn't recognize anything else worth value. With the whole wheat or spelt, your body is able to use the protein and nutrients from it because it is recognised as a whole food.

Thanks...I do have a juicer from way back then and I'd heard carrots were good to use. I've set mini goals for myself, I guess I should change that. My actual goal is to be at 135 or so.
I'm researching all I can but seems like reading this team that some have done well with eating whole foods.
Thanks again.

Wow, you've been through alot! You've also come along way. From what I see, you are only a couple of pounds away from goal. The only advice that I can offer is to eat the way God intended. It sounds like you have been doing this along the way with the exception of "diet foods" also stay away from artificial sweeteners, use honey or Stevia- natural herb that is 100 times sweeter than sugar. You can find it in the grocery store were the sugar is or in the health food store. Did you know that Splenda is one molecule away from chlorine?!! I won't use it. One other suggestion, have you tried juicing? I juice carrots and apples together and maybe add some celery. Maybe you could make a healthy shake with banana, berries, pnut butter and yogurt. I hope this helps. I'm not a pro by any means, just trying to live healthy like you. Blessings, April

Hi, My name is Tami. I'm 52 years old. I began changing my lifestyle in 2003 and have lost about 60 pounds, got off all my medications (blood pressure, water pill, etc.) and then plateaued for over two years although I was eating about 1000-1200 calories daily, strength training and walking. I still don't understand all that but never lost my resolve to keep off what I'd taken off.
Here's what brought me to this team. On March 28th I ended up in the hospital with c diff and pancreatitis. Supposedly the c diff was from taking antibiotics for dental work to be done and the pancreatitis has no explanation since it usually comes from heavy drinking (I don't drink at all), a rich diet, (my diet is composed of about 20-30% fats and they are almost completely good fats) and/or gallstones (I have no gallbladder since 1978). I think mine is called ideopathis (no explanation). After 12 days in the hospital I am still in a great deal of pain and have a long road ahead of me. I still haven't had the strength to exercise or strength train. The pancreas needs rest so I was told to go on a diet of lots of complex carbs, low fat and low protein. I used to really be into whole foods (in the 80's) but I lost all the weight on Weight Watchers and was eating lots of the fake fats
and diet foods. I'm trying to rest my pancreas by not eating any added dyes, chemicals, or sugar and I need help. I thought possibly some of you could help me because I'm afraid of gaining my weight back
if I begin eating nuts or whole grains. (My homemade wheat bread has 201 calories per slice and I was eating the 50 calories wheat bread with high fiber and lots of additions!) How do I do it and not starve. Thanks in advance...
p.s. I'm still having to steam my veggies to not have major problems with pain.
