I know there are also some books out there about getting the healthy "stuff" (vegies, etc.) into foods that kids like, depending on how old your kids are. I just joined this team the other day and had recently improved my eating, but am trying to get better. It does help - this week instead of having a fudgsicle as an evening treat, or a 100 cal. bag of chips (which I only had occasionally, but still had), I'm having fruit - and it's because that's what my body is asking me to have! I don't even want those other foods. Sounds like you are really on track.
Hi everyone! My name's Kristi, I've slowly been integrating clean eating into our family, although I didn't know it. ;) I just knew all that junk we were eating **couldn't** possibly be healthy. Friday, I'm off to buy some books, then grocery shopping.
About me: I've been a member of Spark for quite a while, and had some AWESOME success. I was working out 6x a week, 2x a day, and eating my calorie goals... all was going great! Then I fell off the wagon, August of last year. I got a new job, first time in about 7 years (I've been a SAHM), and everything suffered. I have much respect for those women who can do it all, 'cause, let me tell you, I couldn't! In December, I finally quit, came back home, and got some things back in order, but never got back on the healthy track I was on. People were telling me I looked great, maybe even a little too skinny, so I thought all was good.
My husband started playing in a local lacrosse league recently. He's the fitness buff in the house, and when he started coming home from games not only winded, but discouraged and downright depressed at how he'd preformed and generally looked out on the field, I started wondering just how "good" I was doing, myself. I got back on the scale this morning... I've gained 10# since Feb!!! So, we've talked, and we're doing a lifestyle overhaul, going back to where we were, and becoming better examples for our 3 kids, who are, right now, junk food junkies.
SO, I told my family they have till Friday to get the junk either eaten or thrown away, b/c Friday is Errand Day, and after that, our healthy lifestyle will be back. I've done little things the past couple of months, trying to switch to a more whole/organic/clean lifestyle. Now, for us at least, it's time to take the plunge. It's the only way we get things done around here.
Geeze!! I didn't mean to write a novel! Anyway, wanted to say how much I look forward to learning from you all!
Kristi Wife to my beloved Mommy to 6 Blessed by the Lord beyond belief!!
