Sorry, I am not Deaf though at 65 I need hearing aides. I mostly want to support the captioning of films in SP. chris

GOAL: Reduce A1C,BP,tryglicerides,and weight. HOW? By not eating added sugar, using Omega3s, base meals on veggies, water aerobics at least 3X week and using NuStep when I can't get to the pool.

Thank you for the encouragement! This weight thing has just been a hard thing to conqure, especially when you like to cook and eat, but I am determined this time to not let the food win.

That is awesome about you only reading lips. That is a great skill to be albe to do like you do. I would be in trouble if I had to depend on lip reading only as my skill is not as developed as yours. Although I can read lips, the more I have to work at it, the dizzier I get, so the signing is of great support to lip reading if someone does both.

I see a picture of a dog... is it yours and if so, is the dog a hearing dog? I have a hearing dog too that helps me.

Thanks again and nice meeting you here.

Hello Everyone,

Today I am starting Spark People again. I was glad to find this group to connect with now, and to help me through this battle I am in. I have started several times before but things got in the way and I did not reach my goal. Really it was myself that got in the way... so I am starting again. My husband says: Today is a new day!

A little background - about 9 years ago I started losing my hearing and I learned I had Meniere's disease and it is only by the grace of God that I still have some left. I also have hearing sensitivity to loud noises and different pitches which make my ears really hurt and makes me dizzy, so my husband and I decided to learn sign language and get connected in our local Deaf community. This has been such a blessing. It was so exhausting for me trying to hear & read lips and be involved in the hearing world, so signing was the answer for us and it has worked out great. I don't have to struggle to "hear" my husband anymore or our friends, which has brought great peace to my life. I thank the Lord for the gift of sign language.

I am looking forward to getting connected here and sticking with the plan this time. I want to be healthy, and in shape... no more excuses. I really need some accountability so I don't stop again.

Be blessed and be Encouraged!
