Begrόίen Sie zurόck, Kelly! We've been "off the Spark" for a while as well, and in just one day we (my husband and I) feel re-energized. We have two Standard Poodles, and aren't they just models for health and fitness? Good luck with your goals.emoticon

emoticon Welcome back Kelly and Sam [belatedly]! Ooh that temptation! But together we can deal with it. Sounds so much better than limit the damage. I'm looking forward to spring too, though I might be tempted to try a little cross-country skiing if we get enough snow (1 or 2 weekends a year here in metro DC).

One more thing, Tara tells me to remind Sam that he's (she's?) welcome to chat with her and all the other friendly pups on their thread here.

Oh and if you can't do the sugar free hot chocolate, dropping in a square of real chocolate would be better than eating a whole sweet dessert! If you can cut down even you will see an improvement, but it's going to take some work on your part, but I believe that you are ready to take back your life!!!!

Aspartame is a nasty drug for sure. When I drink fizzy mineral water, I add lime or lemon or orange juice to it for a flavor so that I am getting a little bit of a taste too.

Thanks for the ideas! I have to see what diet hot chocolates we have that do not contain aspartame or Cyclamates though.... One nasty complication I have with sweet stuff is almost all of the sugar replacements give me migranes... I do NOT drink any diet sodas at all, I can however drink up to 2 liters or more of fizzy mineral water in a shift...

I have to keep going, I have a family history of diabetes, and unfortunately I have the star of arthritis in both hip joints due to birth defects (Hip displaysia) I want to be happy healthy and lean!

If you like chocolate and are a coffee drinker, here's a treat that helps me. I take a package of sugar free 25 calorie Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate Mix and pour it into a cup. Then I add hot coffee instead of hot water and stir it up really well. It's absolutely delicious! I got the idea from a "skinny" friend of mine who has a more fattening version of it from Starbuck's every morning. I find that it satisfies my cravings for a fattening treat and it's only 25 calories!

Hi Kelly! glad you are back. You know, one thing you can do is make sure you eat a good meal before you go into work. Then if you are just craving craving craving, bring some things to work with you that are sweet, sugar free cool whip with any kind of fruit that you like to put it on, plus a few sliced almonds for some protein. Anything that is a low calorie sweet would be good for you instead of the heavy sweets you are battling at work. Also take a small meal with you to work so that you are not getting hungry, something that has protein in it like string cheese (I love the Sargento light) and peanut butter crackers, an apple.

It will take a little pre planning on your part, but you can do things to combat the cravings for sugar. Sugar is an addiction just like nicotine and it takes a while to get it down to a dull roar. Also, nothing but diet drinks, no full sugar drinks and try to have at least one water for every diet drink you have.

No baking sweets at home. there is no use torturing yourself that way for sure!

Hi! Again emoticon

My name is Kelly, I'm 43 and I have a wonderful Partner and a poodle named Sam, who is a rescue from a shelter here in Baden-Baden Germany where we live.

This will probably be the 3 or 4th time We have both started Sparkpeople again, and the second time I'm joining the Poodle Club.

Weight loss is not an option, it is a necessity for both of us, and Sam will be our best hiking, Camping and Nordic Walking buddy once the weather clears up enough to do it!

I'm also fighting a major temptation at work, since I am a full time Pastry Chef in a very busy restaurant. God, sweet, ice cream, chocolate....

I can use all the ideas to keep me from both stress eating and mindless eating you have.
