I've kinda been away from here for a little while, thus the delayed posting.
Nice to meet you. I have a large mini, Mighty Joe, who is approaching 15 years old now. He is my comfort and joy!

Thank you. I love her brattiness. I find so often the really bratty ones are just so darn smart. Bella is supposed to be an apricot but she is more of a cream with apricot ears now. When I went to meet her and her littermates I had decided that I was going to be bringing home a male black puppy. Apparently I had no clue..lol. Mind you I think every color is beautiful. My sister-in -law lives in Montana and she has 2 male standards. Tango is red and Cash is black. They are beautiful. Stella Bella....that is a beautiful name. They really are beautiful stars.
Im am so sorry for the losses in your life. I have sometimes wondered how much we can take.I also went through a series of losses and changes that have taken their toll. Not all were bad some were just big changes. I lost my 2 beloved dogs within 2 weeks of each other. My beautiful whippet Cinder due to a crippling spinal disease at 12 years and 2 weeks late my beloved doberman Piper also 12 years due to cardiomyopathy. I felt as though my heart had been ripped apart. Then I lost my grandmother on Thanksgiving. Finally divorced my unfaithful husband who I believe was a big cause of my anxiety attacks and depression. Went to the States (Im from Canada) and ended up meeting the love of my life and finally moved down here to California. I am happily married and have 2 terrific stepkids but I find it very hard especially around the holidays because I miss my family and friends so much. This past spring I began gaining a lot of weight which I at first thought was because I quit smoking. It turns out I have hypothyroidism. Im still adjusting to life with it and I find the over 60 pound weight gain so depressing. Its hard when you feel awful and you think you look awful.
Bella has been a Godsend for helping me get out of my own head even if its just for a little while. Her father was ball crazy and she is the same way. She loves to play fetch but if Im busy she will play ball by herself. She flings it up in the air and when it lands she watches it tail wagging like crazy and then pounces on it. She does everything with this joyful abandon that I love. Its amazing that these wonderful animals are sometimes better than any medicine a doctor can prescribe. I am so glad that you have your Stella. I know that she will continue to bring you joy and laughter as you are gaining strength and health.
Congratulations on your new addition to your family. Poodles can certainly be bratty - they have minds of their own and like to get their way. They are so very bright! What color is Bella? Stella's sister, a black poodle, is named Bella, and actually, Stella's middle name is Bella. Stella Bella - the beautiful star. I thought I was getting a black poodle with a little white star on her chest when I got her, hence her name. However, she started lightening up at a few months old - it turns out she is a silver. Very pretty girl :-)
It sounds like you got your Bella at a similar juncture of you life to when I got Stella. I had lived through a series of devastating tragedies, having lost my granddaughter to SIDS, a student who was struck by a car and killed, my martial arts partner died of mesothelioma, my beloved German shepherd lost his battle with cancer, then my father and mother died within 3 weeks of each other.
Stella was a gift from the heart from a parent of one of my students, and it has been her feisty little self who has brought me back from the depths of deep depression.
Welcome Chris and Stella. We too have a standard poodle. Bella is just over 6 months and she is definately my ray of sunshine. Cesar Milan believes that quite often we end up with the dogs we need and I believe this is so true of Bella. She is smart and bratty and everything she does is done with such joy. She is teaching me to smile again and how to just live in the moment. No matter how badly I may be feeling physically or emotionally she never fails to do something that fills me with joy or laughter. I wish you all the best on your journey of health.
Hi Chris and Stella. I am Sue and we have a lovely toy poodle, Maggie. Welcome.
There is a thread in this Team that the poodles write in. Yep, we always knew they were bright. Look for it - What is your Poodle wanting to Share? www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
You may be surprised what Stella has to say! We never know what these pups will be talking about. hahahaha
We have another service dog in our group - Gibson and his new sister Twilite is in training. So Stella you are in great company.

My positive affirmation, said many times during the day:
I am happy, healthy, slender and prosperous.
Welcome from Jean and Cole. You'll get the hang of it soon!
Hi, I'm Chris. We added a standard poodle to our lives last year, and it has been quite an adventure. Stella is bright and sassy, working as a therapy dog in my classroom, and will turn 2 next month.
I am very happy to be joining this group, although I am still trying to make sense of the site. It has been a slow start, as I have been enjoying a visit from my son, DIL, and 2 year old granddaughter, but I hope to really launch in with my goals later this week.
After several extremely difficult years, I have found myself out of shape and tired. I live a busy life - still teaching full time, learning guitar, singing with a group, and training Stella to be a therapy dog.
My goals are to make time to exercise, rebuild my strength and flexibility, rehabilitate my back and hip, get my nutrition back on track, and have some fun doing this with our team members. Life got too hectic; now I need time to take care of myself. I'm looking forward to 'meeting' you!
