Gosh, so sorry for the "boxer issues". I agree with MiteJoe...gotta watch out for your own though. As far as you possibly getting another poodle, if you do you'd just have to give Chloe time to adjust to a new brother/sister. We brought in Buffy two years after we already had Raider and Snickers. At first they didn't like her, or so it seemed, but I think they were just trying to let her know who was boss. They're all just great friends now although Snickers gets irritated with her sometimes and will growl at her when she's had enough of her goofiness! My three love each other and I have built in playmates for them...poodles are such social creatures...they love (usually) to socialize and meet new people and new dogs!

I have lived by them for 10 years and know them very well. They were there when the dog attacked my dog. They did not correct the dog only said, I can't believe you and then said I wonder why he did it. We have been to their house for New years and other things like 4th of July cookouts. They simply do not care.
I want to say thank you for listening and some advice. We love our little poodles and we have to fight for them they are so small. But Thank You for caring. This is really a super place and some really beautiful poodle babies.

Have you talked to them about all this at all? I hope they are paying you to watch the boys. Maybe it's time for you to first extend the olive branch and get to know them better? Maybe they are reasonable people?

I'm still rooting for a soft solution here...

The bad part... I am supposed to keep their two boys 2 days a week this summer. On the other hand they are greedy as my husband says. They never call unless they want to borrow something or to see if I can do them a favor. They make nearly 175,000.00 a year to our 38,000. more or less and yet they always want something.
I have had to call them before because he is constantly turning over our trash cans and pulling the garbage across our yard. I have pictures of it. I don't really know what else to do. He was back in my yard today in the front peeing on my bushes when I opened the door and my little one went to go outside and he stood and stared at her till my husband took off running toward him. He took off through the woods. What to do. I will search for the best way to handle it. Sad part is this boxer loves me and when I am home alone and a strange car comes up our private dirt road he runs after them. A guard dog you know!

Gotta ask this one...how friendly are you with the neighbors? While I like the idea (and the boxer deserves it!) bringing their dog to the pound will start an outright war with them.

There's gotta be a gentler solution to all of this!

Hey My Poodle lovers!
Maggies mom, here in N.C where I live there is no leash law in the county. However I spoke with a friend of mine today at the gym who just happens to be a a Lt. for the Sheriffs department. He told me to file a nuisance order. Another man said that the boxer is trying to prove he's the Alpha male and it will only get worse. So the majority of people I spoke to told me to take the dog to the pound, collar on and all and tell them mine is the 3rd dog he attacked. They may put him down but the neighbor will be contacted and may be told this is his only warning to keep the dog locked up or on a runner.
I am glad to hear about all the poodles on this site. How cool to have the ones that are Service Dogs. That takes so much patience. And they are so gentle.
Seeing all these makes me want a poodle so bad now. I have only had poodles before. I LOVE my Malti-Poo. At least she's half poodle. I told my husband I want one but I wonder will it hurt Chloes feelings if I bring another one into the house. My heart aches for another one. You understand!
Thanks for all your post!
Hugs and puppy treats to all!

Boxers are scary when they are loose. One was running lose the other day when we were walking Maggie. I'd rather have a shepherd coming at us than a boxer. Phil and I stepped in front of her and made ourselves look big (picking little dogs up signals weakness to the other dog & may invite the attack more so we save that as last resort!).

Fortunately some neighborhood boys on bikes herded him up the other street before he could get to us. But I was concerned. Maggie hadn't even seen him yet but he was moving real fast in our direction.

If there are leash laws where you are I would report this dog to the authorities. Well, actually I would report him anyway b/c he is a menace to public safety. Start getting the reports and documentation in place in case, God forbid, you ever need it.

Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, would consider that boxer a 'red zone' dog, meaning it is only a matter of time until he does serious damage (or worse)to another pet or human. Each time the dog 'wins', he will get bolder and stronger. I would be very wary of him.

Hope your pup is ok. Sending out prayers and healing energy to you both.

Bright Blessings
Sue

Whoa! Just read about the boxer next door. How horrible! They are known for that sort of behavior. One time at the beach, a boxer came screaming out of nowhere (a 40 pound puppy), and jumped on top of my Mighty Joe (about 20 pounds) and slammed him into the sand.

I started screaming. We tried to grab Mighty away; he was overpowered. Then we saw a young blonde gal come running up the beach.

She got up to us and said "is SHE hurt?". That DID it...I yelled "it's a HE!", then did my best to keep my mouth shut. She grabbed her dog and said "he just ran away from me; he's young". And I said "you need to keep him leased", again keeping restraint!

On dog beach, they allow dogs to run free on wet sand...but hey, people, you still have to show responsibility! I HAVE seen a pit bull on a leash...only ONE, thankfully.

But yeah, getting back to my point...boxers, unfortunately, have that behavior. Can you have a friendly chat with the folks next door? I gather you don't have fenced in yards there...in Southern California, everyone is fenced in. That was weird to me when I moved here, but I got used to. Keeps the coyotes out.

Good luck with this situation!

Peace, Love, and everything Groovy!

Hey and Thanks. I love all the pics of your babies. Couldn't you just lay on the floor and let em all pile up in front of you!
Soon after I posted my neighbors called to my pup Chloe and she took off running toward their house. They have a 80lb Boxer. Now normally they are buddies but tonight they offered my Chloe a Chez Doodle and their Boxer sampson got real ticked. He jumped my Chloe and went straight for her throat. He grabbed her around the side of her neck she yelled and their children grabbed the boxer and the other kid got to my dog pretty fast but still he could have killed her. Scared me to Death!
That dog comes to my house all the time. They never tie him up! He jumped another mans pup a month ago. Usually he's friendly. However this worries me. If he is going for the throat he intends to kill. My husband is livid. He said the dog is going to magically disappear. The neighbor has said before they will not tie him up that is why they moved to the country.
The dog cannot be trusted and he jumpedmy other neighbors pitbull mix. The fight was not pretty. This was last week. The pitmix loves my chloe and was guarding her that day and thats why they fought that day. All in my yard. What to do!
That is my exciting news for the night. Hope you all have a good day tomorrow!

A big welcome to you and Chloe from me and my wonderful toy apricot/red poodle, Maggie. (I have to warn you though she writes with much verbosity!) LOL

Hi and welcome. so sorry to hear about your little one...she is sooo cute. Can see how you miss her, but they are always in our hearts.

And now you have a little bundle of joy.

My sparkpeople name is mitejoe, short for Mighty Joe, my wonderful 14 year old poodle. He's having some problems as of late, but we hang in there and love him. He even twitters, and has lots of doggie friends all over the U.S., including a girlfriend in Philly.

Hope to hear a lot from you by way of this team. Everyone really likes to talk here...very friendly!

So glad to know you and welcome. I have three affectionately dubbed here as the Texas Trio! We're a fun bunch. We lost a miniature 4 years ago and had to replace her with 2 (Snickers and Raider). She was wonderful and used to do everything with us so I understand grief after losing someone special. Our Bonnie was hit and killed by a car though and didn't die of old age. Then we got Buffy two years after we got Raider and Snickers. You can see them on my SP page. Hope to talk to you again soon.

Hello!
I currently have a Malti-Poo. Her name is Chloe. Igot her in October 3 months after my Toy Poodle "LadyCocoa" crossed the bridge. My heart was broken. She was just 8 days short of turning 14 years old. She was my world. I swore never again and couldn't stand not having a little one to love and take with me where ever I went.
I am Sooooo glad to find this site. I LOVE poodles. I have always owned them but my heart was way to broken to get another so soon so I came close. And as you can see little miss Chloe is indeed my heart. I was afraid I wasn't being loyal to her memory if I got another one but my mom said that she would hate for me to be so torn up and cry all the time. She would want me happy. So now there's Chloe.
You can see LadyCocoa on my Spark Page. She was a white toy poodle. I will post more later but for now it still breaks my heart to have them there.
I do use her name as my screen name. To honor her in some way.
Thanks a bunch!
Oh, Poodles Rule and other dogs drool!
