Hi everyone! I'm looking for ways to help me stay on track for the weekends. Weekends are the worst for me simply because I love to drink booze on the weekends. Its my stress reliever for the week. I let all of my calorie counting n workouts go out the window.

Hi All:

I'm so glad that I found this group!! I've been a Sparker on and off for years, but never used the community features. Two months ago, I recommitted to my health and really began using SparkPeople as it was intended. I have had some success and lost weight, but not as much as I could. I am great about my plan all week, then, on the weekend, I would visit family and be off. Not a complete departure, but enough to turn a possible 2 lb. weight loss into 1 lb or .5 lb. The good news is that I haven't allowed weekend's shortcomings to completely derail me. I do know that I cannot allow the habit to continue if I plan to meet my personal goal. So, here I am. My goal is to stay within my caloric goal every weekend. Long term, I would like to meet nutritional goals during the weekend, too.

"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals."

Henry David Thoreau

welcome! I had the same problem. what I do is I plan out my meals and I try to make sure to get enough protein and fiber I also try making half my plate veggies/ fruits. I still get tempted by my hubby with his pizza night and my daughter french frie fest lol. but I just try to make different plates that will make me prefer it over the fries. I also envision myself skinny and it helps remind me why I'm changing my lifestyle and turning it into healthy eating.
you came to the right place for help with healthy eating
good luck

Hello all! I am new to the site and this is my first weekend. Weekends have always been hard for me, my husband, son and I are all home and its hard for me to eat the proper portions when my husband is eating so much more. I'm trying to keep my motivation up and my portion size down!

Hello,
I was gone for awhile due to life being crazy (good, but overwhelming). I will reintroduce myself. I am a midwesterner who walks for fitness. Gone are the days when I alternated strength and aerobics everyother day....my goal is to get back to that routine. Shortly before the holidays, I was just below my goal weight. Next weigh in is this weekend (cross your fingers).

'Glad to be back.

Blessing for the New Year everyone!

Blessings...

Also have you tried honey instead of sugar that may be a good choice. i know i dont like it for coffee but i love it with tea hot or cold. even for cereals and foods.

Im so happy you've joined us! Good for you! Taking a step in the right direction! You may need more protein and or more fiber, try lean proteins like, grilled chicken, tuna,, turkey, nuts, eggs, skim milk, cheese, peanut butter, beans. Fiber things like whole wheat bread, brown rice, cereals oatmeal is great also thats my breakfeast every morning during the week days i eat oatmeal made with skim milk and fruits like blue berries or apples. Cream of wheat is also delicious. Be sure watever you do try is okay for your health and that it doesnt cause any alergic reactions.Theres also fiber supplements in powder form that you can mix into your cup of water. and theres protein shakes maybe you may want to try some protein packed shakes for snack or the protein bars or fiber bars. Also what may help if your hungry alot is eating 3 meals and 3 snacks in beween to keep you full. Just make sure to portion your food and make healthy food choices. Also try drinking a full glass of water before and after everymeal. ohh and last but not least veggies and fruits have lots of rich antioxidants, potassiun, fiber and vitamins you may want to make half your plate veggies or fruits. like breakfeast add some fruit, lunch add some veggies things like that. I hope this helps. Also remember that your mind is a powerful tool you have to be determined to take action to be able to actually do it. And i know you can do it! emoticon

I also have problems during the week for lunches and I do drink about 3 cups of coffee a day the rest is water I will try to remember to count it as a weekend goal and hopefully a daily goal. I'm trying to find healthy lunches that don't cost a lot and also have a filling me up effect soup does nothing for me or salads I can goto olive garden and eat 3 bowls of soups and 3 salads plus the bread sticks I used in the soups to sop up the broth I haven't eaten there in a few months my breakfast is another spot I'm having struggles with but now it's cooling down the oatmeal and cream of wheat will be great options I love them both but I also put butter in it too and eat it with my toast but the sugar is my bad things can't use substitutes I'm kind of allergic I get welps when drink or eat anything with the Splenda or stevia and the sweet n low so I'm not going to try anything but sugar from now on it made my stomach hurt on top of it all

I do the best I can from now on my life is mine I want to be a healthy nana I can only control that I'm back And I'm doing the done girl and I am going to be a turbo fire hottie with the blazing blue team i am a positive thoghtful person who cares about others And my family sherry wilson

Hi Kathy! Thanks for leading! It's funny how Sparkpeople is so active on the weekdays & then no one's usually around Friday night through Monday morning!
