Hi! My name is Tikisha. I am from a small town in SW Washington. I love WW and have done it before but don't have the books right now (stay at home mom with limited income) so right now I am just watching calories but I am hoping to get the new points plus books soon. I have a one year old daughter and am getting married in three weeks so I have a lot to be healthier for.

You only fail if you quit.

Hi, My name is Lynne and I have been doing WW on and off for about 5 years. Started with the original points program and am now doing Points Plus which is much easier because of the "free" fruit. I love fruit so being able to fill up on fruit when all my points are used up for the day is great. I am also doing the program from home which is tough because I have the support of my husband but he is skinny and doesn't need to be on the program. However he will eat the dinners I make that are low points. Also luckily we have a pantry for him to keep his fattening snacks so they are out of site out of mind.

Thanks for the message. So far had bacon medallion with egg, baked beans and wholemeal bread, all free on the plan

Made lentil soup for lunch and going to make a cottage pie with extra veg for dinner, skimmed milk for tea so good day planned

Hi SUE EADIE, I'm also doing the WW online, following the Simply Filling Plan in the US (South Carolina). I have been having success with it and finding easier than I thought I would. I hope you enjoy it too.

Am starting weight watchers online today. Am on UK plan but will be doing what we call filling and healthy plan. Probably equivalent to your simply filling plan. Have a long way to go though to get to goal. Looking forward to getting to know you all

Hello everyone!!

I have been sputtering on WW and on Sparks for a long time. I decided to integrate both accounts here. I find I do better tracking both sites. I can't afford WW meetings, so everything is online. That's okay though, it's all good.

Looking forward to meeting you all, and trying hard to making good habits and long term changes.

Hi, I'm Gwynn and I'm about to start WW!! I read one of their books (Coach Approach) from the library and also bought their cookbook from the library's book store. It's copyrighted in 2006 and coincides with the old points program which I have heard good things about. I tried a couple of the recipes and they turned out pretty good.

I'm married, in my mid-40's, and know without a doubt that my metabolism slowed down when I hit 40 and it seems like it just becomes slower and slower with each passing year. I do Pilates a few times a week at home but I know that a "few" won't cut it. I need to be determined and increase those workouts.

I'd love some SP buddies to go on this journey with me! I like sending mail and would love a motivational and supportive friend as I would be to them!

You can keep tabs on your points by having the Fats, Carbs, Protein and Fiber checked off on your nutrition tracker ! I do this & it really helps !! emoticon

Hi everyone!
My name is Angel. I am a 33 yr old married mother of three. I joined Weight Watchers in January 2013 and lost about 30 lbs but have gained about 10lbs back over the holidays (I know, how cliché!) I no longer attend meetings, but I have just broken out my handy PP calculator and booklet to get myself back on track. I look forward to all the discussions and challenges this team has to offer! Best of luck everyone! emoticon

I'm Amy and I am back again after a year of trying all kinds of things that didn't work. I joined WW last spring and lost about 5 pounds and got discouraged by July and quit. I need to finally do this right as my BP is high and I am starting to feel lousy as a result. My 50th birthday is Thursday and I want to feel and look better than I do now. I think I am now finally willing to make the changes I know I need to. I know this is where I belong.

I plan on going to a meeting this morning and then off to the gym.

Dear ADLINS, Did you join WW meeting, or did you join online? If you did either, you would get a WW food tracker or if you have online e-tools, you can track online. You can earn activity points that you can use also. You get 49 weekly points that you can use if you want during the week for those extra occasions that you might go to, such as eating out, birthdays, etc.

I have tracked with my WW trackers and SP Food Tracker both at the same time. Actually the calories and points on SP, come out almost the same for my 5'4'' frame, as the points on WW. You can track your activity on SP fitness and it conicides with your nutrition tracker and adjusts your calories for the activity.

Is that as clear as mud? ........ emoticon Wendy

Hi. I'm new to WW and the points. I got the very lowest number of points and blew through them healthily with very little food. Granted I knew it and today was my first day and I did start after I made meal choices.

However, I tracked here and on Fitbit and was within the calorie range. Not a little over, but within - though at the top end.

I've looked all over the WW site for where it determines your points and can only determine that it did based on my height and weight, not how much I exercise, etc. Is there somewhere where they explain how they do it or where you can set an activity level?

Any insight is appreciated.

Hello W8Wathers Friends,
I am re-introducing myself and retrying weight watchers. I have not been on this board for a while.I am a 57 year old high school teacher and I have a great DH, two super DS and two little grandaughters. I have just gone through two very stressful years helping older relatives and juggling too many hours of work with too many family issues. Now, I want to concentrate on me and turn around the gaining that seems to have gone along with the stress. Even though I do not generally do resolutions, this feels like the right new beginning for me and I hope to get to know team members and lose together. Enjoy the weekend!

Donna....from Wisconsin

New to this group but not to sp or ww. Restarted ww Saturday. Went off of it in September when we found out my husband has cancer. I started making cutbacks right away and paying for weight loss seemed like a good place to start. 1 surgery, a root canal, 3 wisdom teeth pulled, many many trips, and I'm up 5 pounds. I've kept to my deficit but the math just doesn't work for me. Ww does.
I'm 50. We have 6 kids, 9 grand kids, a dachshund, an outdoor cat and an indoor rabbit. Looking for an active group that helps and supports each other.

Just joined this team....lost 25lbs in 3 months on WW a few yrs ago and only gained back 5 of that. Been doing the SP tracking but, since Aug have only lost 5lbs. Counting calories, etc doesn't make my scale budge except for down 1lb, up 1lb, down 1lb, up 1lb. Very frustrating to say the least. In between the ups and downs, 5 lbs was lost somewhere in there. So, obviously I need to go back to what has worked for me in the past. Why it worked for me was because of the required points I needed to achieve per day for weightloss. My problem isn't over eating, mine is eating enough. That's why the point system worked for me. I had to force myself to eat to reach my points everyday. Okay, so, that's why I joined this team. :-)

Hi, my name is Kim. I have been on Spark for years!! Spark was actually recommended to me when I was doing WW online. Since then, I have lost the weight on my own and become a personal trainer and fitness instructor.

But the weight has come back with a vengeance! My workouts are not helping. My eating is all over the place. I have never done WW meetings before but I think I need that because I would not be honest with myself online. I need somebody to smack me in the face (LOL, I know leaders won't do that, but that's what I need). I found a meeting, signed up and paid today. I just happen to run across a story about Jessica Simpson of all people and that triggered something in me to try it. See, these celebrities actually do motivate others.

Hi! I'm Irena, I'm from Massachusetts and I am back on WW.
I've been on it before, and Angel you are right when we work it it works.
I am trying it online, without the meetings. I was never really comfortable at the meetings, I'm not sure if it was me or the leaders. I always felt super guilty when I did not have a good week.
I'm hoping that checking in on Spark will help keep me accountable. If it doesnt work, I'll try the meeting again.
I just turned 50 and am feeling like its now or never. I dont want to have surgury, so here I go again!

Welcome to the group Amy! I hear you, "been there, done that". I know if we track faithfully and keep our body moving we WILL get rid of the weight.

Hi there. I'm Amy and I'm 29. I've been on the weight roller coaster way too long, especially going up. It's time to come down and stay on a level plain. I've done weight watchers before and lost about 10 pounds. I want to try a little hard to be diligent with it because I have over 50 pounds to lose. My husband and I have no children yet and I want to lose weight before we get pregnant. I'm hoping that incentive will be what I need to get healthy. I need all of the support I can get! :o)

Oh goodness, where to start! I'm 59 and have just come off a "streak" of diets starting back in May. I was here on Spark for a while, stopped and then went to South Beach (never got so sick in my life) and finally ended up on WW. I attend meetings. I'm doing so much better now! I do PointsPlus. I've been on WW before and actually hit goal and then just got lazy. I'm not going to sit here and say "I don't know what happened"...I freaking DO know! And now I know I'm not in this to LOSE weight I'm getting rid of it...I don't ever expect to FIND it again....EVER. So, here I am, doing good, moving this body and planning on hiking with my grandkids this winter when I get back to Tucson. I have 3 sons, 3 beautiful daughter in laws and 12 grandchildren...got a lot to get healthy for! Thanks for having me!

I am a 35 yr old female & I have battled with my weight all my life (well, since puberty!) I am joining weight watchers on payday but am a little worried as I'm not good at keeping track of my calories. I'm hoping they will be easier. It kinda sucks that I don't have any meetings near by so my only option is online. I'm thinking the actual meetings would be better for me. Help me be accountable. I'm hoping by signing up here as well, I may get the add kick from all of you! My motivation is great!!! :D Just short! lol Spark People has been a great help with many things. Their knowledge on many aspects of health are amazingly indepth. I'm hoping to combine the 2 & kick some butt in this weight loss goal of mine!!! :D I'm also on kik messenger is anyone wants to chat. I'm not too hard to find! :)

Change is good MrsGoFarr!!!! I'm a whole lot older than you, but in about the same boat -- just joined WW two weeks ago after having messed around for awhile doing things that didn't get me anywhere except for in trouble! Been on spark for quite awhile too -- but I need the face-to-face accountability of a live and in person weigh in --- love spark for so many other things though and plan to stay right here while doing WW --- so thankful for having a team of WW friends and hope that all this rolled into one program will get me where I want to be!

Hello - I am 32 years old married with a 2 year old son. I have been on spark for a long time lost 50 pounds and gained it all back over the course of 2-3 years. Pregnancy didnt help. I am very happily married, successful in my career and generally just great. But weight and feeling insecure about how I look DOES bring me down. I want to change! Joining WW on 10-15-2013

I have been on spark for a couple of years now - counting calories and then tried an exchange system. I've done well, but lost my motivation somewhere. I haven't been active on spark for several months now as I decided a break might be a good thing for me.

Two weeks ago, I joined WW and I have found an awesome class! We meet on Saturday mornings and the time is perfect for my schedule --- so excited to find this class, the leader and the other members --- all good - very, very good!

I did WW a long time ago and it works! I know you know that ---- most programs do work if we just work the program! But this is my first experience with the points plus program. So far, so good -- it's not difficult for me to follow and I have no excuse for ever getting hungry with the free fruits/veggies. I've lost just over 8 pounds and I'm thrilled! I actually joined this team some time ago, but never got involved -- so I'm happy to see that this is still an active team and am looking forward to getting to know all of you and your ideas/tips for being OP with WW!

(oh and I'm in my late 50's -- kids are grown -- work part time -- want to lose about 60 pounds)

I'm a 32-year-old Canadian chick with a wonderful husband and toddler son. I'm about 50 lbs overweight and was successful losing my pregnancy weight on Weight Watchers last year, but stopped tracking and gained 20 lbs. yikes!
I love Spark People and still like to utilize this (love the message boards here!) but have rejoined WW and hoping to say bye-bye to at least 30 lbs.

Hello. Happy Sunday. I joined WW 3 years ago and did great the first 2 years, losing 100 pounds, The last year has been rough. I have gone through some major stressors and gained back 18 pounds. I never gave up the program though. I follow the plan and attend meetings but I haven't been able to lose. I will continue to go to my meeting every week but wanted to check out Spark again and see if I can get some extra motivation. emoticon

I am going at WW alone using the Original Points system that I had success with in 2008. I made Lifetime...but now have 30 pounds to lose. I hate to be back here again...but it worked before - I believe it will work again!

Hello,

I'm going to try weight watchers again. This will be my third time and I'm determined to have a plan of action this time. I plan to write down what products I eat in a book before hand so that when I'm ready to eat, all I have to do is look what I'm eating and jot down the points.

Just starting with weight watchers and sparkpeople not sure how well they work together but so far so good. My parents have been doing ww and have lost over 20 lbs a piece so my mom suggested my husband and I give it a try. I was gently told by my doc to lose weight( of course I already knew) At my heaviest now and ready to get healthy!!

I'm starting back on ww again. Just doing it at home this time..tracking on paper. My main goal is to STICK WITH IT. I get bored and quit but I don't make much progress that way. I have made progress recently and I don't want to back track. Gotta keep the scale going in the right direction. So, I'm pledging to stick with it. I also want to try at least one new healthy/lightened up recipe a week. I have a zillion recipes here that i've printed out and have a lot of cookbooks also...so I just need to do it. I know I could find a lot of great points friendly meals that way that could become regulars. To replace some of our current, not so light, regulars.

Hi, do not give up or give in. I have had a challenge with weight starting at age 12. On and off many programs at my goal for almost 9 years then life changes. We do not really see it come back on. We see a photo or something or look at size of our pants. For me 225 Lbs was the stopping point. At this time I am down 69 with another 33 to go . It has taken me longer than I wished to get this far. I know , I can do this and so can you. Keep you focus . The spark is there. Now set your fire. emoticon

Iron Girl, I lost weight on Atkins as well; but I knew it wasn't something I could live with the rest of my life. I've been doing WW online, too, for four months; and I can't say enough good about it. The food is so "normal." Just keep logging your food, and be sure to take advantage of the tracker for eating out. That has allowed me to check, on the tracker BEFORE I go out, and know what to order when I get there! No stress and no regret.

Good luck!

Hello!
I am new to the group. I am usual a low carb diet girl, but am SO SICK of the continuous yo yo cycle I have created for myself. Really needed a different direction, so here I am!! I have been doing WW online for 3 days, now, & I'm enjoying it. I've lost 2 pounds (water weight) already!! Hooray! Nice to be a part of your team.

Wow! So many new folks! Welcome All!!

Herman you are actually a guy, right? LOL! There are so few here I had to ask. Welcome, and I look forward to hearing the WW perspective from a man's point of view. emoticon

Spark2BFit2, girl we have all been discouraged; but you'll get a lot of good advice, here, about how to keep moving forward. Don't give up. emoticon

MarineMama, first of all, thank you for the sacrifice of your fine youngster. We greatly appreciate their service. Only 12 lbs to go. I've never been that close, but I understand those last few are the most difficult. There are some Lifetime WW members, here, who I'm sure can give you some great encouragement. emoticon

NachoQTPie, love your Spark handle! Hey, you want support, you got it here. Just jump onto some of the other threads and you'll be mobbed! emoticon

Stacie, my love and I are doing this together. I think it might have been me that said I do the work, all he does is consume. Right now the rascal is at goal, and I've still got a long ways to go. Still not sure he understands this is a lifetime thing, though. We'll see. Good luck to you both. emoticon

Linda/Lyn, I do too! I've gone to meetings, but I think it's the commitment to logging that helps me the most; and I can do that at home, in my Jammie's, on the iPad! emoticon

Lynda! Sixty-nine lbs! Wow, girl, you are good! I think you could probably teach me a lot even without big hair or weaves! Welcome! emoticon

Hi I am Lynda and at this time have lost 69lbs on weight watchers. I still have about 26 or more to go. It has been slow. I enjoy reading and learning about the program. It has been harder do to a leg problem. When women are in their 50s to nearly 60, it is a slow path. I have grown children and grandchildren. Just a Jersey girl without high hair or weave.

*waves* Hi all! I'm new both to Weight Watchers and SparkPeople. My hubby and I joined WW just last week. I had to laugh a bit at the post where someone mentioned they are doing all the shopping, planning, cooking, etc and their hubby is reaping the benefit--that's SO me and my husband! LOL So far I'm cooking/packing all his meals, updating his tracker (he hates anything with phones, computers, etc), and generally telling him what to eat and when. It's a bit exhausting!

I like what I know of WWs so far, but I felt like I needed a bit of an extra push to help keep me motivated, and I liked the idea of also counting my calories so I don't overeat on zero-point fruits and veggies and end up sitting at the same weight for months. I'm excited to be here and meet new weight-loss buddies!

Hello everyone. I'm BRAND NEW to anything Weight Watchers. A friend of mine told me about it, and pointed me in the right direction. I'm not actually PAYING for WW... I'm following a free program that's exactly like WW. The only bad thing is... there's really no support.. so.. I guess that's why I'm here! :-)

Hello. I just joined the group. I've been on WW since Feb and have managed to lose 60 lbs. I use WW and Crossfit as my means to getting where I want to be. I look forward to participating with the forum.

Sherry, welcome. My husband and I are doing WW together as well. Of course, I do all the meal planning and most of the cooking, and he reaps the benefits, but that's okay. Y'all will have fun. Soon he'll be saying, "how many points does this have?"!

Hi there, my name is Jayne. I live in Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. I returned to WW for, I think the 4th time emoticon back in February. I am enjoying the program, the weight is slowly coming off, hoping to step it up a bit during the summer.

Looking forward to making new friends.
Jayne

emoticon Lisa, you have made a great choice.... WW is a wonderful program of plain, sensible, healthy eating. And it is normal real food, not pre packaged. You will, as you said learn your portions, and the kind of foods that will help you get to that goal! emoticon

Hi. I'm Lisa. I just joined WW last Sunday (June 2/13).
This week I've made some small changes to my diet, and been tracking like never before. Because of my new responsibilities at work, I've been using the too busy/too tired excuse a lot. Well, I decided that rather than going out to dinner to celebrate my new position (I know, right!), I'd join WW.
We haven't made a lot of dietary changes yet, mostly because I wanted to see how we have been eating stacks up.
Well, the food we eat isn't too bad, it's the portion sizes! So I'm not going to hold my breathe for wi on Sunday, but next week better watch out, cause I'm gonna kick butt!

Goals:
5lbs - 2 lb hand weights - 2/23/10! (already got this, not getting again!)
10 lbs - new sports bras -3/23/10! (already got this, not getting again!)
15 lbs - $10 at fav used bookstore!
20 lbs - 3 lb hand weights

40 lbs - 5 lb hand weights

Welcome, Autumn! Take it from an old lady, it's never too late and it can be done! You'll meet some amazing people, here, who have reached a goal which, at one time, must have seemed impossible. You can do it.

One thing I would suggest is you change your goal to, say, 10% of your current weight instead of to your ultimate goal. If you do that it will give you something to shoot for that's much more easily achievable. Once you reach that, then reset your goal to another 10% and so forth. That's what I do, and as I approach each goal, I get a new burst of enthusiasm to stay in the race.

Good luck and God bless.

Hi,
My name is Autumn. This is probably my 15th time on WW. I am 21 and 289lbs. I want to be 130lbs. I married my high school sweet heart 3 years ago, and we have both gained about 100lbs. I am determined to do well this time!

Autumn Evans
1st goal: 230lbs (Weight when I got married)
2nd goal: 180 (Weight when I met my husband)
3rd goal: 149 (Under 150!)
Final Goal: 135 (Healthy BMI)

Total of 159lbs.... yikes!

Way to go!! And a good comparison, 3 5-lb bags of sugar!!

I carried a huge plastic container of kitty litter down the basement steps and I couldn't believe how it made my knees feel. I thought at that moment. That was just 1/3 of what I lost. No wonder I was headed for knee replacement!

Small goals, first 5% of your starting weight, then 10%, then 25# and on. Before you know it, you will get there. And really the slower it comes off the more permanent the chances of keeping it off, because you will be learning portion control, and eating healthier by the time you reach your goal!! emoticon

You're an inspiration to me! Go on all you want... LOL

I know what you mean about feeling better. Just having lost 16 lbs and I feel so much better. Finally, I don't have to wake up, completely, just to turn over in bed! It has occurred to me, it's like I'm not having to carry 3 5-lb bags of flour around all day! You know how tiring that would be.

Keep up the encouragement. We all need it.

Well we are all in the same boat, we wouldn't be here if we weren't. I know that I am weak, and I need the support and helps are available here plus the teams are great encouragers, but knowing isn't even enough. We need to commit, and it is a lifetime way of eating. But by the time we do reach our goals, we "know" what to do, but we need to continue to track.

It isn't hard, and it is a healthy way of eating. Mostly portion control. But the benefits are great! We are healthier, we can move and walk better. Our BP and cholesterol, usually drops. Those with high blood sugar, a lot of times can go off their meds and control it with diet. Our knees are better, and I could go on. But one of the most wonderful silly things I have found..... I can go from season to season and grab anything out of my closet and it fits!! emoticon

I am 71 and I feel better now than I did in my 50's.
I love SP and was able to lose 5 lbs more after joining....... Now I can weigh in each month without sweating! emoticon That is an incentive to me, weigh in once a month, and not have to pay..... emoticon

I am so sorry to go on and on......

I track on E-Tools and also here on SP. I also have the WW app on my Smart Phone where I can scan Bar Codes and it brings up the points per portion..... and then I can choose to have it post in my E-Tool Tracker.
The WW meetings here in Iowa are $13.00 a meeting or you can do it also with a monthly pass which is a little cheaper. We also live 25 minutes from town, but now that I am lifetime it doesn't cost anything as long as I stay within 2 lbs of goal.
But online is good, and I know that finances are tight...... lots of support and tools on each site!
