HI all! I am in my second week with WW and I am not doing so well. I just cannot get the eating under control. I feel like I am going it alone and could really use a buddy. Please PM me if you would like to buddy up. I would like to check in several times a week as I feel its the best way to stay motivated.

I'm back going to meetings again and this does help. I lost 5# in three weeks. Woo Hoo!
I do not want to emoticon spend much time on the internet though, so I do hope I will be more motivated by chatting about what helps me and you lose, plus better eating guidelines.
Thanks for the motivation. Irish Ei

Anyone looking for a buddy please email me here. I lost 50 pounds and it was better because i had a buddy. We did it together. I am on the old program before points plus and I am doing it from home so i would love to talk to anyone who needs help and encouragement. I love to cook and try new recipes and have a lot of the Hungry Girl books.

Isn't it funny how all of a sudden you can look down at your stomach and wonder to yourself, "Who put that there"?

I'm from Minn also.. I was 10 lbs from my goal weight, I had some health issues. So I gain some weight back, but still in the game to get to lifetime.. Through all this I never left WW.
I like counting pts instead of the simple start...
Have a good weekend, try to stay warm.

Hi 80Kelly,
I'm not sure if folks are responding to friend requests, but we're sort of having some discussions on the board. So maybe just check in here if no one friends you?
I hear you! I work full-time too and have part-time gigs. I can't imagine doing all you do and going to school and having kids! As wonderful as all that is, I'm sure it makes it hard to focus on you and even have time to think about what you're eating!!
Maybe that might be something to think about -- if it's an issue, maybe think how you'll carve out you time for thoughtful eating and weight loss :). That might be a good first assignment.
Hope that helps!
Kay

Mel,
I am so sorry! I lost my 'Net connection at home and also felt awful ... I'm thinking I have a gluten allergy. Last week and weekend, I felt terrible. ARGH. Not sick, but I just couldn't get motivated or seem to do anything. Body aches, headache, etc. I'm trying to cut out gluten just to experiment.
So sorry to disappear. How are you doing??

Hi all,
New to the site, and starting over. I have a long ways to go, but determined. I do not like going through the day exhausted, and NOTHING looks nice on me anymore.
I want to lose 80 lbs. I will be 50 in 2 years and I have a goal of running a half marathon again.
I am going to school part time, work full time and have 2 boys.
I need a buddy that will be supportive in a firm way, and not let me indulge or go on with excuses. I will do the same for you.
Wanna be my buddy?
Kelly

Morning Kay, Kristy and Peggy!

Peggy, join us! I'm heading over to add you as a SparkFriend!

Cold here this morning, I think it will be a bit longer before I head outside to walk this morning. I am still suffering a few after "pains" from my last C25K week. I just think at this point that I am going to hang it up until I get back to Tucson in December so I can get to the Running Store there and get shoes. I'm running on a pair of $20 shoes from Target and the pain from doing so is just getting worse not better! I'll go back to it then. It's not worth being in misery to the point where I can't even exercise because of the pain. Seems counterproductive to me!

I got out yesterday and walked 3 miles and was pretty active during the day so felt I at least "did" something! I have some yard work to get to today so I'll get some nice outdoor AP's!

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi Mel (great name!),
That's great about your tracking. It does make one feel more in control somehow. The decision-making is done by the time the day starts. I use a notebook, because I know I'd never log on and track, LOL. But that's good you're using the WW site.
Yes! It's awful if you under-eat, especially if you're exercising as hard as you are. I usually try to eat something before I go to the gym (after work); otherwise, I'll crash. Our bods need fuel. And it's hard for people to get the concept that the body will hang on to every stinkin' calorie if it's not fed enough. I used to see folks in the WW meetings still trying to starve themselves and puzzled about why they weren't losing weight. It seems counter-intuitive to keep oneself well-fed, but it sure works.
I know what you mean about the exercise points. In the old program (if I'm remembering correctly), we were required to use them, but it's nice now to have the choice. And I find that when I use the Plus points, it means I'm eating something baaaad :(. It just seems like a good excuse to overindulge.
I hate cooking, LOL. I'm kind of an assembler :). But I like your portion/freeze idea.
Yes, I love Skinnygirl. She fascinates me; she started her own site, then Weight Watchers to a certain extent affiliated with her. Very cool.
Wow, sorry again about the splints. Good running shoes are so expensive, but it's worth the cost, I'm sure. But, yike, they are pricey! But in the long run (no pun intended) what you gain in health benefits from running make the cost of the shoes worthwhile. Do you have a really good athletics store where a knowledgeable person can help you fit a pair? I obsessively read reviews on athletic shoes too online.
I actually have an old tape Gin Miller made for Reebok. I love it! She's upbeat and entertaining. I like collagevideo too and I rely a fair amount on Amazon reviews too if the DVD is sold there.
Hope you're having or had a good run!! I'm sure the endorphins will start soon. I guess you're still maybe dealing with fatigue and lactic acid (?). But I'm sure the runner's high will kick in!!

Kay,
Yup, filled out my complete tracker last night including food and dessert! I don't track here much because I'm doing Weight Watchers I use that site because it has all the Points Values (much easier). Every now and then if I'm eating a lot of 0 points (power foods) I'll track a day here to make sure I'm getting at least 1,200 calories. Because if not my body WILL shut down, that's one thing I did learn was the God's honest truth! I usually run between 1,100-1,300 a day. I don't use any of my 49 points plus points nor do I eat back my Activity points...just seems counterproductive to me. I can see where having the 49 extra would come in handy in an "emergency" or a very special occasion but normally I eat more than enough during the day to keep me full!

Another thing I like doing is when I make a new recipe I always measure out my portion and then measure individual portions and freeze. When DH has his pizza fit I can just pull out a good home cooked entrée' and heat and eat! I put what it is and the points value on the container so I know at a glance the points.

Your welcome on the recipe....another great website is www.skinnygirl.com She has awesome recipes and all of them have the Weight Watchers point values on them which makes life SO easy! Check it out if you haven't already, you'll be amazed at how much she has packed in there!

WTG on getting the tracker filled out already. I think you'll find it's much easier to put something back rather than go through the hassle of changing your tracker! LOL

Iced my legs for 2 days and am heading out to begin Week 2, Day 1 in a few minutes. I still need to get a good pair of running shoes but that will have to wait until after the first of the month!. They had to of been the most painful things I have ever had to deal with. I told DH it didn't hurt that much to have the boys (slight exaggeration there)! I don't know about the endorphins yet, I'm not that much "in love" with the exercise at this point but I'm sure with practice and better shoes it will be fine. I hated step aerobics too and absolutely LOVE it now. I know it's not "hip" or "in" any more but if you want a good sweat that'll do the job! My favorite instructor is Gin Miller, my favorite DVD is "Simply Step". You can see a preview at www.collagevideo.com That's a great site if your looking for an exercise DVD, you can get a brief view of it before you buy. Believe me, there have been many I wanted to buy but after seeing the preview I was SO glad I didn't!

Ok, I'm off to run....see you later! Have a great day!

Melana (Mel)

Vigil,
You are a doll, thank you for the recipe!! That looks yummy and very nice at only three points!
Woo hoo!
Okay -- I always wondered about the exercise-weight gain connection. That's amazing. So if you initially gain, you know it's working, LOL. I love strength training. Do you use machines or free weights? I'm using cable machines, but trying to stand while doing them, so at least I'm having to stabilize myself.
How are your shin splints now? I've heard those are super painful! Hope they're better. Good for you for running. I've heard the endorphins are great, plus it's such good exercise.
Did you do your pre-count for meals last night? I did, thank you. I feel a little more in control today. Plus, I have a sugar hangover, LOL. For a while, at least, I'll remember how awful that feels.
Thanks again for the recipe!

Kay,
Sometimes when you have increased the amount of exercise you do or you start strength training or running you actually put tiny tears into your muscle fiber. When you do that your body sends extra fluid to those areas to help with healing. The "gain" is due to that water/fluid your body is holding. I have a friend that is a certified personal trainer and when I started strength training I had almost a 2 pound gain in the first week! I kind wigged out about that. But once those muscles "healed" those 2 pounds just dropped off pretty quick. So, with starting to run (and having horrible shin splints) I had expected a gain. I went down - .2 so that was unexpected and welcomed!

Chocolate freak huh? I got you covered on that one for only 3 points!

1 Popsicle brand No Sugar Added Fudgesicle = 2 points
2 TBS of PB2 = 1 point
1 TBS Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup (I use Walmart brand) = 0 points

Mix up the PB2, slightly defrost the 1 fudgesicle in the microwave (I use 7 seconds). Then mix the fudgesicle in with the PB2 till creamy, add the chocolate syrup. It takes exactly like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup and it is SO good! If you have 1 extra point you can put a TBS of FF Cool Whip on it for 1 more point! It really tames that chocolate monster!

Yep, I'm here! I wasn't sure about a new thread either ... we'll figure it out.
In the meantime, good for you! Now, why did you think running would cause a weight gain? I know sometimes if I weigh after exercise, I do seem to weigh more. But good for you for the loss!! Woo hoo!
It's nice here (Virginia), but it's supposed to rain this weekend (of course, LOL).
I've not been good with tracking, but you're inspiring me. For some reason, I have terrible chocolate/sugar cravings, ack. The shorter days seem to fuel (no pun intended) my need for bad carbs :(. So I'm going to restart tomorrow and hope this time I can stick to it. I just ate so much chocolate today, I figured my tracker would explode, LOL :(.
That's a great idea about planning your meals! Thank you. And it'd be easy for me because my diet's kind of the same thing rotating around. I'll try that! Heck, I'll start tonight, come to think of it and plan out my day.
Thanks so much and congrats for the running and the weight loss.

Kay,
I didn't see a new thread so thought I'd stop by this old one and see if you were still around. You can set your notices so if someone leaves a comment on your SparkPage that you'll get an email telling you that. I'm not sure if the Team Leaders will want us to have a thread here on the Team board. Maybe one of the leaders will chime in here.

Hope your week started out well, it's raining cats and dogs here but we really needed it. The down side is it's really bringing the leaves down! I went to my meeting this week expecting a gain since I started running...and I actually lost weight so was good with that!

How are you doing with your tracking? I know you said you were having trouble keeping up with it. One thing I do is I plan my entire day of meals the night before and will track EVERYTHING before I go to bed. That works 2 ways, 1 I don't forget anything and 2. If I eat something that's on my tracker I have to change it. I don't like to change it so I usually will put back whatever I have in my hand at that moment!

Hi Kim,
If you post on this board, I'll try to respond. Maybe we can have a buddy group or something! Vigilante and I just buddied up, but I'll be glad to help you if I can.
I like Points Plus, although I've been terrible recently about tracking. It's more protein driven, so things like popcorn, which were low points on the Points system, are higher. However, you don't have to track fruit, which is wonderful! I think you'll like it. Up until the last month, I was doing it at home too like you are and doing well with it. Might be the change in weather is driving my current eating craze, LOL.

Yes, please motivate me too, LOL! I'm 53 with pets for kids :).
That is so cool about you and your son running a 5K!!
Right now, I have some joint issues, so I can't exercise hard, but I can do the recumbent bike, treadmill, and weights, just no running or aerobics. I was doing really well on Spark, then kind of lost my motivation and started totally relaxing my eating. Luckily, I didn't gain much, but sure didn't lose anything. I just started eating somewhat "paleo" (or Weight Watchers power foods) to help myself avoid excessive sugar.
Congrats on your 12 grandchildren - that's awesome!

I'm starting on payday here shortly (online). I wish they had meetings close to me so I could go. I think I would do better with that. Closest meeting is an 1.5hr away & in the evenings. And I work evenings.... lol Looking for a buddy too to try & keep me motivated. I always start off great.... then one day realized I had quit & don't know when I did! I'm on kik messenger if anyone would like to chat. I'm sure hoping this time is different! I need to keep moving forward! :D & I will!

Wow, you have a lot going on!! Maybe we can motivate each other.
That's funny about the extra points, LOL. I need to try that, haha, but I'm past all that.
I'm losing motivation and it might be the coming winter (darkness?) or I don't know what it is. All I want to do is eat! :(

Looking for a buddy too! I just started Weight Watchers Online today. I have been having trouble staying motivated to lose weight since the birth of my youngest baby in April. I am 38, mom of 5. I am currently nursing my almost 6 month old, the extra points are awesome..lol. I am trying to do 30 minutes of exercise 5x a week. Hoping actually paying for a program will help!

Hello,

I am not a weight watchers member, but am considering it. I had gone from 211 to 170 stayed there for a while, but with stress and health problems over the last couple of years my weight is back up to 204!
I just turned 52 cannot do a lot physically due to back and knee problems have a stressful career, but know that carrying extra weight isn't helping anything.
Looking for an accountability partner, preferably someone in a similar situation, age and weight to lose. Wishing you all success!

Hi! I had lost a lot of weight with weightwatchers in the past, but unfortunately have let it slip back on after I had reached my goal weight, which is of course embarassing.

However, I am more determined now than ever and would love someone that we could hold each other accountable!

Hi everyone,

I'm in my mid-30's and about 6 weeks into Weight Watchers, doing it online with no meetings so I'd like a buddy to commiserate with. I'm down to my last 10 lb to lose (total 25-30 lb) so if any of you are in the same boat and need that extra push then let me know!

Hi
It is some time since I was on here, I am not going to WW at present but I am trying really hard to lose weight and not getting anywhere(12st 3lbs the same since Christmas) I would like to go back to WW but need to know that I can lose weight regularly.
The main reason that I am not losing weight is stress as being a carer is not easy, I would love a buddy.

Just joined WW yesterday, only for 10 weeks though. I will NOT stop using the program after the 10 weeks, it's just that this is a special "Weight Watchers at Work" class, and it only goes for the 10 weeks. I am hoping it's the kick in the pants that I need to keep going after the 10 weeks are up. I want the material, the foundation, and a couple of buddies to keep me going.

I have a total of about 80 lbs to lose, so if you are interested, send me a Spark Mail.

hello

I have just joined SP and am looking for a buddie(s) . I love and follow the WW program. I joined WW for 20 weeks in December. Sadly, I only have 2 more weeks to go and have lost nothing. I am disgusted with myself. I have lost and gained the same 3 to 5 pounds over the last 18 weeks. I need to lose at least 50 pounds. Losing 35 lbs will put me under 200.
Feel free to drop by my spark page and maybe we can encourage and root for each other.

Mallory

Hi Ms. Mammachick1,

I would like a buddy as well and would love to buddy up with you. Ironically, I am also 5'3 and started Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago this coming Saturday. When I started it I was at 173. I am also looking to get down to 140. I want to by the end of June because it is my 20 year high school reunion. I am so excited about everything I have already found out about myself and food in general. I look forward to partnering with to make this thing happen for the both of us.

Talk with you soon,
Roxanne

I would really like a buddy.
I am looking to loose 35 lbs by Sept 2013. I am a busy married mom and have let that be an excuse to gain more weight every year for 8 years. I am active and love to play outside, camp, and am just getting back into canoe and Kayak activities. I am 5'3 and almost 180 and need to get fit to keep up with my kids.
I am ready this time to make it happen and need a buddy who is super positive and motivational and I will be the same for her!

I could use a WW buddy for sure! I need all the help I can get trying to lose this 50 pounds. I am 55 years old, kids grown and have just recently joined my local WW for a 20 week run. I will weigh in on Thursdays. I also got a gym membership for Christmas ... so I have everything I need for success. But I really need support from others who are going through exactly what I am going through.
Hope to hear from you

Bella

Hi Casie- we have almost the same weight loss goals! I am at 164 and my goal is 130. I have used ww successfully in the past- so here I am again! I am having problems with my BP and I know losing weight can only help with that. I too got a WW app for my phone- (Droid) I can't see paying all that money when I am not going to meetings (they are all about 1/2 hr away) and everything we need is right on our phone or computer. I am 47 and the older I get the harder it's going to be to get this weight off- so its time to do it now! I am looking forward to making friends on here to go on this journey with.

Looking for a battle buddy so to speak. I did the WW thing back in 2008-2009 and became a lifetime member in 2009. Since then I have had two beautiful DD (2 y/o and 4 months). I have a long way to go but I know how much support can help. I'm doing it on my own this time with the help of the Points Plus Diary iPhone App (check it out!! Worth every bit of the $1.99). I look forward to meeting everyone. :-)

Hi DocPeggy - I would love to be your buddy! I am pretty new to WW but I'm trying to get going with it. I love the idea of mini-goals/challenges. I'm 40 and a mother of 2. I have about 20 lbs to lose. I live in Maryland. Happy to email/IM/whatever to keep on track. Happy to have another buddy too if someone else is looking!

I am about half way to my goal weight. I lost some of the weight in a very public forum - my family was featured in the Family Circle Healthy Happier Family challenge. This has just ended, and I am going to start using Weight Watchers (at home) to try and lose the remaining weight. It seems to be working for my aunt.

I am 46. I have four children; three of whom are in college. I am married to my high school sweetheart. Life really is pretty good, but I am a bit of a couch potato.

I need motivation. I prefer a buddy who is in the midst of trying to lose, so we can lose together.

I am interested in finding someone who may want to do mini challenges. I find goals help.

What information would I want to share with a potential new WW buddy?

First lets start with the basics. I am a married mom. I will be turning 27 in October. I have been married since early 2010 and got pregnant practically before the honeymoon was over. We have a beautiful baby girl (not much of a baby any more though 14 months) and he has a 6 year old daughter from a previous relationship. I am on disability due to PTSD and Bipolar disorder. I have suffered from weight problems for as long as I can remember. Both of my parents were extremely obese since I was born.

I have had little success in the last 3 weeks with the old WW point system. I have lost about 11 pounds so far. This was my first week where I didn't lose at least a pound. I am still excited to see the weight just melt off.

Lyndsay

Weight Watchers System 43 daily points (July 19th)
Starting weight 347.2
First Goal (5%) 329.8 (17.4 lbs lost)(Reward trip to J-Ville)
Second Goal (10%) 312.5 (34.7 lbs lost) (Reward new shoes)
Third Goal (13.6%) 299.9 (47.3 lbs lost) (Reward new pair of pants)

Nothing in life matters unless you are willing to fight for it.

Hi everybody - I would love some buddies too! I'm a 33 year old mom of two young girls and I work full time. We eat pretty healthily, but my three biggest challenges seem to be: fitting exercise in to my daily routine, kicking my popcorn and wine when the kids are in bed habit, and staying on track when I travel for work (which is somewhat frequent). Would love any thoughts, ideas, and/or support!

Good morning everyone!

I would love some WW spark buddies. I've started my journey to a healthier me for the last time. I am a WW meeting member since December and going strong! I would like to share and motivate everyone. I am married, 47 years old, wife, mom and a new grandmother. I live in northern California and also enjoy daily exercise.

I started run/walking the day after my last birthday and I'm now hooked. I've run 4 5K's so far and more planned.

Thanks
Debi

I could definitely use a WW buddy! Most of the people around me need to lose weight but none of them are motivated to do anything about it so I am flying solo on my weight loss journey.

Ohh! I am always looking for new buddies!! I don't get much support/understanding here at home mostly because my fiancé & daughter in no way shape or form have to watch what they eat. Lucky bums got serious metabolism. I feel lost most of the time trying to explain to them why I don't eat this or why I don't want to eat that. It gets tiring. Any & all friends are welcome!! I am not easily offended, I have a mind that is in the gutter 99.99% of the time even though I really try hard not to... I have a 14 yr old, I have a generally good outlook on my life, although we all have our moments.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I've babbled enough...Let the friendships begin!

I need a buddy. I am a chronic rejoiner of WW. Im in my mid 40"s, I love WW but never really had a buddy to help. Married, kids, lots of animals, superbusy with 3 part time jobs bc this econcomy is soooo bad. If there is someone out there who has a great sense of humor and not easily offended please email me and we will get to it..

I guess having a virtual buddy would work out great for me.
My real life friends are supportive, but THIN and they want me to go walking with them, its more of a social gathering for them.
They walk and laugh and joke and discuss issues....and I want to just walk, WALK, but, I am alot slower than them after knee surgery 2 years ago, I find my knee just doesnt let me push on faster and harder.
I feel I slow them down, so I always say maybe I will walk with you, tomorrow.
And I have a few times just to be social, and not make them think I dont enjoy their company.
But when I walk, I want to really just focus on me and my issues and its kind of a time of reflection and meditation for me.
I want a buddy who isnt a sugar coater, I want someone who will look at my whiney blogs and say, " GET OFF YOUR PITY POT NANCY"!!!
HAHA....
We all need words of encouragment and kindness and understanding, but sometimes we need someone to just say, "I have heard that excuse before, now what is really going on"

Looking for a weight loss buddy who will check in with me often to keep me motivated. It's hard going it alone. If you like to chat/e-mail I would be happy to share my address or we can do it on this site. I'm willing to be your butt kicker too! Hope to hear from you. Eileen

It went on slowly and will come off slowly.

I, too, am looking for a "buddy" - but I want someone who is more a "butt kicker" than a true "buddy" lol! I want someone who will care enough to ask for my e-mail address, send me notes if I haven't checked in chiding, cajoling, threatening, I don't care what it takes, before saying "come on, it can't be that bad. . . tell me about it"

And know, I will be that type of buddy for you too! So if you're willing, I'm ready. . .

I would love a buddy =]
I am on week 7 of WW. So far, it has been wonderful. I have lost 17 pounds!
Turning 23 years old in less than 2 weeks. I work out 3 times a week, working on completing couch to 5 k.

I am guilty of not eating all my points (average of about 22...) at first, believing that the less I eat, the more I will lose (since this is what had worked in the past). However, I started tracking on spark and realized that I wasn't getting all the nutrients I needed. I am slowly increasing my calories (scared that if I do it to quickly I will gain and not lose at my next weigh in).

I amm here for the long run, here for the lifestyle change. I am not dieting but being healthy.

I would love a buddy to support along the way, motivate and share WW tips with. Compare weigh ins and experiences... what works and what doens't.

Happy Sparking everyone. I love this site.
You can do it. Never give up.

My name is Stacy and I am new to the whole weight watchers process. My mother in law had great success with it and she gave me her books from the early 2000's. I have my points figured out but I would love any tips, tricks, or advice for sticking with it and how exercise fits into it. Thanks in advance for any help!
