I'm so glad that works for you, Linda!! Unfortunately I have tried for years without success. for me i just have to stay away from the food that i crave so. Buttercream is one of them. i could sit with a bowl and spoon and gorge myself sick on it. so, i just dont eat it. I make it every day at the bakery, and get great satisfaction from the smell of it. i just dont so much as taste it. Chocolate chip cookies are another..i dont even much like chocolate, but a warm cookie is like heaven to me. so, i dont eat them!! again, the smell is enough. if i taste i cant stop. I make every excuse in my mind (oh, its just once, etc) I finally, finally found a doctor and a plan that made senxse. the man is a renowned expert in the weight loss field, and if i follow what he says i lose. He does allow for cravings, but also realizes some foods are triggers and tells us to stay away.

Actually... moderation can be learnt. But what needs to first be realized, is that it is all a mind thing... a mind thing about finding the power inside you to say no. It is a mind thing, in asking yourself, before going overboard, do I want this because I am physically hungry, or do I want this simply to satisfy an inner hunger for its taste and the satisfaction it temporarily gives me. If we ask ourselves that, we can often find the power inside us to not overeat any item.

I know, because I myself battled such an over eating addiction. With me, it was not sweet items. With me, it was salty and fried items. These days, I allow myself the occasional salty fried item, but I put a strict limit on it. I put 1 portion of the desired item on my plate. I walk away from where the rest is, or put it away. Then I sit down and eat. Once I have eaten, that is it. I do not go for seconds. The first time you do that, it is hard. But, if you keep doing that, each day, as the days go by... it gets easier and easier. It becomes a good habit.

A positive attitude also helps. If you say, I can overcome this, you more likely will be able to.
Keep positive my fellow Spark Person. You can do it!

as a professional baker i have to tell you i cant agree. i cant have one bite of hot bread dripping with butter...i have to have 3 slices. cinnamon buns are the same. and cookies? cake i'm ok with i make them so much they dont much tempt me anymore.
so. i enjoy the process...bask in the heavenly aromas, and STAY AWAY as i know myself.

i watched a show last night about a woman who was 600 pounds and what she went through....and it really hit home. i need to lose 100. i will do it. i was doing it and got stalled. but i'm back on track.

my tip..sugarfree gum. pop it in your mouth when you are mixing (if you are like me and sample dough) and when frosting, removing things from the oven, etc. you dont mindlessly put things in your mouth if you do that.

Hun... We will help you. We will help you to remember... that all things are good, as long as they are eaten in moderation. Now... I realize that that is a hard thing to learn... moderation... but it can be done. After a while, I learnt how to use moderation in all things food, and it is working. Remember... a diet should never be a punishment. A diet is a commitment to following a better lifestyle, to become healthier.

Hi there,
Do I love to bake? That is almost as silly as asking me if I remembered to breath today. Yes I love to bake. There is something about haveing my hands in bread dough that makes me feel what would you say.... relaxed. I love the feel of it. Rolling out cinnamon rolls, loave bread, cinnamon twist, buns, just gives you a good feeling. Then to see it come out of the oven and your kids are like oh look, mom has made bread." Can we have some, please, please???? It is worth it. This doesn't even mention the cookies, the bars, and the cake, we could talk about. So you see why I need to loose 25 - 30 lbs. There's a reason. But yall are gonna help me. Yall are gonna encourage me to keep baking for my family, my dear husband, and 4 children; ages 8,6,4, and 7 months, but you are gonna get real hard on this girl to just eat a apple. ...and I'll take water please. Huh!!! did I jus say that? Can't wait to hear from ya.
