Personally I've never found a cottage cheese I liked but pickles - oh man! When I get a hankering for them, I make my own. Really helps in lowing the salt!

It takes a bit to get used to but once you've gone low sodium for a couple of weeks, you won't miss it! In fact everything package will be too salty for you.

It kind of is good to go cold turkey in the salt department. Don't buy deli meat. My doctor put me on 300 mg/day. I don't think I have made it that low. Anyway, you might like to switch to yogurt instead of cottage cheese. Greek is great. Experiment with spices. I have found a new love for curry. I probably eat more sweets now. Nutella is salt free.
Hope that helps.

Hi there emoticon I don't use salt to season tomatoes, watermelon etc.. I just eat them plain. Thanks for letting us know about the "no salt" seasoning too.

Wishing you all the best!emoticon

I have found it is best to stay away from fast food and processed food.
Read the labels on everything. You will be surprised on all packaged food the exorbitant amounts of salt. I have found that just like sugar. a small amount demands more. So if I can stay away for use for 4 days to a week, then I find I do not miss it anymore.
May God Bless you in your positive efforts.emoticonemoticon

I just started watching my sodium ! Bought a seasoning at a health food store that is called no salt ! It has all kinds of spices pepper garlic ect and i bought a new salt shaker just for that ! I miss putting the salt on foods but can live with it but i love cottage cheese and eat 1/2 cup for dinner EVERY NIGHT ! I did put my seasoning on it instead of salt . I know it is high in salt but won't give it up because most of my salt intake comes from the salt shaker . Also when i am really hungry maybe 1 or 2 times aday i get a hamburger dill slice the small ones put it on my tongue and suck on it till i have to chew it . This really helps me ! Sounds dumb but whatever works right ! I never eat over 2 and usually 1 aday . I eat toastada's about 6-12 aday but they are alot lower in sodium than the chips . God any suggestions how i can cut more sodium out ? I love tomatoes and watermellon in the summer got any suggestions how to season them ?emoticonemoticon
