howdy guys, yeppers nice to find an active mens group on the Sparkpeople website.

I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me! With his help I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, that while I run the race of life I run in such a way to win the Imperishable Prize.

Thanks SlapTFC...I've managed to walk 1.5 miles every morning for 6 straight days now. For me, that's a bit of a groove that I never expected. I'm even enjoying it a bit, and planning to add about 1/4 mi after a full week. My biggest enemy is boredom, I'm trying to stave that off by going out early in the AM, a time of day that I enjoy, where there are few others in the park.

[singing] Oh don't you remember sweet Betsy from Pike / Crossed the high mountains with her lover Ike / Two yoke of oxen and big yellow dog / Called Shanghai rooster and one spotted hog / Hoodle-dang-hootie-i-doh, hoodle-dang-hootie-ay, hoodle-dang-hootie-i-doh, hoodle-dang-hootie-ay / Shanghai ran off and the cattle all died / last piece of bacon that morning was fried...

This is a great group. I hope you find a real exercise groove.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!" -Rocky Balboa (2006)

My name's Rod and I found this from the Men over 50 club which I joined yesterday or the day before. I'm trying to stay focused on a new healthier lifestyle...I've been at it (this time) since the 1st of April and am already seeing some progress with my BG by eating healthier. I've also been walking the dog for 30 minutes (1.5 mi) everyday. I plan to add activities as I feel capable so I don't burn myself out by trying to do everything at once. I'm looking forward to being a part of the group.
