Never underestimate the power of the basics. If you are committed to your plan, you can do it with the tools you have available.

Good luck and welcome to the Spark Men team.

Bravo! It's a stretch for me to afford these things, or, as I'm currently viewing it, an investment.I used to do it "the old fashioned way" by running, until that was no longer possible, so I kind of gave up,or rather put in minimal effort. A friend of mine is fond of saying, "If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got." I want something different (and my MD wants it for me- he, by the way, was the person who directed me to SP in the first place). Good luck.

Thank you. I wish i could afford a trainer, it would make losing weight a lot more easier, although i know they will put me through pain and torture to lose the weight. Unfortunately at the moment i cant afford a membership and trainer, so my weight loss will be done the old fashion way. Good eating, push ups, pull ups a jump rope, dumbbell and barbell exercises, and any other exercises that can be done at home.

Welcome aboard. I joined SP 7/7/11 and am liking it a lot. I'm confident that I can achieve the goals I set for myself. Today I signed on with a trainer at the local gym I use. He said I can reach my weight loss goals by the end of December if I'm committed, which I am. Then the "torture" began. At one point I almost fainted. I think he was illustrating how out of shape I am (and how much I require his services). Nevertheless, I bought it. It's summer. The gym is cool. Stop whining, I tell myself. Onward!

I signed up with spark people a little less than a month ago, but had trouble relating to the thousands of spark people women which caused me to be disinterested. Today my wife found the spark men team. I am excited to find a team of men who can encourage and motivate me to accomplish my fitness goals. I am a 28 year old husband and father weighing 230 pounds, with goals of losing 30 pounds and morphing fat into muscle
