Hey Mark, welcome to Spark People. I hope you find Spark people and Spark Men to be helpful. I joined Spark awhile ago and found that tracking my progress and activity, as well as looking through the message boards, trivia, articles and more kept health and fitness in mind. My problem arose when work got busy and I lost my focus. I am back now and using the Spark to keep me focussed. Also, having a few friends on here to keep you accountable helps as well.

I find that checking in on sparks and talking with others helps to keep my goals in the forefront. You should really track your food and exercise with spark also. It really helps you stay focused and see where you are at healthwise. I have been off and on with that. i find it helps when I do do it. There are plenty of other things that sparks can help with also. Places to set up goals and such.

The SparkPeople Tracker is actually pretty good, but you are correct, often times there are things that are not listed. Try entering your food item and clicking the "search foods entered by other members" option. I usually have good luck with that. If all else fails you can enter the information yourself. This is a bit of a pain the first time you have to do it, but if you save the food to your favorites you won't have to do it again.

I appreciate that. Have you been able to loose weight in the past and how did you do it? Also, do you use the food tracker? I have explored several on the web and it seems that with all of them I am still guessing at the calories of things since what I am eating is not in the tracker data base.
Hi, Mark. I'm Stan and I am about 255 wanting to get to 200. Our goals are similar. Motivation is a tough problem to overcome. Spark people helped me the most when the Spark Men team was only about 15 guys. It is hard now that the team is so big. I lost motivation and gained about 30 pounds back. I just decided I was going to try again. I'll do what I can to encourage you.
