Classic metal: I could work out to "Metal Health (Bang your Head)" by Quiet Riot all day. I like almost all classic metal, but bands like Ozzy, Dio, ACDC, and Judas Priest stand out. ... Unless Iron Maiden counts as classic metal... I don't know where to put them, but they are definitely a favorite. Top 5 probably.
Heavy Metal(all types): I am a big Megadeth fan, I like Metallica too, but their music isn't as creative to me and the band pretty much died with Cliff Burton imo. Other big ones are: Death, Dream Theater (maybe not heavy metal, they have some really mellow stuff, like "another day" but I don't want to make a progressive metal section just for them), Becoming the Archetype, Thy Will Be Done, and In the Midst of Lions.
Punk: I like MXPX. I like bits of other bands, but I'm just not a big punk guy. I don't dislike it, I just haven't listened to a lot because mainstream turned me off early on.
Indie: Well... I don't listen much to indie, but I really, really, like a local indie group called "The Clutter." I don't have much exposure to indie, which is probably why I'm not a big fan. If I checked out some more good indie, I'm sure I'd find some I liked.
Emo: I don't listen to it. It's not the music that's the problem, it's just the whole emo mentality I want nothing to do with. No offense or anything to anyone who's into that stuff, but I'm a pretty happy dude. Maybe I just don't relate. But in the meantime, I'm not going to foul up my good mood by listening to emo.
Straight Up Rock: I like Decypher Down and Shade... This is honestly probably my favorite genre atm. I wish I listened to more of it.
Outside of the "punk rock slashers and burners" relm, I like a lot of other stuff. I like classical, neo-classical, Transiberian Orchestra (christmas music), Johnny Cash (country... I've heard him called rockabilly too though), worship music, Lecrae (rap... I'm usually not big on rap, but there are exceptions.)I also like blues, but most of the blues I know has been just me playing the blues scale on piano or guitar. My father is also a big fan folk music, and my mother is a big fan of bluegrass and southern gospel. I'm more into the folk than the bluegrass, but I don't really connect with either. I can enjoy some of it, but never thoroughly enjoy it.
I honestly haven't listened to Blondie, so I'm not sure if I've got a weakness there.
And np about the reply. I know how it irked me when I joined several groups and only got a reply in one. I decided that everyone new should get recognition, and since I was in the position to give it... I did. :) Have a great day.
hello faithkeeper! its good to meet you too and thanks for the reply! umm...well i grew up with punk and metal kids, but my family is really into bluegrass and folk music, so it's kind of a weird mix of those. im a big fan of the goons, ac/dc, subhumans, maiden, cock sparrer, the exploited, global threat, uk subs, metallica, and bands like that though. i'm married to an englishman too so i've been introduced to jamie t and ocean colour scene which i love as well... ive also got a serious weakness for blondie, but honestly, i cant think of many people who don't... what about you?
