Hi,

I wasn't sure if I should do this here or start a new thread so I guess I'll do it here.

I'm not new to SP but just got into this group. I suffer from seasonal allergies as well as have some meds and food allergies. Oh, also allergic to cats and pet dander. Really bad with the cats!

I pretty much take Zyrtec year round but occasionally have to switch to Allegra in the winter.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone,
T

Hi everyone! I've been on SP for almost 3 months now, but I haven't been really doing everything I should be. So I restarted the process and SP automatically added me to this team. I live in south TX, where allergies are a part of life, but mine have been getting increasingly worse over the last few months. I have an appointment to get some testing done, so hopefully that will help. For now, Zyrtec is my best buddy. emoticon

i have been a memeber in Sparks for 2 years this month and a long time member of this team. I changed my program to the weight loss preogram and all of a sudden i am a new member on some teams that I have been on for a long time. As long as I am here, now that the dry windy weather has gone, my allergies have let up a lot. Georgine

Welcome. We went to the eye doctors the other day. She told us that this is the hardest time for many allergy sufferers. The spring pollen drop makes many miserable. She claimed that the worst will be over in 2-3 weeks.

Hi my name is Charissa, I have indoor and outdoor allergies to about 20 allergens(including food). I did not had an allergy test about 2 years ago. The results required me to change my lifestyle according to the allergies I had. I have made some progress and have been removed of a few medications when I was first diagnosed. Good Luck to all.

When I moved to NC I had no allergies. Now I have Tons!
As for the milk...Try rice milk or better yet try coconut milk from a health food store like Trader Joe's or Earth Fare. A lot of times people who have trouble with milk can do OK with cooked milk or cheeses. Experiment.

Hi, I'm new to the forum & to Spark People too!

I've never been officially tested for any allergies, but I know I've got 'em! lol Mostly seasonal allergies, pollen, dust/mites, and dander (I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to my 2 cats, but not enough to make me give them up!).

I never had any trouble with allergies growing up, but when I moved from SC to PA, all of a sudden, they showed up. I've since moved back down to SC, but the allergies followed me... ;)

I've developed what I think may be a food allergy or intolerance in the past year - milk! :(

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you & see how you cope with the daily irritants of allergies since I haven't had a clear breath without meds for years now!

Hi Kathy. The same thing is going on at my home. But the allergies started a few years ago. My daughter became ill with a cough that would not go away. They suggested testing. After she was found to have lots of allergies. I was tested. Yikes! I have a lot! The food allergies bother me the most since I got most of the other things out of my room.

Hi. I'm Ande. I just joined last night. I have year round allergies-I asked the doctor what I could plant in my yard and not be allergic and he said "cactus". I am also allergic to wheat, corn, cinnamon, mushrooms, walnuts and pine nuts, and chocolate. I'm allergic to ampicillin. I'm a vegetarian who has eaten way too much ice cream and potato chips in the last couple of years. Since being diagnosed with my wheat and corn allergy, I am having to learn a new way of eating.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new on this so hopefully I'm doing this right.

I did the allergy test a few years ago and found that I'm allergic to dust mites and cats. Although I did find out that I was allergic to certain perfumes on my own (wasn't pretty). Doing the generic medications. Since I live in tropical Hawaii sometimes the vog from the active volcano makes everything act up.

The allergies have been on and off since middle school. Hopefully being more healthy will help...

Thank you!

Hi, I am returning to SP after a long absense. I'm trying to get back on track. I have many seasonal allergies, and other things, asthma, but thankfully, so far not many food issues.

Time to get this done!

Hi, I just joined spark people and hoping I'll stay motivated with a daily nutrition and fitness tracker plus other people going through it too. One question I have, and I'd really appreciate your help, is about food allergies cos I'm allergic (NOT lactose intolerant) to dairy and I can't seem to find out how to enter soymilk and other non-dairy alternatives. Could you help me? Plus it'd be nice to talk with folks too as I have other allergies that all seem to trigger my asthma.
Thanks

Hi, just joined this team today. I am dealing with horrible fall allergies, stuffy nose and burning eyes. I live in Colorado and fall dryness and breezes are tough stuff this time of year even though it is so beautiful.

Hope everyone is enjoying their fall so far!

Hi everyone! My name is Rosemarie and I'm new to SP. So far, I've done well. Look forward to sharing and learning more with you in the coming days. I've been on Predinsone for a while due to chronic asthma; Thus the reason I'm needing to lose weight. Gained almost 50 pounds since starting the medication. AARRGGHH!! Allergic to too many things to list but as I slowly tackle each one of them, my reactions get better.

Good evening everyone! I am Sara, 26 years old, and got engaged 07/04/08 (not getting married anytime soon due to financial issues). I have had chronic allergy/sinus issues. Never been diagnosed with anything though. For the last several years I have not been able to breath out of my nose really well. I had nasal surgery back in 2007 and it never helped. I have been using a nasal spray which has not helped. I recently started trying one of those Neti pots which are saline washes to rinse my nose out and have not noticed a difference. I am always stuffed up (congested). I am learning upon how to go green and live a natural lifestyle by detoxing my home and never using cleaning supplies etc. again with chemicals in them to see if that helps. I have read that it really does now ready to find out for myself.

Well thats it for now. Have a good evening and fantastic rest of the week.

Blessings,
Sara

Hey all! I'm finding out its a lot harder to keep up on exercise when I have allergies. I've had allergies forever but only a few years ago did a doctor actually think to test to see if that was my problem. I find it very funny that I'm allegic to palm trees while I live in Florida. I also found out I was allergic to dogs after years of owning a chihuahua and a beagle. For some reason allergies always affect my stomach as well as my sinuses. Hopefully this team can keep me motivated through allergy season emoticon

I'm so glad Aveeno does work for you! I tried that and oatmeal baths, too, for a while, but it turned out my problem was different.

It's always so neat to figure out how it's important for us all to realize that completely different things work for different people!

One thing that seems to be the same, though is the importance of moisturizing frequently!

Yay for you emoticon for doing it so diligently!

I've been using Aveeno lotion for many years to control my eczema. I tried many of the meds from the dermatologist but they didn't work for me. Aveeno is the only thing that works but I do apply it many times a day. I thinks it's the oatmeal in it.
