I've just joined SparkPeople this week and wanted to introduce myself. My "handle" is mensachicktn and my real name is Angie. I have joined because I need to loose about 50 lbs (again!). I lost 50 lbs back in 199-2000 and kept it off until 2008-09. Due to some health problem (thyroid barely functioning, connective tissue issues), poor eating habits and non-existent exercise, I have gained all of it back plus a couple of "friends". My mind is set now to get this monkey off my back for once and for all.
We have bought a treadmill (I call it the dreadmill...I have a love / hate relationship with the beast...love how I feel when the time on it is over...hate the thought of getting on it) and I hope to use it more frequently than I have so far. Probably the hardest two things for me are advanced planning/food prep and eating out. There are only my hubby and I home, so we tend to eat out a lot!
Due to the health issues, I was already trying to eat more homemade whole foods and drop convenience foods with all of the preservatives, etc. I have figured out I react HORRIBLY to corn in the whole or syrup form, but do ok with limited amounts of corn meal.
Enough rambling from me, I look forward to the support and friendships on the boards, I lost the weight before with the help of a couple of wonderful online groups way back in the day. Have a blessed day!
