Welcome Angie! I joined SparkPeople 4.5 years ago, but didn't really "get" it so I never used it until about 5 months ago. Then I started really using Spark and I fell in love with it and all the great people I've met like the ladies on this team! SP is such a positive, encouraging place. It's really helped me stay positive and stay focused on my goals. Please jump in and join us! We here to support you!

Welcome to the Swamp! I was like a lot of others when I joined Spark People. I really enjoyed snooping around and finding all the articles about subjects that interested me or pertained to my life situatation (middle age, menopause, exercising with obesity) and I learned SO much! Eventually, I got around to making a Spark page and interacting with people. I joined a few teams and eventually unjoined the ones that didn't suit me, but all the while, I tracked my nutrition and fitness! If you don't do much else, that's the place to start!

Welcome! Sparkpeople is a great place to lose weight. Lots of tips, resources and people to run with and inspire you. Use whatever parts work for you! You don't have to work at losing weight alone--and it's more fun to have someone to share the journey. :)

Reading about Paleo and Raw Food diets is inspiring changes in My diet! Just enough to want to add lots of veggies!
Glad you found us. I was also intimidated by the site at first, but took my time and only did what felt comfortable to me as I "got my feet wet". I think I only tracked food and exercise for the first few months.
I have found the site to be vital to my health journey. I find so much encouragement and hope on the site.

Hi there! I'm new to the group and new to Sparkpeople. I wanted to jump in and introduce myself. My name is Angie, and I'm a 41 yo homeschool Mom from sunny Florida. Our family is in our 11th year of homeschooling (Yikes! Where did all that time go?!?!) My husband, of 20 years, and I have four kiddos ages 16, 14, 11, and 8. Honestly, I didn't think we would be homeschooling into high school, but here we are! It just really fits our lifestyle and helps us to be flexible with extracurricular things.
I've been on the weight roller coaster since we had our first child. I've done what seems like every diet under the sun...low carb, low fat, not eating, Atkins, and most successfully on Weight Watchers. I'm ready for a life change. It won't be easy, but making small changes each day and having others to hold me accountable will be a huge help.
Sparkpeople was recommended to me by several people within a short time, so I thought I'd check it out. I'm a bit intimidated by the site, but really looking forward to getting to know you all.
