When I was 44, I'd been dieting and walking for a few months and felt in pretty good shape; although I still had about 30 lbs to lose. To celebrate my birthday, I told my oldest daughter I was going to walk on our backroad all the way to town (about 9+ miles) and she decided to come with me. I wish I'd had SparkPeople then because I might not have slid so far backwards.
All that is to say--aim for the birthday, but never, never, never quit! Make whatever changes you need to and make them your lifestyle rather than just a goal. That way, you'll lose it and it will STAY gone!

Actually, I read that it is better to only lose 2 lbs a week after I said I would be at goal by my birthday. Now I am thinking around mid July is a more realistic goal for 58 pounds. But, I will be down to 142 by my birthday! So... that will be awesome! Thanks for the welcome.
