Hi and welcome. How old is the child/children? Maybe talk about how your doctor and you want to get healthy so you will be able to play and do fun things as well as live to play with their kids. If old enough, teach how to read food labels and make healthy choices most of the time. Find recipes they like and have them help make it healthier. Make changes gradually. There used to be a book, called CONFESSIONS OF A SNEAKY COOK. I think there are other books as well. Make it a game to find healthier substitutions. Then have special occasions for comfort, fun foods for birthday and holidays.

I just recently moved back to GA from VA. I'm learning to eat healthy, some organic. Need to get my triglycerides and LDL cholesterol levels in check. Didn't even know what Triglycerides were until a couple of days ago! In case you don't know, it's fat in the blood that is caused by too much sugar...not caused by fat at all! Anyway, I've been researching and found that sugar is in almost everything you can buy, which of course makes it harder to do anything but cook whole foods. So, I'm learning how to do that as well...and how does one incorporate healthy eating into a kid's diet without listening to whining...already feeling overwhelmed! HELP!
