Hi Everyone: I'm pretty new to sparkpeople and I just joined this team. Many years ago I found Dr. McDougall's book and loved eating that way. I'd wanted to be a vegan for years for ethical reasons, but was afraid that it wasn't a healthy way to eat (totally brainwashed about protein).
Then I got into raw food and eventually into the Dr. Doug Graham 80-10-10 approach for raw food. I really really thrived - was thin and healthy and happy.
But my life got pretty tough as my mother got sick and then sicker and two years ago, she died.
I have been eating anything and everything and weigh twice the weight I should weigh. I feel guilty because I really do know how to eat whole foods.
I've tried a lot to go back to raw, but then just eat SAD (Standard American Diet).
I'm thinking that maybe heading back to Dr. McDougall might be the way to go.

Hi my name is Shana and I am new to the team. I am a vegetarian and have been for about a month now. I was one before to but I went back. I think if I would of been on sparkpeople, I wouldn't have. Anyway, I am staying away from processed foods as much as possible and trying to eat as clean as I can. Unfortunately we don't have have a Whole Foods in my city but we do have Trader Joe's!!! :)
