I'm new on this team and and have lost about 30 pounds with weight watchers. That went well, but I'm stuck, tired of counting points, and still don't feel particularly well. I've just finished reading the Engine2 diet and also the Eat to Live book and am determined to do it. I did the McDougall plan with part of Ornish some years ago and did lose weight but then went off of it and gained back. I'm reordering the McCougall books and plan to do a combination of them all. I think they are all pretty similar. I not only need to lose weight but I need to address some health issues which is what McDougal, Ornish and Furhman emphasize. However, I'm hoping to find more recipes here! Plus the motivation to make the change. I live alone so I don't have to worry about family members and different menus for people. My goal this week is to give up all cheese. I'm visiting at my sons now but will be home tomorrow. So then I will clean out the cupboard and the refrig then go shopping for healthy, plant based foods. So this week will be a transition week for me. I can't wait to go home and get started!

Hope you are doing great on your McDougall plan. My husband and I are following the plan also. I am feeling great and the plan is getting easier for us.
Make sure you get a lot of support and keep up the good work. You will be so happy in the long run.

there is protein in all fruits and veggies, potatoes and most importantly beans. I eat beans daily but know that greens have a ton of protein.
have you ever read the China Study? Great book.
You can find out everything about the McDougall program (which in the early 90's I lost 75 lbs on in about 6 months but got pregnant and didn't stick with it) on drmcdougall.com

Curious I've never heard of that either, but where does the protein come from?

It is a lowfat vegan plan that is centered around starches- potatoes, brown rice, beans.. pasta (whole wheat). occasionally you can have tofu or an avocado but not daily.. those are treats- same with nuts.

My name is Debra. I am a sahm to 6. I did an experiment over the last month and found that at the moment the only way I can lose weight (even with walking 45 minutes a day) is on the McDougall plan. With 130+ lbs to lose I have to stick with what works!

Blessings, Debra
