I've been cleaning up my diet act for a while now. I have been through a lot in the last two years, struggling to lose weight with diet and exercise with limited results. I finally found a doctor who is getting to the bottom of some of the health issues that have been inhibiting my weight loss. I have been treated for a systemic bacterial infection, internal fungal infection (candida) and am now going through heavy metal detox (I tested very high for mercury) and hormone balancing with a nurse practitioner he recommended. All have helped. One step at a time.
I started the way back to health and wellness with a book called Ultrametabolism by Dr. Marc Hyman. I was encouraged by his approach to weight loss through balancing your health.
I am hooked now and whenever I do eat something that I know isn't good for me, I feel so blah and yuk that it isn't worth it. I have even eliminated many of the toxins I ingest by changing soap, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste. It's amazing how far we've come from the originals!
Right now I am working on balancing my pH, so I am interested in that thread in this group.
