welcome to the team
Welcome to the team from SW Florida.

I'm new to the team though not to SP. I've decided to combine some interests (hiking and photography) to live healthier.
I'm a complete amateur though in my deepest Walter Mitty moments I have delusions of being a female Alain Briot of Scotland. Not that I live anywhere near Scotland (that's also just a dream).
I decided to join this team because I'm finally upgrading my camera (it should come tomorrow, though not in time for my hike). I'm getting it for $100 less than normal retail. Gotta love that!! It is not a DSLR. I like to think that I really want one someday, but I once read a book explaning apertures and f-stops...I'm not even sure I could tell you what these things are let alone how to use them. I am however a wiz at point & shoots with cool features (if people aren't making use of the myriad of features they've wasted their money). My old but trusty Kodak DX6490 with a "whopping" 4 MP has passed it's time for retirement. I'm getting the Canon Powershot SX150. Supposedly a solid cross between P&S and DSLR. I'm so excited! I even paid way less for it than the Kodak 9 years ago. Wow! Anyhow, if you have any links or suggestions for reading material dealing with composition and lighting, I'd love to know about them. I want to master the basics of composition and lighting before tackling a DSLR.
I'm really looking forward to completing the weekly assignments (particularly involving nature). I'm also looking forward to possibly learning from everyone here. I'm busting out Mr. Smith the Kodak for tomorrow's hike and may attempt to find straight lines. I'm seriously giddy about this.
I can't wait to start meeting fellow Shutterbugs. Do Shutterbugs do the Jitterbug? I hope so, because I'm so excited it's just coming out. Jitter bug.
