I'm Sonia from Waterbury. I been a member for a few year, but I go and come back. I came back because I gain more weight that I care for. I need some motivation. I moving to Hartford soon, so I hope I could go back to the gym the way I use too.

I'm hoping to meet some new friends here and make my weight goal a reality.

Hi everyone!

I'm new to sparkpeople and am from the Meriden area. Over the past three years I have lost about 75lbs, but still have another 25lbs to go. I have been yo-yo-ing trying to get under 200 and decided joining Sparkpeople would be the way to do it.

Normally, I like to run and do Zumba for my exercise but right before the holidays I had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. The only exercise I can do now is walking and I have a very restricted diet for the next few months (no red meat, low-fat, select veggies and fruits, little dairy, etc).

I'm looking to make a couple of friends on here who will be able to help support me and encourage me to keep going! I can be very supportive and encouraging in return! emoticon

I found a great way to exercise because walks are less pleasant in the winter. It is called shoveling snow. Lost 2 lbs. on the scale since yesterday.

Hi All!

I used to be active on SP years ago and I'm back for a new challenge! Was maintaining my weight, with a few added pounds and one day I looked up and I had gone over the dreaded number!

Hello all. I'm Jen from Salem. I've been part of this site, on and off, for a few years now and have returned with hopes of refining decent habits and pushing to lose the weight that will not come off. I'm a recent engineering grad from a Boston college that just moved to S Windsor, CT. I started using this site in 2008. Since than it's been very instrumental in my inspiration to exerciser and eat healthy, In Boston I was very participative in exercise clubs so if anyone is looking to start one please contact me as I'm excited to be active in one again. In the past I've used this site to create fun and challenging exercise routines. Diet wise I'm pretty good but I so in that area I didn't use this site too much. I've posted some walking routes using the sparkpeople map tracker. I have posted some amateur exercise routines made myself on my facebook. Hey everyone.
Haven't been on here in a while. Trying to eat healthier and be more active this winter.
I've been on sparkpeople before and used it to help me track food and exercise. It helped me a lot.

thanks for the input -- pretty much low carb for me means no white flour, sugar, white rice etc. I will use good carbs, (grains, beans etc). I certainly feel much better -- had sugar on my birthday and was not happy with the way my body responded -- and it is a high protein (low fat) program --

Being fat is hard -- dieting is hard -- choose your hard!!

Hello and welcome to the team! Are you using the nutrition tracker? That will really help you track protein, carbs, fats and calories.
You can also check out some of the Spark recipes, you can make "low carb" one of the search criteria. Be careful with low carbing, your brain needs carbs to function.

Hi Lynda, thank you for telling me your story. I am so sorry that another person has to deal with this dreaded disease. I do eat healthy, rarely do I eat processed foods. I don't fry and I started using Almond flour and Coconut flour in my baking. My issue was I felt so badly, being in pain or being tired that I stopped exercising. Hi Everyone, I'm Lynda from Wolcott. I'm not a newbie to SparkPeople. I joined a few years ago and lost a little over 70 lbs. Then I got sick and strayed away. @ Linda: I too was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and understand what you are talking about. I also have undifferentiated spondyloarthritis and a blood clotting issue. That darn Lyme caused havoc with my body making it difficult to function for ,ore than two years. After seeing so many doctors I finally went to a naturopath and she was wonderful and really helped me get through the rough days. I now eat only whole foods and have stopped eating all sweetners. Its amazing how much better I feel. Weight gain has always been a battle for me and when I don't exericise I start putting the pounds back on. Whole foods are great but if you don't watch the portion control you can start putting the pounds on. Some days are harder than others to push myself to get some type of exercise. I'm hoping that if I get active on this site again I will get that motivation back that I had when I first began Spark.


My dog is not my whole life but she makes my life whole.

Good Afternoon Everyone, :)

I am Linda, and I live in Winsted. I have put on nearly 60-lbs due to having Chronic Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia, Raynaud's and boughts with Kidney Stones. I stopped exercising because I felt like I was dying most days, and felt even worse seeing my butt get larger and my clothes getting smaller. I had enough and I'm taking back my life and my health. I never over-ate or ate unhealthy, it was the lack of moving. I found this site and just love it, it's so easy to follow once you get the hang of it. Good luck to everyone. Welcome, Tracy! You will love SP. Take your time and learn to use all the resources slowly. First step is to TRACK all your food. When your ready for exercise start tracking that. And participate in the online community as much as possible

This is my second time around on Spark People. I joined in March of 2010 and did real well for a while. I lost 45 pounds in 6 months. But then I hit a plateau, lost focus and gained back 25 pounds in 2011 and 2012. Two months ago today on Nov. 6th I started back up on SP. Since then I have lost 19 pounds. The biggest difference this time around is that I am really involved in the SP online community. I blog often, I have several streaks going and I am active on teams. This has made all the difference in the world for me.

Hello, I am Anna from Monroe. Looking forward to meeting Spark Friends from the Constitution State. I am married to a great guy and we have 2 boys ages 9 & 10. I work full-time in the consumer products industry.

I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and I am looking to get to a healthy weight, exercise daily and get off the medicine I am on forever.

I am new to Sparkpeop;e and Live in Thompson. I am a Mother to 7 (from a combined family). My husband is newly retired from the Navy. I work full time. I love to sing, pay drums, I'm in a band, I sew, read, love movies, love the ocean, and photography. I am involved with Relay For Life here in Woodstock, Ct. Hello Spark Connecticut. Marie from Ansonia here. Not new to the site but haven't come around for a long while. Just had a son on 4-10-12 and am now ready to lose all the baby weight. Gained 37 pounds while pregnant and have lost about 15 of them. Ready to get back on track and hit my goal of 150 lbs. by Christmas. Anyone from the Ansonia area?
