I smoked for 16 years and tried lots of ways to quit before my last final time over 7 months ago. The patches were useless. Cold turkey is the quickest and cleanest method of quitting. If you use the patches you'll still be addicted to nicotine, it just prolongs the agony. You'll also still want to smoke. Quitting cold turkey the nicotine leaves your body within 3 days.

urkey.html It was one of the main reasons for my successful quit.
I had luck with patches on a short term bases. I did much better with the chantix
It's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why you sometimes need really special shoes. - Sex and the City quote

Living nicotine free takes way more than luck. I quit without them but know plenty of people who stepped down by using them. What other support systems and tools do you have in place? Far more important, so check out nicotine-anonymous.org if you really want to quit for good. I'm nic free for 12 years and 10 months now and still am a member of that fellowship.
I'd be happy to answer questions you may have. Best to you!

I'm scheduled to quit this weekend... My doctor wants me to use the patches - due to my inability to handle using the Chantix. Has anyone had any luck with using the patches?
