Hi everyone! I'm new to this team but not to SparkPeople. I've been on SP for 3 months and I've lost 9 lbs! I'm getting married in 11 weeks and I'd like to lose a little more before then. My Fiance and I like to hike. Last weekend we went on our first rugged hike together...it was 7 miles. We had a blast! We are looking forward to many more hikes together. We are going to TN on our honeymoon and we plan to do a lot of hiking then!
I love hiking, and my favorite way to do it is in Vibram5Fingers. It's just warm enough out that I won't get frostbite on my toes, and it's fun to squish in the mud like I am a little girl.
I live in PNW, and there are so many different trails to try around here I get overwhelmed just looking at the website. But I'ma make a stab at hitting all the different areas at least, starting a couple weeks ago.
Hi everyone!! I'm new to this team but not to SparkPeople. Joined SparkPeople about 2 1/2 years ago and love what I've learned and the awesome people I've met!! I'm excited about joining this team because the outdoors is where I need to be. I live in Montana,,need I say more?? ha ha ha Looking forward to hearing about everyone's adventures!!
Hi everyone, new to the team. Love to hike. My son and I are working on his Boy Scout Hiking Merit badge this year. It is going to be a fun adventure.
As we walk though this garden, that some call life there are many paths and ways to go. There is always someone there to help you along the way some may force you down their path or help you find your own. No matter what path you take there is a key in the garden. You must find it to survive!

Ooooh ooooh oooh...me, too! Someone on Spark People mentioned Leslie Sansone, and I went and had me a look-see. I'd never exercised with a video before, but I tried Leslie Sansone and I got hooked!
I like the fact that I can do these walks in a small space. I've done as little as one of her 15-minute walks and as much as a 5-miler. I work hard and really work up a sweat.
I do go to Jazzercise and have for several years now. I do like Jazzercise, but I don't work up quite as much energy because there's a little pause between the songs, whereas Leslie has us going non-stop for as much as over an hour.
I also go to Curves. My Curves Coach got me going on hiking. And now she can't hike with me any more because she has Grandmother Duty which takes precedence. And as for me I have increased Caregiver Duty which makes it impossible for me to plan much.

We have a 3 mile hiking trail in the foothills, I try to do on Saturdays when the weather is good, usually around March. Right now I choose to walk with Leslie Sansones 3 mile walking DVD. during the rest of the week. And I am going to observe Zumba class, to see if I can handle that strenuous of a workout, at my local gym.
Getting and staying healthy is not an option, it's a lifestyle.

I'm Laura in central Pennsylvania. I can't quite say I'm new to hiking, but it's only recently that I've begun. Not quite a year and a half. I'm fairly slow and can't keep up with the really speedy women. But still I can keep going. Not bad for someone age 72 who is a recovering couch potato.
I do go walking alone. On Sunday I got the whoops 'n' jingles and had to get moving. I have what I call my "Sissy 5K", and instead of walking I did low-impact jogging. (I have a knee replacement, and the doctor says no high impact running or jumping.) I did a 19 minute mile, which is a record for me.
But if it's going up a mountain or out on a trail where there's a potential to fall I don't go alone.
What with the polar cold weather I've not been going out much at all, with the exception of last Sunday when it seemed warmer (but wasn't really). Instead I've been doing vigorous indoor workouts to work up some serious energy and build more endurance.
Hey there everyone! My name is Nikki Lynn and although I'm new to this team and hiking, I'm not new to Spark! I have to say........... I'm TOTALLY addicted to hiking and really love it so much! I'm a married momma, living in central North Carolina but have lived everywhere just about..... hubby just retired after 24 years in the Army. WAHOO! Have 3 amazing kids: 19, 8, and 5. Since coming BACK to Spark (oh many times over the years), I've lost about 16 pounds but really have hit a block since I started hiking. SO need support and help!
Can't wait to meet all of you and chat!
I am so blessed! I pray for many blessings for each of you as you journey through your life.
