Welcome to the team! I think meetup is a great idea too, since they usually have an active lot of folks, and you can choose what level of hike to go on. If there is a Sierra Club chapter near you, they may have some good hiking options too.

Oregon has GORGEOUS hiking! Check out everytrail.com to see what's in your area. Also, meetup.com is great for meeting people with similar interests. I've found tons of hikes here in SoCal through a couple of hiking meetups!

Oregon can be very beautiful. I haven't done too much hiking because I don't have anyone to go with, and driving for 20-30 minutes for a hike by yourself just really doesn't end up being fun. But thats why I'm hoping to find people around here to go with :)

We all need a special place to hike. Oregon is so pretty too. Must be lots of places to hike. My one go to is in the foothills here next to my home, it's marked off as a 3 mile hike. It has an incline that you go up and around and then come back down again. Alas the scenery is nothing but sagebrush and sand, and the rattlesnakes are out in extreme force right now. But it's all we got. I have enjoyed others hiking experiences here on Spark, and some of the places they get to hike, makes me extremely jealous!! lol Beautiful scenery in their pics.

I'm 23 and I live near Portland OR. I am trying to get into more outdoors groups, and get more active for the time being. The reason I put it like that, is I will be hopefully leaving for the Navy later this year.
I'm hoping to get into an active group of hikers, but that aren't TOO extreme because I'm still in the beginner-average fitness levels. I'm working hard to get in shape for bootcamp, and I am hoping to get that partially through outdoors events.
