Linka, I moved from SoCal. I lived in Frazier Park and the house I was living was right on the mountain. I didn't hike too much there, though, so I will definately contact you for more info. We go back pretty often.

Linda, Are you familiar with the La Cruces Hiking Meet Up Group? www.meetup.com/hiking=-261

Peace Out,

Terri

Cloudcroft is so beautiful! Silver City is bigger than that but is a nice place and has a lot of hiking areas. It's also only 2 hours from Las Cruces, so there are times in the winter if it's too cold here to go up into the mountain areas I go to City of Rocks state park about 45 minutes from here, or down to Las Cruces to some trails in the Organ mountains. I've been through Alamagordo quite a few times but never really explored it. I would love to go hiking around Cloudcroft one of these days.

Welcome Terri -

I love New Mexico [most of it] and have many, many hiking trips I want to take - including around Cloudcroft, Silver City and throughout the central and northern areas - I already sent a private babble to Linda Kay about visiting Silver City but highly recommend it - the area is gorgeous, the town is super-nice and there seem to be a million places to hike in the area - I figure any town that has a river and hiking trail running thru the middle is a great place ;-)

I'm in Southern California and we are 'hiking paradise' as well so if you ever want to come to our area for hiking, let me know and I'll give you some tips about where to hike - unfortunately, we've had a lot of wildfires and some of our best areas are scorched and closed right now but we have some amazing areas left to tromp around.

Thank you so much. I'm in Alamogordo, not far from you. We keep meaning to get to Silver City. I hear it is a quaint mountain town. We like to go to Cloudcroft.

Where do you all suggest I start on this forum?

Peace Out,

Terri

I'm looking for some people that will help keep me motivated. I'm a 51 yr young female who has been informed that I can do more than I think.

We have wonderful mountains here to enjoy. Today I just did a strenuous 6 mile hike that one man said rock climbin would be the only thing steeper. I'm so happy I was able to finish.

Peace Out,

Terri
