I'm new, too. I was doing really great until a couple months ago when I got completely discouraged by a perceived lack of progress. I kept looking toward my ultimate goal, which is to lose approximately 50 pounds, instead of remembering that it's the little changes that make all the difference. So now that I've had a chance to reassess I'm breaking down my goal into two 20-25 pound segments. I'm hoping the mental shift will provide the motivation I so badly need. I totally agree that we all have to do this to make ourselves happy and not to please anyone else.

Hi my name is Crystal. I've been a Sparkpeople member for about a year, but just joined this group. I joined last year to help encourage me to lose weight to fit into my wedding dress... After the wedding was called off and my fiancÚ left me, I was depressed and no intention of working hard for anything, much less looking better. It was a long 8 months, but him and I have worked out our issues and now I'm doing this for ME and only ME! =) I want to feel good about getting into a swimsuit with the summer coming around the corner.. My goal is to lose 20 lbs in 90 days... I have joined Curves and now I'm about to start the Insanity workout. Just looking for some young people to help encourage me to stick with it...
