I'm Paula, I ride a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT and absolutely LOVE it!! It was truly a gift from God, and I will ride it until it won't ride anymore! My husband & I are members of Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), he is the President of our local chapter.

I've been on Sparkpeople for a long time (I think I first joined in 2007) ... I do well for a while then life gets chaotic & I fall off the wagon. Well, I'm back, desperately trying to get back on track.

How long you been sparking? Off and on. I try to get on whenever I can but life gets so busy. Just got married in April, and now in the process of packing up my house, trying to sell it so I can eventually live with my Husband (LOL)....We are also in the process of building a new home on some new property, which we will then have to pack again and sell his house. Ugh! Oh.... and trying to lose weight in the mean time. Thank God for those moments when I can squeeze in a ride on my bike (ah tranquility).... :-)

Have a great week Ladies!!

Hello everyone. I am a 60 grandmother of four and have been co-rider for 40 years. We have a Victory Vision and a Valkyrie. We live in Southwest Texas just this close to Mexico. I am trying to maintain a 110 pound weight loss. Do anybody have any clues about exercises that I can do to build up my endurance to ride distances? Since I have lost all my weight my back hurts on the bike and I can't get comfortable after about an hour or two.

Help

I have been riding for almost 20 years. My husband rides a Harley Fatboy (but we won't hold that against him...LOL). We lived in Illinois, just outside of Chicago for 50 years and move to Las Vegas almost 2 years ago, mostly for our old bones and less humidity, but we can also ride 9 or 10 months a year as opposed to the almost 3 months in Illinois!!!

89 days from now I will have total knee replacement surgery on a knee that has held me back from living for the past 35 years... so, I am determined to lose at least 10% of my total body weight before the surgery and then become an obsessed workout, treadmill, walking, hiking, dancing FOOL for the rest of my life....

Mother of 5 grown children (2 live here in Vegas and 3 live in Illinois) and 2 grand-daughters, both are in Illinois and I have never met Lana who is 1.5 years old.... we have only SKYPED...

I am also a full-time Graduate Student and Graduate Assistant at UNLV. It's amazing how life-paths change.

Hi Everyone
I am Becky
I live in South Texas, I mean the tip of Texas on the Mexican border.
I moved here 28 years ago to be a teacher. I am now a librarian for elementary children.
I started riding in IL. when I was a teenager. I rode for about 10 yrs before moving and getting married having kids. Now the kids are older and about 1 yr ago DH and my son got a bike and I was ready to ride again.
I have been on SP for awhile still stuggling to lose last 30lbs. Life gets so hectic and I am a stress eater. There are many weeks when I just try to not gain.

Love to hear your stories and how you are doing on life's road.

Mine is the red one, A Yamaha Raider 1900. My husband's is a victory Cross Country.

In September, 2013 we rode fro Ontario to Digby Nova Scotia to the Warf Rat Rally, then on to Cape Breton Island and the Cabot Trail. We were gone 2 weeks and covered over 5,000kms.

It was our celebration of our 36th wedding anniversary!

Lucky you to ride for 39 years! I just started october 2013. Still working out the jitters of riding. Being so new and have never ever ridden a motorcycle before or standard car. So big learning curve but getting there. I saw that great picture of you and your husband? and the bikes, what are you guys riding? They are purdy.. emoticon

Hi:
My name is Bev and I have just found this spark team and joined.

I ride a Yamaha Raider, which I love. I posted a photo of my husband and I on the Cabot Trail in September.

I live in Ontario so no riding for a few months yet. We are covered with ice and snow here.
My husband and I take a long trip plus a few short ones every year. And I ride locally a lot too.

I ride in total about 10,000 km a year April to October.

Welcome ReRe and Diane,

I love my bike, she is red over black. We live in Alabama. Which allows us a lot of leeway

Hi Y'all.....

I'm Maria, but my nick name is ReRe (that's pronounced with long e's; like restart, relive, revive, etc.). I've been called ReRe since I was about 1 yr. old. That was a very long time ago emoticon

I was born and raised in upstate NY. Moved to South Florida in 1978 and lived there until 3 and a half years ago. That's when I moved to the greater Pittsburgh area; Greensburg, PA. It's a gloomy place, but beautiful. Mmmmm mountains and great riding for 5 months a yr. (that's southweastern PA) VS sunshine, the ocean, sunshine, flat and straight highways for riding, and did I mention sunshine? I miss FL. and the sun. emoticon

My bike is name Diablo Rojo. Guess what color? He's a 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. If you'd like to see this good looking devil, you can find his pic on my SparkPage.
emoticon

My favorite color is the color of my bike, of course.....LOL emoticon

I found SP in 2006. Seems like an aweful long time to lose only 47 lbs., but you know what they say: "baby steps". But, for the first time in my life, I've kept the weight off after losing it. emoticon

I still have a long way to go to get to my goal weight, but I feel like this is finally starting to stick. emoticon

I haven't been very faithful to the "community" on SP lately. My life can get pretty chaotic. But, I could use a couple of new friends and hope to find them here. I have time to be online right now because I'm recovering from shoulder surgery and will be out of work until the 28th of May at least. I think it may end up taking longer, but we'll see.

I love to ride!!! It's the one thing I have in life, which is mine. There is no feeling in the world like it.....

ReRe

They call me ReRe.....

I'm looking forward to riding season! I got my current bike on April 20, 2012 and put on over 6,000 miles by mid-October when the rains came. I've ridden a little over the winter, but just shorties as the weather allows.

Hi, I'm Sue. Been riding an HD since 1996. Put on over 100,000 miles in that time. Traveled north, south, east and west (I'm from Wisconsin). Trying to loose it again. It gets harder and harder every time.

We went out today to eat for our anniversary and I stayed in my calorie limit, and still had
a great meal, just no dessert....

Let me know if I can help you on your journey to a healthy lifestyle....I can be a good

I am from Lower Michigan, I am actually on the border of Ohio. Yes I am on facebook. Jackie Savard. I would love to join your group of Motorcycle nuts, I am also a member of the local Chrome Divas Chapter.
I am so glad you have a focus on your health, I see so many losing for the wrong reasons, and they end up gaining it back. This has to be a lifestyle choice, forever, not just a diet. It is so good to have back-up because so many choose not to live that life and it makes it easy to fall into the old habits again. I wish you the best Darlene. As long as we have support and encouragement we can do anything! emoticon

I don't know about Michiganers here, but are you in Lower Michigan or Upper Peninsula??

Are you on Facebook? the reason I ask is because I belong to a ladies group on there,
motorcycles nuts, all of us are from all over the country, and you have to be invited by
the leader, which I would be glad to ask her to invite you....and there are loads of ladies in
the Northern Illinois area, and I noticed that because I used to live in Illinois, only on the
west coast of Illinois SE of St. Louis.

I have health issues which is why I am very focused on losing, and the health is important...
so lets get with it and get'er done............
We are like very supportive on here so you have questions or need to chat or whatever just
post...........

Thank you for the wonderful welcome Darlene. I grew up with motorcycles, my first mini-bike was when I was 6. But as a licensed rider about 20 years. I too lost a nice bike to a man about 15 years ago, but like you I found a wonderful man. We are both trying to take the weight off. I had gastric bypass surgery 12 years ago, I went from 470 to 153. I looked really bad, skin sag, so I decided to gain some weight back...well over the years I went overboard. Now I am trying to get back to 153 and get reconstructive surgery. I am so glad to find a forum like this one. Any other members from Michigan?

Hi Jackie and welcome to the family.....

wow, 20 years......I rode with my boyfriend back in high school, then had a small Honda
when married, but after the marriage broke up, he got everything except the kids and the
bills...lol......so I was driving my truck for years...
After 26 years God blessed me with a husband who tries to make every dream I ever had
come true, and when he found out I always wanted my own Harley, we went shopping. I
love my bike and we love riding together....

If there is anything we can do to help you on your journey to getting healthier lifestyle, let
us know....

Hi my name is Jackie, I am from Michigan, I ride a pink Drifter, and also a red Kingpin. I have been riding over 20 years. Hoping to connect with other girls here. It can be tough to be out on a run and keeping up with your diet plan. So much temptation, bar hopping, restaurants on the road, and oh boy the Rallies. Nice to see a forum for us Ladies! emoticon

Thanks Tnewell! You are right, it is a riot when people start asking about your bike. You have a beautiful ride by the way! Is that yours? LOL!!!! I love it when my husband and I ride and men will walk right past his beautiful bike and right to mine! Thanks for the warm welcome. Hoping to ride on Saturday with "The Girls". Good luck to you! Hi Lisa, welcome to the group. We live around the block from the local Victory dealer and love to stop and look at the bikes. I still get a kick out of people saying "is that really your bike?" I feel for you having to deal with long winters. We live on the Carolina coast and ride all year. My husband rides everyday, even in the rain. I would go nuts if I lived in an area where I couldn't ride in the winter. Best wishes with your goals and ride safe! emoticon

Hi New Friends!

I have been officially riding for two seasons. I started on a scooter about five years ago and traded up to my Victory two years ago. Wow!!!!!!! I am addicted and can never get enough. We have long winters in SLC so our riding season is very short. Hoping to get back on by the end of March and start putting some "gravel in my travel". I particularly love riding with a group of "chicks". We own the road and it is so much fun watching men realize that we are WOMEN. It is a pure power trip. Here is to Chick Power!

I am looking forward to sharing the love of the road and the roar of an engine with all of you.

Hi Chicks! I was just thinking about the fact that this team now has 318 members and how much that amazes me. Honestly, we are not your typical Spark team. We don't have a lot of challenges or requirements to be part of our team. It seems that all we ask for is friendship and support and really, that is enough for me. I like that I can stop in at any time and post and that the Chicks here are the most awesome mix of people. I like that we all have a love of motorcycles, whether it be riding or watching and that we have many of the same experiences even though we are miles apart. That being said, I hope that you will stick around and pitch in when you can. We like hearing your thoughts and love being in on the solution. Cheers to you all!

Hello, I'm Theresa and new to this group.
I live in Murrells Inlet, SC, just south of Myrtle Beach, but grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio. I've been around bike rallies most of my life and love them!
I have a 2004 HD Sportster XL 1200 Custom, Glacier White Pearl, my favorite color.
This will be the third time in four or five years that I have tried to lose weight with SparkPeople.
Growing up my husband and I were both totally fit and very athletic. It is hard knowing what I used to be and comparing that image to what I see in the mirror. When the scales got stuck in the past I would throw in the towel and say "Oh well". But not this time, I think I have a lot of motivation to stick with it this time.
My HD is my dream bike and it has all the extras I wanted, my husband is about to buy his second bike which is also his dream bike, a Goldwing Aspencade. I hate that we will both have our beautiful dream bikes and look like big fat slobs when we ride. My hope is that by reading stories of life on their bikes and working to reach their own goals from the ladies in this group, it will continue to inspire me to work hard to reach for my goals. My husband is working to lose weight with me this time so hopefully that will also help. Best wishes to all of you as you work towards your goals and ride safe! emoticon

Ive been doing it on a trike for the last couple of weeks but was on two wheels for several years before that. Honestly, I am loving the trike a whole lot better than being on two. SO glad you joined our team!

Hi,

I am missing riding....

I am, you guessed it, Annie.
From: Northern Indiana
Ride: 750 Vigaro Metallic Red. Can't seem to let it go. It is the most comfortable bike, I have been on. I have been a lot of places on this bike. It will probably take me to the end of my riding..
Color: Depends on what
In Spark: ? I should have got it done by now. But, I didn't. So, start from here.
Riding: Since 1965 (very very few women riding in 65)

Hi, my name is Paula and I'm a bikerholic . . .!

I really surprised myself (and everyone else too!) this spring when I decided that I wanted to learn to ride a bike of my own. I had ridden with my husband for years and thought I had the best job in the world - just don't fall off and enjoy the ride! I was the "official photographer" for our riding group, because I carried my camera on the bike & snapped pics the whole way. When people would ask me if I was going to get my own bike, my answer was always, "why would I? I have no responsibility! I just enjoy the ride!"

But back in February I just really started feeling like I wanted a bike of my own. I wasn't sure how we would manage it, since my husband retired last year & our income has dropped some. But I decided to just pray about it, and if it was from God, He would work it out. I told my husband about it by asking if he would mind if I take the Motorcycle Safety Course. It took him a second to figure out what I meant, but boy, was he excited!! He had given up trying to talk me into learning to ride!

So long story short - God did provide a wonderful 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT for an amazing price, and it was loaded with all sorts of extras when we got it! When we got it home we started looking at all the extra's the first owner had put on it . . . the extra's alone added up to more than we paid for the bike . . . and we found out that just a month before someone else had inquired about that bike, and it wasn't for sale at that time! I told my husband, "that's because God was holding it for me!" And the week that we decided to buy that bike, my husband's disability from the USAF was finally approved, and we received a check for 6 months back-pay! I honestly believe that bike is a gift from God, and I intend to always use it for His glory.

Anyway, just a month after taking the class my husband & I took a trip from NW Louisiana where we live to Charlotte, NC and then back through the Smokies . . . Tail of the Dragon & the Cherohala Skyway patches sit proudly on my vest!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE riding my bike! I rode to work every day this summer, in the 100+ weather we had for 2 months straight! I just can't help myself, I think I really am an addict!

My husband rides a blue & silver 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad, and I ride a red & gold 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT.

"I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety." (Psalm 18:1-2, NLT)

Hi! I'm Kim. This is my second attempt at Sparks, so some of you might recognize me...even though I had another user name. I have decided that the time is right to really buckle down and do something for myself. I have recently retired, so hope to have the time, and less stress. I ride a Yamaha 650 V-Star Classic. My DH rides a Kawasaki Vulcan. I look forward to getting to know you all and get re-acquainted with others.

Hi everyone! I am just joining this team. I am so glad to see there is a team for women who ride. I just got home from a ride through the Gold Country Mountains. It was lovely ride and we cruised about 250 miles. Although it was quite hot when we returned home, it was great to be back on the bikes.

Hi,
I am a 30 year old school teacher. I am starting my summer vacation as of 2:30 today. it is time to kick my ass back in gear. I had a baby one year ago next week, and I have not gotten back on track yet. I am going to really start first thing in the morning. I ride a Savage and I love my little zippy bike. I also love that it is louder than my husbands.

Not totally Eva. Even though we switched browsers
over to Firefox, it is still getting the occasional
white page popping up. It is making me crazy, but
I am just going to try to deal with it quietly, so I
don't upset David until I can afford to put it in the
shop for cleanout/up, whatever?? He is having some
irregular beats with his heart, so I will bite my
tongue...he doesn't need to listen to me moan....lol
