Thank you! I have heard many good things about Georgia...specifically that area. It sounds really nice! I've looked at some rental and for sale properties. It all looks much better than Illinois. lol

Hello and welcome!
We moved to Cobb Cty, GA seven years ago from NY State.
Your property taxes will be alot less and you do get more house for you money. I would suggest looking for a neighborhood with a homeowners association that is active. Kennesaw is nice and so is Marietta. I have found the schools in Cobb to be pretty good but you have to watch the area in the county that you go to.

Kennesaw is a nice area. I live on the other side of Atlanta, but enjoy going to Kennesaw to hike the mountain. I hope some other folks will chime in and give you details.

Hello everyone!

I currently live in Cary, IL with my husband (about 40 mins from Chicago) and we do own a home. We've recently been discussing about moving out of state...someday. One area we were looking at was Cobb County/Kennesaw. There may be a career opportunity for my husband in Kennesaw. I would really love to hear the good and bad about the state/area! We have never been to Georgia before, but it sounds much nicer than Illinois! I have looked at homes online in the area, and I was blown away by the price/property tax difference. It seems you can get MUCH more in Kennesaw for less. Some houses I saw that are $150k there would be $250+ in IL (with much higher property taxes)! Also, we want to have kids in the next few years...so schools/community is important to us. Right now we have 1 dog, 3 cats, and a chameleon! :-)

Please share your experiences, knowledge, opinions. If you know about IL/Chicago area, please feel free to compare it to GA! Thank you so much.
