I have been a sparker for about 2 years. I LOVE THIS SITE!!!! Even though I have not reached my weight loss goal, I have achieved an incredible amount of small and not so small goals. I have completely changed my dietary habits and exercise routinely. Big changes for me! I have shared my story with others and suggested this site to many people. When I saw this team, I did not hesitate! I would love to be involved in spreading the spark to the world!!

Hi, Shilo here, I'm new yet not new to SP. I joined early in the year, read The Spark and was greatly inspired. I lost 22 lbs, then took some months off to maintain the loss. I just rejoined with the aim of getting the rest of the weight off.
Last month I made a private group of about 15 of my friends on Facebook, to discuss weight loss and healthy eating. I am amazed at the response I got! People are very excited and grateful for the group, and I have been able to share lots of inspiration from Sparkpeople. Several of my friends are members here but weren't doing much.

hello! my name is monique, i'm 24 years old, married for 3 years next week, and i have a 10 month old son. i've lost 70 pounds with sparkpeople so far and i have about 20 pounds to go. i was contacted a couple of months ago about being on my alma mater's tv station (BYUtv) for a program related to sparkpeople, but i haven't heard anything from them for a while. ever since i found out about it, though, i've been extra motivated and excited about spreading the spark! i'm excited to have found this team and look forward to getting to know you.

Hi Everyone!

I'm Jess--almost 31 years old and I've been a "Sparker" since January of this year. During my time on Spark I have lost 60+ pounds and have become a completely different person. I ran a Half Marathon last August and a 10-Mile Race in October. This coming year I am planning on 4 Half-Marathons and possible a full marathon.

I've been on this team for a while. Recently one of the Leaders moved on and it hasn't been every active. Once you get the basics down, thats about as far as it goes.

Hi I am Donna and I am new to this team/forum. I don't know why I joined But, I love to spread the Spark! I started on this site more than 3 years ago, and I come and go, depending on my schedule. I am retiring from the military after 36 years, the end of this month. Then I will relocate to Alaska, where I am building my retirement home. I am more than ready to get on with the rest of my life! I spread the spark by referring it to my friends and people I meet who are trying to manage their weight/health. I also spread the word on AARPs site/blogs.

I have lots of hobbies, Dancing was my number one hobby and I used to do Competition Ball Room Dancing until my job schedule and instability issues forced me to give it up. Now, I just dance around my house and do other forms of exercise. I have done weight training for 28 years and was in one of the first studies the Pentagon did using weight training to improve personnel's scored in the Physical Fitness test. That is before it was fashionable for women to lift weights. Because of this, my bone density was more than twice the normal for my age when I turned 50. I also ran my first Marathon for my 50th Birthday, as a challenge to my self (I will be 59 in a month). So all I can say is keep plodding along, no matter how small your goals or the little amount you are able to do each day. Just try to keep building on it And you will get stronger and more fit and Healthier. That should be everyones' goal. emoticon

Hi there! I'm a SAHM of 5 (10,7,3 and 18 month old twins) and also have the privilege to home school. We live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The norm around our house is pretty much craziness, but love each other and love life! I have made this weight loss journey 2 times before, but now am excited to make it for the last time! I haven't been on SP very long, but love it! I love the support, encouragement and inspiration! I actually started my own group on facebook when I started my journey a couple months back, and am keeping it up, but this place is amazing for friends, which I have made many great ones already, resources- almost unbelievable, but really are believable!! and inspiration!

I feel blessed to be apart of such a great group of people! I tell everyone I can about SP and I'm looking forward to finding out more ways here!

My name is Helene and I'm from Ottawa, ON (Canada). I have been on SP almost 4 years now and take every opportunity I can to spread the Spark!

hello everyone...not new to Spark but I am new to this team. I try to spread the spark wherever I go. I must admit this site has been an absolute godsend to me. It has helped me get more focused on my health after all life is to short to sit on the sidelines any more. My husband tells me that I sparkle since I joined this site and that I'm more full of life than I have ever been!

Hello to all. I am not new to Sparkpeople but I am new to the team. I have finished reading The Spark and learned so much more on how to use this websight. I have a lot of weight to loose but I am feeling hopeful. I just have 2 more pounds to loose and I will be officially under 200. All of my siblings are over weight and I have been encouraging them to get on this websight and use it. I did not start loosing weight until I became an avid user and not just a browser. I have been wanting to get in and say hello but had been down with a nasty virus but now about 90% feeling human again.

I just turn 59 a week ago, currently living in Oregon, but moving back home to New Orleans by the end of Sept!

Whoo Hoo...

I am a artist & poet by trade, mother of 3 and just discovered I will be a grandmother again next spring. After I pick my jaw off the floor, I will say I have 8 grandchildren, 4 boys and 4 girls, ranging from 19 to 9 months with most being budding artists.

I love to garden and after I return home I plan to create a community jazz garden, a walking tour and resume my artistic endeavors. It may sound like a lot, but all are inter-related to one another.

I came to Oregon originally to spend time with my son, DIL and newest granddaughter, Salli Addis, born last fall. But I prefer to be home.

My business name is Sparkling Moons Studio (sort of appropiate. don't you think?)

I promise myself 60 things to do before I turn 60 and I am already fufilling some of that list. One being releasing 100 pounds by 60 August 2010.

And every pound I release I will donate $6 in food to a food bank + do something for 6 people no questions ask.

I love music, books, laughter & good company. It grieves me so when I hear or read about people who have to beat up on themselves when they are working on their weight challenges.

I think it is possible to accept oneself as one is at that moment AND know enough to respect & honor themselves to do what is healthy and necessary to have optimum wellness. I do not hear hints well but love a good joke. And good movies, scents &
travel.

I'm currently living in CA but I will be moving to northern KY for work in July. I can't wait to get in touch with Spark Cincinnati and start spreading the Spark in the midwest!

Hi, I am Lorraine from San Bernardino, Ca. I found Sparkpeople.com in the fall of 2008. In November I had just finished a six month weight loss program paid by my insurance in preparation for weight loss surgery. After losing 80 pounds, I decided I could lose the weight without surgery. Sparkpeople was just what I was looking for to continue losing. So far I have lost an additional 52 pounds. People are always asking me what I am doing to lose and are shocked to hear that I have done it without surgery. I attended the Spark convention in San Diego and was honored to be able to contribute my story to the taping of a promo for the Sparkguy's book that will be out in December. I have been on SparkPeople for about 1-1/2 years and have actually gained weight. I think without Sparks I would have gained even more. I need to write down my nutrition and make definite exercise goals and I know the tools are here...just have to use them. I found my picture you see here a week ago and nearly freaked out. That was me in 2005 at my top weight of 280. I went down to 180 in 1-1/2 years in April of 2007 and never felt better in my life. Since then I gained 40 pounds and am starting to feel the arthritis in my knees and feet again so I want to first of all get to 199 by August 1st and set goals in 10-lb increments cause planning to lose 70 pounds is just too daunting and sounds impossible, though I know I can do it. I want to feel healthier than I do now.

Hi! My name is Angela. I have been a sparker since 2004, but I am trying to gain the habits back. I lost 40 lbs and most came off following the diet on SP. My husband lost 50. We have more energy and now on our vacations we hike. Last year we hiked Macchui Pichu(spelling error!) in Peru. This year we are going to Ireland and doing a 6 day hiking trip. It gives us time alone and a well deserved break from stress. I run 5K 0okay only three so far, but I am getting into this competition thing. I am looking for support to stay motivate with eating. I workout alot so I eat more, but I need to bring back those good habits. I need to learn how to better fuel my body for my activity level. Well here begins another journey.

Hi, I have been a member for a while. I just kind of let my self go and got side tracked for a while. Now I am back and working hard to improve myself again.
It is not always easy to make my self a top priority. With a disabled husband and grandchildren to look after, there is always someone needing or wanting something. I know if I don't keep my self healthy, I am of no good to them. They all depend on me.

Greetings..
So I'm new here. I'm trying to get better. I started my wl journey at 290 ish and am now down to 277, i walk alot, i eat ok, and work out. I just feel like I'm stuck. I used to be in pretty good shape i was a long distance swimmer. I broke my knee (4 years of surguries and krutches) and then was getting better and fell and broke my ankle. In all i have gained 100 lbs wow that's scarey when you type it out. I was 180 and a size 14, I can only wish i could see a 14 now. I'm married, mom, and all of that... I guess I just need the support I'm trying... I went from a 28 to 20 so i'm down some pant sizes.

Hi everyone, another new-person...!

My name in Jennifer, I live with my boyfriend and teenage daughter (I also have a son, but he's grown and living on his own now). I re-joined S.P. March 31st of this year ('09).
Wasn't always fat, in fact, used to be really athletic. I have dieted and exercised over the years, but only sporadically, and I'd end up gaining five pounds in a year. Sounds like no big deal until you multiply that by twenty years!
So here I am, I turn 40 later this month, and it's high-time to wise-up and shape up! I've been very lucky to not have gotten any obesity-related disease or injury, and I'd like to keep it that way!

Hi, I work as a personal trainer. Ignore the scales for a while, you should notice your clothing getting looser, and if you take body circumference measurements, arms, thighs, chest etc. you may be surprised. This is quite natural in the early phase of training. emoticon

I joined sparkpeople about 2 months now and have been doing really well at working out 2-3x a week and eating better, but I am just not seen those numbers on the scale go down. I feel better, I can tell the exercise is helping, but I'm still stuck on those numbers.

Good morning. I am 31f from kentucky. I joined sp 2-24-09 and have lost 4" off my waist,1.5" off my neck and 2" off my hip. My weight has went up and down, but I have a goal to get that under control. I was called a cardio queen for last weeks minutes of over 400 minutes in the inter team challenge. I also love strength exercises. This is an awesome site that is very helpful to me. Thank you for this opportunity to achieve a better me.

Hi - I joined SparkPeople about one month ago. Although I haven't yet officially checked my current weight at my nutritionist's office, my bathroom scale says I'm going in the desired direction. I love keeping track of my nutrition information and "counting" my calories. It might be too soon to say but I think my migraines are a bit better too since I started tracking what and when I ate. I realized that I had stopped eating breakfast all together; I was going for extended periods of time without eating only to eat high calorie comfort foods when the headache and nausea finally went away. I am learning so much by tracking what I eat and I'm starting to actually feel better too. My nutritionist recommended the SparkPeople website and I'm glad I gave it a try. Hello everyone! My name is Lisa and I am from California. I am 21 years old, and have wanted to lose weight for a long time. I have been able to lose weight; however, I think my main problem is that when I see myself smaller, I think that I don't need to stay on track anymore. So, basically, I end up gaining everything back, and sometimes more. I have been trying this site for a little while and although I have only lost 4 pounds so far (after a little yo-yoing), I am working hard to keep it off!

God will never give you anything you cannot handle, so you should never stress!!!

Hello! My name is Kanika and I have been with SP since 11/2006. I had lost 66lbs using Spark, then slipped back into old habits and lost sight of my goals.
