Spark has great recipes for you to look at when cooking to lose weight. Also, many articles with ideas on curbing cravings. Take a little time out and just explore the website. The best two things I have found for curbing cravings is drinking a LOT of water, and chewing the sugar free, really sweet gum. Some of those make you feel like you're cheating!

I wish you the best of luck with everything, and feel free to talk to me if I can help you in any way :)

Working torward a happier me!

Hi everyone,

I am pretty new here. I have been a member for a couple of years but never had a weight problem, but my BFF did so I joined with her. Anyway, something new and strange has happened to me. I was a very healthy, active 29 year old with 3 kids, going to college ect. Well a few months ago I was working and I started getting extreme pain in my feet and legs which would swell out of my shoes. I had to quit work and now I get extreme pain all over my body and stiffness to the point I am unable to walk some days. At the same time I started getting a lot of food cravings, mostly for sweets which I have never in my life cared to eat. Well I have managed to put on nearly 35 pounds which is very uncomfortable for my small frame. I use to work out a lot! Now it takes everything I have to walk moderately for 20 or 30 minutes. I have been seeing doctors and they are running tests which have not turned up anything. The emergency here is my mother followed the same path with health problems and disability and fought for an answer with no avail until her premature death 3 years ago at a young 52 years old. I see I am falling in her path, and I do not want to be dead in a few years without ever knowing what was wrong with me. I am hoping if I get a handle on this now, maybe my outcome will be different. So my question is how do I get myself to moving enough to lose weight, how do I stop these intense cravings at night, and where do I go for very very healthy meals to cook for my family and I that I can still lose weight. I admit I do drink alot of pop, so I know I have to work on that. I grew up in the south with southern fried, fat, butter in everything. Please any advice I would be grateful too.
