Welcome! The key is to plan ahead. Fix your meals ahead. If you know you have times of boredom eating, find a weight friendly snack and have that available or find an activity to do to shake the boredom.

If you do what you always do, you will get what you always get. To get something different you have to do what you never did.

I had the midnight shift also, in a tower, and you just have to take those healthy snacks and eat a balanced meal that you take from home .... I took a small cooler with my lunch that would always include protein like 2 oz strips of grilled chicken and greek yogurt .... and stand up and walk in place to get the metabolism up .... good luck and be safe.

Welcome to Spark ... it is a great location to help you and you meet so many nice folks .. I noticed that you have a private page .... might I suggest you open your spark page to visitors as that is the best way to get motivation and meet folks .... good Sparkin' to ya !!

With me the hardest part is boredom eating. I work 10 to 12 hr shifts and the majority of this time I'm by myself. Luckily, I have a co worker on the same shift as me who is also trying to loose weight so we call each other when we're feeling weak and it helps.

Hi Kim! I work 3rd shift too, at a prison. It seems our 8 hour shift revolves around food!!
I'm trying to make small changes every day. I'm not succeeding much with the weight loss but I do feel healthier!!
I know I need to try a lot harder to plan ahead! Prepare meals ahead of time, snacks etc....

My name is Kim and I just started here last night. I have struggled with my weight since college and it only got worse as I got older. I work 3rd shift in a facility that caters to behaviorally challenged teenage girls and have only have put on more weight from it. Since mid January I've been working hard to loose it and have lost around 20 lbs.
